- 49' Boks break out again and Peitersen almost clear. Ball moved wide to the other wing and Fourie looks like he's over but ball has gone forward. Samoans stretched after their good start.

Super play from Samoa and Burger forced to touch down! 5m scrum for Samoa.- 40' Montgomery converts his own try to bring the first half to a close. Boks leading 21-7. Samoa have all the play for in the second half! They're still in it but will need to sort out their set pieces to stand any chance of forcing an upset!
- 40' Samoa stand up but ref calls another scrum. Not sure that was right decision but Boks feed ball to backs and Montgomery finally goes over. Smart and patient play from the Boks who go 19-7 up.
- 39' Samoa survive first scrum but then concede penalty for going down. Boks take quick tap and Samoa again concede penalty for not being back 10m. Boks opt for scrum, but Samoa hold tight this time. Another big push from the Boks, Samoa go down again and give away another penalty. Boks again opt for scrum. Looks like they're going for a penalty try!
- 39' Pietersen gets the ball out wide and is driven over but ref is in perfect position and rules the ball was held up. Well played Herny Tuilagi but now Samoa have got to defend a 5m scrum.

- 14' Pietersen finds a bit of room on the right but Samoa force penalty for not releasing. Penalty then goes to South Africa for Meafou not getting to his feet before playing the ball and Montgomery knocks another one over for a 9-0 lead.
- 11' Burger flattens Polu in mid-air and concedes penalty. Ref warns the big Boks flanker! Williams misses the kick for goal.
- 9' Big hits from Samoa but the Pacific Islanders are offside and Boks awarded penalty on 22m line and Montgomery makes it 6-0.
- 8' Boks bring Habana off the wing but Samoa stop the flyer. Ball goes wide and Boks chip through for a line-out 10m from Samoa line.
- 6' South Africa win line-out on Samoa 22 and look to drive through their forwards. Ball is moved wide to Habana but Samoa defence forces knock on.
