    • 80' Kicked clear but not to touch, and Scotland will run it in again. Penalty to Scotland just outside England's 22. Their last chance with the clock ticking down.
    • 79' Looks like what might be Scotland's last drive... They power forward, pushing to get closer to England's try-line but no, a knock-on, and England come away with the ball.
    • 78' England slowly squeezing the life out of the game as they control the ball inside their half.
    • 77' Nothing comes of it for Scotland, and England have the ball in their own half with just over three minutes to go...

    • 71' Just falls short from the debutant, and Scotland run the ball out.
    • 70' Penalty to England on halfway. The tempo's calmed down a bit after a frantic few minutes. Looks like Farrell's going to go for goal here... He is.

    • 63' Tight call, very tight one, hence the delay...
    • 63' Scotland think they've got it down for a try! Chaotic play as a kick forward sees Laidlaw and Youngs go for the ball together. It goes to the video judge...
    • 61' Almost a chance for Scotland! A kick in behind almost sets Scotland in for a try-scoring opportunity, but Ashton races across to cover and hack the ball into touch.
    • 60' Scotland trying to work something as they put the pressure on...

    • 46' Scotland gain more than 15 metres or so with a rolling maul inside their own half...

    • 42' SCOTLAND 6-10 ENGLAND. Conversion from Farrell gives England a four-point lead.
    • 41' SCOTLAND 6-8 ENGLAND. Terrible start to the half for Scotland, as Parks has his kick charged down by Hodgson, who gets the ball down to give England the lead.
    • 41' TRY FOR ENGLAND! It's gone to the TMO. Kick charged down, and Hodgson grounds the ball...
    • 41' KICK OFF. The second half is underway...

    • 36' Youngs kicks the ball into touch on the full and Scotland will have the lineout inside England's half.
    • 35' Foden takes a high kick from Parks well, and the ensuing hit, and England are able to bring the ball out of their 22...
    • 34' Evans collects a poor kick from England and Scotland will come again. Denton carries the ball in hand and the Scottish number 8 makes good ground.
    • 33' SCOTLAND 6-3 ENGLAND. Parks puts it over and Scotland lead, deservedly so.
    • 32' Penalty for Scotland in range as Ashton holds onto the ball after being tackled. Chance for Scotland to take the lead here...
    • 31' It's a forward pass from Barritt however as he tries to release England.
    • 30' Scotland battering the England defence, which is holding strong for the moment. Scotland spill the ball on the 11th phase of play and Barritt brings it away.

    • 23' SCOTLAND 0-3 ENGLAND. Farrell scores the first points of the game.
    • 22' Penalty for England within kicking range, and they're going for goal...
    • 21' Free-kick for England as the Scottish hit the scrum too early. To be honest it looked like the ref held them for too long there...
    • 20' Scotland have a lineout but make a mess of it, going long and then knocking on. England with the scrum... 20 minutes gone and still no score...
    • 19' An English knock-on then hands Scotland the ball. Scrappy stuff at the moment.
    • 18' Plenty of handbags, and when Hodgson gets round to taking the penalty he puts it into touch inside Scotland's half for an English lineout.
    • 17' Robshaw and Cusiter exchange words as England win a penalty out of their opponents.
    • 15' Parks takes a high ball well just inside his half and Scotland can manufacture something here... Poor kick from Cusiter though, and England come back...
    • 14' Farrell tries from 40 metres, and it has the legs but not the accuracy...
    • 12' Foden collects a Parks kick deep into England's half and runs hard, and England win a penalty through their full-back.
    • 11' England win a free-kick and try to scoot forward, but there's a knock-on in there and Scotland will have a put-in now.
    • 10' Lamont gathers an English kick into Scottish territory well and runs a few challenges down. Robshaw dumps Cusiter and England will have the put-in at the scrum.
    • 8' England make some ground with their forwards putting together some phases.
    • 6' Scotland nearly steal the ball from an England lineout, but England take it forward. However, just as England look to be building some momentum, Scotland turn the ball over and clear their lines.
    • 5' Strettle puts in a good tackle on Jones, the support isn't quick enough for the winger and he doesn't release...
    • 4' Early surge from the Scottish backline, as they take the ball to England...
    • 3' Knock-on from England and Scotland will have the put-in at the scrum.
    • 2' Scotland take possession early on and kick forward. Foden under the high ball misses it and Evans almost gathers. That would've been a free run-in for the Scottish winger...
    • 1' KICK OFF. An American-style countdown to Scotland's kick off by the stadium announcer... Quite annoying. Anyway, we're underway.
    • 16:59 Moments to kick off now...
    • 16:55 National anthems being belted out...
    • 16:50 Scotland have a much more experienced line-up, with just one new face in the form of Lee Jones on the wing…
    • 16:45 Much of the pre-game talk with regards to England has revolved around the inclusion of three debutants, with coach Stuart Lancaster (in his first game in charge) handing Owen Farrell, Brad Barritt and Phil Dowson their first caps. There are five more new faces on the bench…
    • 16:40 So how will the 'new dawn' of English rugby begin? England haven't won at Murrayfield since 2004, and it'll be a tough task this afternoon in what promises to be a hard fought Calcutta Cup encounter in freezing conditions…
    • 16:35 How has this fixture shaped up in recent years? Tale of the Tape

  17. william d - of course all these great inventions by the scots were done on their own and funded by themselves - not !!!! The question is simple that the shortest crossing point between France and GB was at a piece of land on English soil. The fact that so amny people recognised that if the nazi's made that jump then that was essentially it for the idea of democracy. The numbers or ratio's of those who fought and those that died are irrelevant but you demean the deaths of your fellow Scots because due to your bigotry you are saying they died for nothing then? As an Englishman I want you to have your independence and hopefully so will the Welsh and Irish and Ultimately we English. Then you will be free of us and you can turn fully to the EU and your French mates. What I won't do is forget the Scots that stepped up and fought for their country and mine and did so consistently with great courage and honour making significant contributions in all theatres of the war(s) as did so many others from so many other nations. So to you and the others of your ilk shame on you for dismissing the sacrifice of your fallen countrymen who were better Scots than you will ever be...........

From Seanchai, on Sun 5 Feb 3:33
  18. 97 Keith 1888. What makes a Scot want to write write such irrelevant information on a sports web-site? When it comes to the English why do you always want to show up your inferiority complex. I'm sure an Englishman could write a speel like yours five times as long on English inventions. By the way, I was born in Aberdeen!

If London was saved because of the radar, thanks to a Scot, I wonder how Hitler would have treated you bunch of skirt wearers, I think he killed all pooftas did'nt he? Sick of all you English hating racists, the sooner you are independant the better, the only reason you come to England is for money, as the saying goes "tight as a Scotsman". Also comment 100, rather the Bank of England than the Bank of Scotland!! You can all F.u.c.k. off.
