12' TRY AUSTRALIA! 0-5! James Horwill crosses the line for the Australians! The first real mistake from South Africa as they spill the ball just five metres out. Samo picks up and finds McCabe, who offloads as he goes into the tackle. Horwill is right there waiting and forces his way a couple of metres over the line- 11' De Villiers runs straight through McCabe and Ioane but is brought down by a last ditch tackle by James O'Connor. That would almost certainly have been a try if he'd got through. But Aussie turn the ball over and Cooper puts in a great kick upfield ...
- 10' Ten minutes down and Australia have barely been outside their own half as Cooper receives a huge chorus of boos as he thinks about running the ball from his own half. The boos turn to cheers when he decides to kick though and sends the ball out on the full!
- 9' South Africa are looking very dangerous with the ball as Habana puts in a spurt of speed to get up the field. The Boks recycle and get to within 10m of the try line but they knock on and Australia will have a defensive scrum once again
- 7' Lambie finds Pietersen ... Pietersen nearly gets round Cooper and does offload before getting pushed into touch. Pietersen finds Burger but he took gets thumbed into touch and this time the ball has gone dead
- 5' Lambie decides to run from his own half ... he finds De Villiers, who chips upfield. Genia collects eventually and passes across the posts to Cooper. The ball very nearly hits the padding of the post on the way past. But Cooper collects and clears

- - There have been two World Cup meetings between these teams with South Africa winning 27-18 in the 1995 pool stages and Australia winning 27-21 after extra time in the 1999 semi-finals. When these sides have met in World Cups the winner has always gone on to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy.
- - The Wallabies have not won four consecutive matches against the Springboks since 2000, a run which started with a win in the 1999 RWC semi-finals at Twickenham.
- - This is the 74th match between these two sides, the Springboks hold the advantage so far having won 41 of the clashes (L31, D1). But Australia have won five of the last six matches between the two sides, losing the other 44-31 in Pretoria in 2010 despite leading 28-24 at half-time.
