  1. 6-3 - And that's that! R-Fed cruise into the semis. Never in doubt.

  2. 5-3 - R-Fed holds serve with ease, and Verdasco will now have to serve to stay in the match.

  3. 4-3 - Oh dear. Surely that spells the end for the Spaniard. R-Fed breaks.

  4. 3-3 - R-Fed breezes to 3-3. Verdasco is not moving freely here. His game may be up.

  5. 2-3 - Verdasco takes an injury break to have his ankle strapped.

  6. 2-3 - Another edgy service game, but this time it's R-Fed who spurns a chance to break. Verdasco's hanging in there.

  7. 2-2 - Verdasco is starting to strike the ball really well know, his backhand in particular is beginning to fire.

  8. 2-2 - Verdasco had a really good chance to break there, but R-Fed held on and finished him off with a lovely forehand drop-shot. Very very cheeky that one.

  9. 1-2 - WHAT. A. SHOT. Verdasco survives a break point and then plays an exquisite drop-shot to set up game point and BOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!! Smashes home a volley to hold.

  10. 1-1 - Verdasco gets to 30-30, but goes for broke with a Hollywood backhand, which misses wide. He should have just concentrated on staying in the point. R-Fed does the rest.

  11. 0-1 - Verdasco gets a couple of chances to open up and smite forehands past R-Fed, and makes a decent start to the second set.

  12. 6-3 - R-Fed bags the first set without any real problems. The four-time Hamburg champion is coasting here, and unless Spain's glamour boy pulls his finger out we're going to be done in time for Neighbours.

  13. 5-3 - A first ace from Verdasco, and he romps away with the game.

  14. 5-2 - Too easy. This set appears set.

  15. 4-2 - R-Fed gets the first break. Great defensive play from the world number one, and he just kept himself in points until Verdasco made mistakes.

  16. 3-2 - WHACK!!!!!! Federer's serve is momentarily threatened before he UNLEASHES HELL on Verdasco in the guise of a thumping forward pass.

  17. 2-2 - YESSSS! The overhead backhand smash, the shot we all dream of playing. Spain's most glamorous makes it look easy. 2-2, and he's holding his own here...rather glamorously actually.

  18. 2-1 - Nice play from R-Fed. Deep, wide serve, followed by cheeky backhand drop-shot. Sexy tennis.

  19. 1-1 - According to Spanish Glamour Magazine, Verdasco is Spain's MOST GLAMOROUS MAN, beating off the likes of Antonio Banderos and Sergio Garcia. He holds serve confidently. Good start.

  20. 1-0 - Federer take the opening game to 30, with a couple of unforced errors in the mix.

  21. - - 24-year-old leftie Verdasco has played really well so far in Hamburg, but to get past world number one R-Fed would be some achievement. The Swiss has a superb record in this event, and has eased through to the quarters this time round. The master to serve...

  22. - - Good afternoon and welcome to our LIVE!! coverage of Roger Federer v Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Masters.
