    • 60' O'Leary cross kick finds Bowe in space on the right, Bowe tries to chip Henson but his kick is not long enough and he shoves Henson in process of trying to gather. Penalty Wales.
    • 59' Ireland counter-ruck against Ryan Jones and earn themselves a scrum now. Excellent defence from Ireland.

    • 44' O'Gara adds conversion and Ireland lead 7-6.
    • 44' O'Connell wins lineout and Ireland drive held up a metre short. O'Connel leads second wave and is again held up short. O'Dricoll burrows for the line and ref goes to TMO - looks like the Ireland skipper has touched it down. He has! 6-5. Great start for the Irish and who else to get Ireland on scoreboard!
    • 42' Bowe makes wonderful break deep into Wales 22. Ball comes back and O'Gara cross kick taken into touch by Mark Jones. Ireland lineout two metres from Wales line.
    • 41' O'Gara gets second half started. Can Ireland up their effort and claim that elusive Grand Slam?
    • 40' Good work O'Connell from re-start and Ireland gain scrum down on Wales 22. Last chance to score before the break. D'Arcy and O'Driscoll held up in midfield and ball is slowed down. Flannery knocks on and ref blows for half-time. Not a good half for the Irish, while Wales are doing what they need to do to keep them out.

    • 24' Hayes in the wars with a cut eye. Tom Court on for Ireland.
    • 23' Aerial ping pong from both sides comes to an end when O'Gara slices one into touch just inside Ireland's half. Both sides looking a little nervy now as Ireland pinch Wales throw.

    • 15' Heaslip drives to within a couple of feet, O'Callaghan is held up, O'Driscoll puts Fitzgerald clear in the corner but ref blows for forward pass - just! More argy bargy between opposing packs and ref talks to two captains. Chance missed there by the Irish.
    • 13' Lovely touch from O'Leary 5m from Wales line after Stephen Jones is turned over. Great field position for Ireland. Williams caught over his own line and Ireland have 5m scrum. Great attacking position!
    • 12' Ireland on the offensive now and keeping ball very tight to their forwards. Clearly they see the battle up front as one to win! It's fearsome stuff.
    • 9' Wales on the attack now and Ryan Jones runs at O'Gara to give home side good go forward. Shanklin also runs at O'Gara and puts him on his backside. The Ireland fly-half is clearly being targetted.

    • 5' Ireland forwards pick and drive in Wales 22. Big hit Gough on Flannery and Ireland are forced back. Wales force turnover and break out of defence.
    • 4' Lovelt angle from D'Arcy as he makes 20m into Wales half. henson stops Fitzgerald with big tackle but Ireland retain possesion. O'Gara puts up high ball and Wales knock on. Ireland scrum in Wales 22. Nice kick from O'Gara.
    • 2' O'Gara pushes his kick just wide and it's a drop out to Wales.
    • 1' Late tackle Ryan Jones on O'Gara, just a little trip, and argy bargy ensues! Penalty to Ireland. First chance for Ireland.
    • 1' Not sure about you but my heart is pumping as the teams get ready for kick off. Can Ireland do it? We'll soon find out as Stephen Jones gets the game started.
    • - One late change for Wales as number eight Andy Powell fails to recover from thigh injury. Dafydd Jones comes in for Powell and Jonathan Thomas steps up to bench.
    • - It's a fantastic atmosphere in the Millennium Stadium - all set for a piece of Six Nations history!
    • - Up front, number eights Jamie Heaslip and Andy Powell are also competing for a place on the plan to South Africa and Martyn Williams and David Wallace are favourites to wear the number seven short against the Springboks.
    • - There are all sorts of individual battles to look out for today. Full-backs Lee Byrne and Rob Kearney are both vying for the Lions shirt, while apparently there is no love lost between opposing centres Brian OÂ’Driscoll and Gavin Henson.
    • - Ireland coach Declan Kidney has made three changes for what he hopes will be one of the most monumental days in Irish rugby history. Kidney has recalled hooker Jerry Flannery in place of Rory Best, Jamie Heaslip for Denis Leamy at number eight, and at scrum-half Tomas O'Leary starts ahead of Peter Stringer. All three of the demoted players will start on the bench.
    • - Wales coach Warren Gatland was heavily criticised for making nine changes for the game with Italy and he has responded by recalling star flanker Martyn Williams, lock Ian Gough and prop Gethin Jenkins, while in the backs centre Tom Shanklin starts alongside 2005 and 2008 Grand Slam midfield colleague Gavin Henson, who has never lost in all of the 11 Six Nations games he has started.
    • - If Ireland win, well this generation will finally make up for the disappointment of the three Grand Slams that have gone begging in recent years. It will be IrelandÂ’s first Grand Slam since 1948 and only the second in their history. It will also be only the first time Ireland have secured the title since 1985.
    • - First to the permutations: Wales must beat Ireland by 13 points or more to retain their Six Nations title and secure the Triple Crown. If Ireland lose by less than 13, then they will be Six Nations champions, though it is fair to say it will be a somewhat hollow achievement.
    • - Now for the big one: Wales v Ireland from the magnificent Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Up for grabs is the Six Nations title, Triple Crown and, for Ireland, the Grand Slam, so not much to play for then!
  • Summary

    Wales versus Ireland
      Tries O'Driscoll 43’, Bowe 45’
      Conversions O'Gara 43’, 45’
    Jones 32’, 38’, 51’, 55’ Penalties

  17. Fantastic listening to the match over the internet in Spain - where most have no idea what rugby is all about (believe me I've seen what they call rugby!!). My heart was in my mouth in the last few minutes. Wales played well but did not get a try and this I think was the real decider. Ireland gave away too many penalties, but some, well I don't know. Anyway BOD and RoG - fantastic! Paul O'Connell - fantastic! Wish I could have seen it on TV. Proud to be Irish abroad! ;)
