80'+1 There's a penalty for Italy, and a yellow card for the hosts... game still going!- 80' Maitland tries a grubber kick through that he chases hard, but Italy recover it and win the ball back. The clock is in the red and they're still trying to run it back for a try from their own 22m!

- 52' Italy win a penalty in the Scotland half as the Scots collapse a scrum - Kris Burton nails it to the 5m line, and they'll have a great chance of a face-saving try.
- 51' Hogg had been quiet but effective so far today - but that run was explosive. His run began with a superb cut inside to dodge both Botes and Masi, but to then outpace the entire chasing Italian side was outstanding.
- 50' Orquera, so dominant against France, has had a nightmare today - it was his pass there that Hogg intercepted. Rightly, Italy have replaced him with Kris Burton.
- 49' CONVERSION: SCOTLAND 27-3 ITALY - That's a gut-wrenching blow for Italy, who should have been right back in the match but instead find themselves 24 points behind and to all intents and purposes out of the match.
- 47' AMAZING TRY FOR SCOTLAND! IT'S HOGG! SCOTLAND 25-3 - Italy looked on the verge of scoring, Masi having cut open the defence with a stunning piece of skill, offloading to Orquera, who was about to release Benvenuti under the posts... but Stuart Hogg intercepts! He runs almost the entire length of the pitch and scores!
- 46' That was a much, much better finish from Scott, who must have been furious at himself for having blown that gilt-edged chance earlier on. It was a tricky pass from Maitland but he did well to juggle and hold on to it.
- 45' Laidlaw lands the conversion with ease from the 15m line, and Scotland have the perfect start to the second half.
- 43' TRY! SCOTLAND 18-3 ITALY - A try for Scotland out of nothing! The throw-in is won easily and Sean Maitland makes a superb run to open up the defence by cutting between two men and offloading to Scott. This time the number 12 has the legs, and he touches down to score!
- 42' Scotland win a penalty in the centre of the pitch as their defence keeps Italy under pressure.
41' We're back in action at Murrayfield and Italy come flying out of the blocks getting into the Scots' half.
40'+1 There's enough time to restart but no more and the ref blows up to end the opening period. Scotland are in control of the match and are good value for their lead, but Italy have spoilt their own chances with silly penalties and even sillier mistakes.- 40' PENALTY: SCOTLAND 13-3 ITALY - It's a low, powerful striker from Orquera to slot it straight through the middle, and that will give Italy some heart ahead of the second half.
- 39' Scott wins an interception, but only after a penalty had been awarded for Scotland slowing the ball down. Orquera will have a chance from 35m, slightly to the left of the sticks, to get Italy off the mark.
- 38' Italy win the throw and are trying to make yards, but Scotland's defence holds firm and stays discipline.
- 37' The penalty is just outside Orquera's range, on half-way, so he kicks for touch in the 22m.
- 36' Scotland push up again, but Italy are keeping them at bay now with good defence - and Matt Scott dives over the top off his feet at a ruck to give away a penalty.
- 34' Italy win it back but Ghiraldini spills the ball in a tackle due mainly to good work by Harley ripping at it - so many knock ons today by the visitors.
- 33' Italy lose the momentum as they give away a penalty, hanging on to the ball in the tackle as they try to keep the attack going - wasted chance.
- 32' Italy burst upfield from the restart, clearly furious at having conceded - quickly up into the 22m.
- 31' CONVERSION: SCOTLAND 13-0 ITALY - It's another very good kick from Laidlaw, drawing it through the posts from only just inside the 5m line. Scotland firmly in charge.
- 30' TRY! SCOTLAND 11-0 - It's Tim Visser in at the corner! Scotland push forward again after winning the ball back, Jackson draws two tacklers and releases Visser, who cuts inside to beat his marker and touches down gratefully. Good move, great finish.
- 29' Scott was brilliantly tackled by Botes to save that try - though you have to think that maybe the centre should have got there.
- 28' Scotland straight back into the Italy half after the restart - and Matt Scott is away! An Italian error from Venditti sees Grant collect the ball and spin it out to Scott who charges down the line, but is pushed into the corner flag before he can touch down.
- 27' That was a foolish penalty for Italy to give away - the maul had been contained well and there wasn't much on.
- 25' PENALTY: SCOTLAND 6-0 ITALY - Throw won cleanly and Scotland get a penalty for Italy trying to collapse the maul - with the advantage Jackson tries to kick into the try area in case anyone can get on the end of it. Nobody can and we go back for the kick, which Laidlaw slots from just 20m.
- 24' Italy try to run it out of their own half but Botes hangs on to it in the tackle. Laidlaw's kick finds touch deep in the Italy 22m: great attacking platform for the hosts.
- 23' Italy maul the ball down from the throw and spin it out to Canale, who tries a kick-through that finds Hogg. The ball gets returned with interest.
- 22' Ruaridh Jackson produces a poor clearance kick in the end and Italy have a throw 30m out from the Scottish line.
- 21' Scotland scrum-half Laidlaw absolutely nails the referee with a pass - laughter all round, and Scotland have a scrum from which they end up kicking it back to the Italians twice.
