    Time:80'
    • New Zealand
    • South Africa
    • 80' The All Blacks are rucking and setting up Carter for the drop kick... back it goes... CHARGED DOWN!!! South Africa get the ball out and WIN THE GAME!!! What a performance from the world champions!
    • 80' There's the buzzer! Last chance for New Zealand now - a drop goal will do it...
    • 78' Here come the All Blacks. They storm into the 22 with the ball in hand. Nonu is brought down but they continue to pour forward... and then a free-kick goes South Africa's way! How important is that?
    • 77' Carter sends a booming drop kick goalwards but it goes just left of the posts! South Africa clinging on.
    • 76' And the conversion is good!! South Africa lead it 30-28 with less than five minutes to go!! But they are still a man down...
    • 75' TRY!!! WHAT A TRY!! Magnificent solo effort from Enrico Januarie for South Africa! He takes the ball from a scrum, beats one man, dinks a kick over a second, collects it and touches down! Sensational!
    • 74' Massive kick from Carter! 28-23 for New Zealand, and they have a man extra...
    • 73' High, dangerous neck tackle from Victor Matfield and he can have no complaints about his yellow card.
    • 71' Tony Woodcock nearly crashes over in the corner but is pushed out a yard from the line. Still a good position for the All Blacks, though.
    • 68' Butch James trims the lead again with a kick that glances over off the right-hand post. 25-23.
    • 66' Drop goal Carter!! Standing just inside the 22, he turns on a sixpence and drills a low kick that just clears the posts.
    • 64' Butch James steps up and sticks the penalty over with consummate east. The gap is down to two points.
    • 63' High, high tackle by Leon MacDonald on Bryan Habana and he is lucky to get away with just a penalty. Could have been a yellow card.
    • 61' That miss was Montgomery's last act of the game, as he is replaced by Conrad Jantjes. Luke Watson also on.
    • 60' A big miss from Percy Montgomery, who drags a penalty a yard or so wide of the right-hand post.
    • 57' Another New Zealand change - a familiar face in Keven Mealamu coming on for Andrew Hore.
    • 56' Carter converts and gives New Zealand a five-point lead!
    • 55' TRY!! New Zealand on terms thanks to some classic passing and movement. They slice through the centre of the Bok defence and substitute Sione Lauaki touches down!
    • 53' Carter aims a diagonal kick towards the left corner but the ball reaches touch just an instant before winger Rudi Wulf can touch it down.
    • 50' South Africa look more positive now after surviving that opening onlsaught. A bit of a midfield battle is developing.
    • 47' South Africa make a change, with Francois Steyn coming on for Adie Jacobs.
    • 45' The All Blacks copped a right ear-bashing at half-time and build an excellent spell of possession, driving into the Boks' half for phase after phase. Danger here.
    • 41' New Zealand have made a change, bringing Leon McDonald on for the ineffective Sitiveni Sivivatu. I probably wouldn't say that to his face, though.
    • 41' The second half is under way, and my half was wrecked by a rubbish mardarin. Tough skin, loads of pips and, most crucially, it squirted juice all over my lap. Dreadful.
    • 40' The buzzer goes with New Zealand on the attack, and South Africa are forced to concede a penalty. Referee Goddard tells Boks skipper Matfield he will "escalate" if there are any more cheap shots off the ball. Carter duly kicks the pen and we go inro half time with South Africa leading 17-15.
    • 39' For the first time tonight, Percy Montgomery misses a kick for goal, as the ball drifts wide to the left.
    • 38' Another offside against New Zealand - flanker Adam Thomson the culprit - and Montgomery will surely try for another penalty kick.
    • 37' With referee Goddard playing advantage Butch James drops for goal... and it's good! That's his first Test drop goal - lovely kick.
    • 36' Dreadful error from Sivivatu who catches a long Montgomery clearance but then steps out of bounds. That's a Boks lineout on the New Zealand 22.
    • 35' Dan Carter attempts a long, left-footed drop kick that has plenty of distance but slides a foot or so wide of the posts.
    • 33' Montgomery misses a tough conversion but the world champions lead 14-12 just after the half-hour mark.
    • 32' TRY! New Zealand mess up the lineout leading to a Boks scrum. They work it to JP Pietersen who touches down - after a brief consulation with the TV ref the try is awarded.
    • 31' The Boks spin the ball expertly to the right, with Jean de Villiers finding JP Pietersen on the wing. He is pushed out just a couple of metres from the line
    • 29' Ali Williams never shook off that knock and he is replaced by the inexperienced Kevin O'Neill. A big blow for the All Blacks, that.
    • 28' Who said Tri-Nations games were full of fast, free-flowing rugby? This has been as drab as the drabbest England-Scotland so far.
    • 25' Carter just doesn't miss, does he? 12-9 to the All Blacks, straight down the middle. You could have made the posts a foot wide and the ball would still have gone through.
    • 24' Goddard pulls up Du Plessis for offside. Carter, of course, will kick for goal. Eight penalties so far today, seven of them kickable.
    • 23' No problem for Montgomery. It is three penalties apiece and 9-9 midway through the first half. Not a great game, however.
    • 22' Rodney So'oialo is adjudged to have taken his man out off the ball and it is yet another penalty for the Boks.
    • 20' Montgomery duly kicks another successful penalty and it is 9-6. Both sides seem peeved at what they consider over-zealous refereeing.
    • 20' This referee, the Australian Matt Goddard, is an annoying chap. He feels the need to explain even the most obvious decisions - at length - and talks in a very condescending tone. He awards another penalty to South Africa.
    • 18' Carter takes an age over his kick - on the left side close to the touchline. But he then steps up and sends a brilliant kick soaring through the posts. 9-3 New Zealand.
    • 16' Penalty New Zealand - offside against Victor Matfield, who gets a very schoolmasterly talking-to.
    • 14' An injury concern over All Blacks lock Ali Williams, who goes down in a stunned heap after a collision with Burger. He will play on but looks a little groggy.
    • 13' These new ELVs are meant to cut down the number of penalties but don't seem particularly effective so far. Percy Montgomery kicks one from inside the All Black 22 and it is 6-3.
    • 10' Carter makes no mistake from 40 metres out, almost straight in front of the posts. New Zealand starting to build a handy lead. 6-0.
    • 9' Another penalty for New Zealand. South Africa forced to transgress in their attempts to slow down a rampaging Ma'a Nonu. Should be straightforward for Carter.
    • 7' A tremendous Butch James feint and 30-metre run sets South Africa up inside the opposition 22, but it is given away and Carter booms an enormous kick downfield.
    • 5' Carter duly slots the penalty and it is first blood to the All Blacks. The Boks made to pay for their indiscipline.
    • 4' Schalk Burger scrags Dan Carter as he attempts a break and the referee says that's a high tackle. Penalty New Zealand, and an eminently kickable one at that.
    • 1' Off we go! South Africa catch the kickoff and clear to touch. A statement of intent from Sivivatu who spins a quick lineout and the All Blacks are quickly on the attack.
    • - The anthems are followed by a slightly low-key version of the Haka. Bit old hat, really. And we're ready to go.
    • - Welcome to LIVE coverage of the second Tri-Nations game of 2008, between New Zealand and South Africa from Dunedin!
