Ireland opened their World Cup with a 32-17 bonus-point victory over Namibia but Pool D rivals France and Argentina will be rubbing their hands in glee after watching this debacle. More

82' Namibia knock on and the ref blows for time. Ireland have won with a bonus point but it was a very disappointing performance. On this showing they will not trouble Argentina and France!- 82' Namibia still having a go but Wessels kicks for touch. The clock says time is up but ref is allowing the line-out. Some serious problems with timing at this World Cup!
- 80' Ireland knock on - again - and Namibia awarded scrum. Is there time for one last attack?
- 79' Ireland take the line-out and drive through their forwards. Another try would certainly help but Namibia are tackling like men possessed. O'Driscoll kicks up field and Witbooi is dragged into touch. One last line-out for Ireland.
- 78' Namibia have not given up and move the ball wide to Bock on the left wing but he's got no room and is tackled into touch.
76' O'Driscoll makes some yards and hooker Flannery is put over in the corner for a very dubious try! 32-17. Looked to be short of the line when the ball touched the ground!- 75' Ireland still at sixes and sevens and O'Gara fumbles and gives away possession!

62' Ireland in need of a morale booster as they have gone very flat! But Namibia steal a line out and Witbooi again makes ground down the right wing.- 61' Wessels adds two points for Namibia. 27-10.
- 59' Great take at the line out and rampaging drive from Namibia forwards but Burger gives the ball away with a poor kick. But Namibia regain possession and Witbooi makes a superb break before feeing Nieuwnehuis who goes over for an excellent try! 27-8.
- 57' Another penalty for Namibia, who have their tails up now. They take a quick tap but Ireland turn the ball over and counter attack, but the Namibians force them into touch.
- 56' Namibia kick up field and win a penalty for Ireland diving in. Namibia kick for the corner, showing admirable ambition and confidence.
- 55' Exvellent counter rucking from Namibia and they win a penalty to clear the danger. Excellent agressive work from the African side.
- 52' Scrum keeps going down and ref speaks to props to keep it up. D'Arcy make some yards and O'Gara rolls a beautiful kick into touch 10m from Namibia try line.
- 50' O'Connell puts D'Arcy away but the centre spills the pass. Ireland need to improve their accuracy!

- 48' Namibia collapse scrum again and ref awards a penalty try. Their fourth try of evening and they earn a bonus point. 25-3.
- 47' Nice take by Ireland and good drive. But the Namibians come in from the side and concede a penalty. Ireland opt for the scrum. Namibia go down and concede another penalty and the ref warns the Africans.
- 46' Ireland win penalty for holding on and O'Gara again kicks for the corner.
- 44' Another attacking scrum for Ireland but the passing in the backs is not slick enough. O'Gara puts through a grubber but Namibia cover it well, kick up field and win a scrum near the halfway line.
- 42' Good shove from Ireland and the Namibians concede a penalty, allowing O'Gara to kick right into the corner. Great attacking position for Ireland, who throw long. The ball is slow so the forwards drive again but Namibia hold tight. Good defence from the Africans.
41' Namibia restart and immediately O'Driscoll breaks down the left but the pass fails to find Hickie.- 40' Horan isolated and penalised for holding on. Wessels goes for goal and puts Namibia on the board. 20-3 as the ref blows for half-time. Brave effort from Namibia. Ireland will need to cut out the errors in the second half!
- 39' Bit of a scuffle off the ball. Certainly some feeling out there!
- 37' Good defence from Ireland before Wessels knocks on and Ireland gain a scrum down. Namibia concede penalty for dropping the scrum, O'Gara misses touch and Lopser launches a drop kick from half-way which floats just wide. Huge kick and good effort! Must have been all of 60m!
- 35' Ireland miss touch and Witbooi charges back. Namibia throwing ecverything at Ireland now and win a penalty five metres out for hands in a ruck. They kick for the corner, win the line out and are held up inches short!!
- 31' Ireland spill the ball again and Jantjies puts a nice grubber through into the Ireland 22m area for a line-out. Not straight from Ireland and the Africans awarded the throw in. Burger takes the ball well and the Namibia forwards go for the drive.
- 29' Good scrum from Ireland who put the squeeze on the Namibia front row and win a penalty. They kick for the corner, win the line-out and score through Easterby. 20-0.
- 27' Namibia holding on well in the scrums but Ireland break down the left through Leamy and the ball is worked to O'Driscoll in midfield - he's well taackled before the Irish knock on.
22' Namibia's Senekal off with a leg injury and Mackenzie on at flanker.- 21' D'Arcy bursts through the middle but hooker Best unable to take his pass and Namibia counter attack.
- 19' Hickie put into space on the left after nice inside pass from O'Driscoll, but again Namibia concede penalty. O'Gara floats a beautiful cross kick and Trimble touches down for Ireland's second try! 15-0.
- 15' Namibian forwards have got alot of beef and Irish pack will not get it all their own way. Ireland have been awarded another penalty and this time O'Gara is going for goal. Nicely done. 10-0 Ireland.
- 14' Ireland move the ball through the hands to Hickie on the wing but he spills it forward with the try line in sight! Shocker from the Ireland wing!
- 13' Burger coming in from the side and Ireland awarded penalty. O'Gara kicks for the corner. Ireland clearly want tries this evening.
- 10' Leamy bursts through Namibia midfield but Ireland knock on after the ball is recycled.
- 8' Namibia win a penalty and Wessels goes for goal. It's long enough but off target.
- 6' O'Gara adds the two points. 7-0.
- 5' Ireland's fit-again skipper O'Driscoll chips ahead and regathers the ball before stretching out to open the scoring. 5-0.