- 20' Italy picking and running well, recycling well as they try to come upfield frmo their own half - it all seems to open up for Parisse, but he fumbles a pass forward!
19' Slight delay for treatement as Rob Harley manages to kick Tobias Botes in the head - legally, of course. Legal kicks in the head, it's what rugby is all about.- 18' Massive hit by Laidlaw on Botes after the scrum - punching well above his weight so far today, the Scotland number nine.
- 17' Italy win the ball back from the restart as Parisse gets to it first, but a couple of kicks are quickly exchanged that ends up with Italy having a scrum on their own 10m.
- 16' PENALTY: Scotland 3-0 Italy - Laidlaw makes no mistake and puts Scotland in front with a solid, simple kick.
- 15' Scotland win a penalty for offside just after Sean Maitland fails to beat the last man on the right, and as his pass is dropped by prop Ryan Grant the ref goes back for the shot at goal - 30m out, dead in front. Laidlaw to take.
- 14' Scotland smell blood and start pushing forwards into the 22m, Gray twice making breaks thruogh the gain line. Scotland still recycling well.
- 13' Italy take the ball at the Scotland throw but a chip-through finds only Hogg - and his long kick through the middle wins a throw for Scotland deep in Italy's half as Orquera misfields it.
- 12' It collapses again but not before the ball is out and Italy go - but Botes's late pass sees Benvenunti lose it in the tackle straight away. A quick exchange of clearance kicks, however, and it's Italy back on the attack as Masi's kick goes out after one bound just outside the Scotland 22m.
- 11' Scrum collapses as Scotland dig in - it's reset and Italy will keep the put-in.
- 10' Italy have the scrum, just outside the 22m, and just inside the 15m on the left.
- 9' Botes goes for the kick deep - Hogg collects it but is clattered by a superb tackle from Geldenhuys and Scotland end up knocking on the ball.
- 8' Scotland collect the loose ball and kick upfield, and Italy will have a chance to get back on the front foot once again.
- 7' Orquera's effort hits the post! Awful luck - looked good right until the end.
- 5' Italy end up with a throw on the Scotland 10m line - it's won by the Scots, but only thanks to Jim Hamilton charging in offside. Penalty to Italy, 40m out, and Orquera will have a shot at goal.
- 4' Italy break from the scrum and come up into the Scotland half, but it's turned over after good work from Gray.
- 3' 100th cap today for Andrea Lo Cicero, and it's a fine first scrum for Italy.
- 2' Excellent opening for Scotland early on as they charge forward, and Tim Visser is one bad bounce away from getting to a chip-through and touching down. The ball goes dead, however, and Italy get a scrum back on the 10m line.
1' The whislte goes and the match is under way at Murrayfield - with Italy wearing sky blue, and Scotland's odd new away strip meaning that they too are wearing sky blue but with a few traingles of white. Very, very confusing.- 14:28 An amazing twist at Murrayfield: the bagpipes are silenced for some reason for the second verse of 'Flower of Scotland', and there's a spinetingling few moments as the crowd and team roar out unaccompanied.
- 14:25 Italy captain Sergio Parisse has rejected a claim by Scotland forward Johnnie Beattie that Italy side will start as favourites: "I do not agree with Johnnie Beattie. We need to keep on improving, we have only won one important game... Every time we play here in Scotland it is very difficult, with all of the crowd pushing the home side on."
- 14:20 Should Scotland win we'll have an interesting situation in the standings: by the end of the day there would be a five-way tie at the top with all teams on two points (unless Wales and France draw). That will leave either Ireland or England with the chance to go clear at the top after their match tomorrow. Six Nations standings
- 14:15 Italy have only ever won one match away from home in the Six Nations, however: that was six years ago on this same ground. Bookies make them 15/8 underdogs today, Scotland 3/5 on.
- 14:10 Italy, meanwhile, head into the clash on the back of perhaps their best-ever Six Nations victory: a win against France in Rome, in which they simply outplayed the French in every department. Confidence simply couldn't be higher for the visitors.
- 14:05 The Scots will be desperate to pick up a first victory of the campaign, the more so given their disappointing defeat at Twickenham last week. Against England their level of effort were not reflected in the one-sided scoreline, and they will be determined to end up on he right side o the result this time round.

Bit of a strange openeing with the canon and all, Reminds me of Saddam's regime, just needed Salmond in a officers uniform with mirror shades shooting a AK47 in the air.
As a neutral watching this game I swear the commentators on the BBC were watching a different match to me. Anyone would think Scotland played really well. If Italy had not made so many stupid basic errors they would have won that match. Congrats to Scotland for winning all the same.

Looks like a win for scotland. There has been a lot of news this week aboy match fixing in sport. Football, Australia etc. looks like maybe rugby too. Shame on the RBS
So dire after last week. Sorry the biggest loser here is rugby union. Not exactly a contest is it. Shame, as a person not supporting either side i feel quite let down. Italy look asleep.
