Live Comments

  1. 7-6 - Game, set, match Hewitt! The Australian seals a comfortable victory with a thumping ace down the centre. Next up, a certain Mr Federer...

  2. 6-2 - Bolelli nets his backhand return. Match point number two for Hewitt!

  3. 5-2 - Double fault from Bolelli! It's Hewitt's to lose now!

  4. 4-2 - Hewitt long with backhand. The players change ends.

  5. 4-1 - Bolelli shanks a forehand almost out of the arena!

  6. 3-1 - Hewitt has the mini-break, and he moves to 3-1 ahead when Bolelli slices a backhand volley wide.

  7. 2-1 - Bolelli nets backhand.

  8. 1-1 - Brilliant forehand winner from Bolelli after high-tempo rally!

  9. 1-0 - Bolelli puts a forehand long. He challenges it, but the call stands.

  10. 6-6 - Bolelli holds to 15, but it looks like Hewitt has already settled for a tie-break. Which is a good job really, because that's exactly what we're getting.

  11. 6-5 - Hewitt has lost just 13 points on his first serve today. Not bad is it?

  12. 6-5 - Hewitt powers his way to another comfortable hold to 15. Bolelli will again serve to stay in the tournament.

  13. 5-5 - Hewitt nets a forehand to hand Bolelli Advantage, and then a forehand volley after an energetic rally gives the Italian the game. 5-5!

  14. 40-40 - Some big serves from Bolelli take him to 30-0, but a couple of unforced errors bring up 30-30 and a forehand into the net gives Hewitt his first match point. Bolelli saves it with an ace, and we're at Deuce.

  15. 5-4 - A comfortable hold to love for Hewitt takes him to within a game of round four, so Bolelli will serve to stay in the championship.

  16. 4-4 - A terrific whipped forehand winner to Hewitt's forehand side gives Bolelli Advantage and game point, and he serves up an ace to take the game. He's found a bit of steel from somewhere in this set.

  17. 40-40 - A long backhand from Bolelli brings up 15-40 and two break points for Hewitt. Bolelli saves one with a lovely soft forehand drop shot, and the game goes to Deuce when Hewitt puts a shot beyond the baseline. An overhead volley from the Italian secures him Advantage, before Hewitt lashes a forehand past him to take us back to Deuce.

  18. 4-3 - Hewitt goes 40-0 up before being beaten by a forehand from Bolelli that clips the net and loops past him, but a netted backhand from the Italian in the next point gives his opponent a hold to 15. Roger Federer, incidentally, will definitely play the winner of this match after he comfortably beat France's Marc Gicquel 6-3 6-3 6-1 on Centre Court.

  19. 3-3 - Hewitt builds a 15-30 lead but Bolelli responds with a bruising serve that catches Hewitt by surprise. A well-directed forehand winner from the Italian gives him game point, but he follows it up with a long forehand to take us to Deuce. Hewitt then goes wide with a forehand return to give Bolelli Advantage, and the Australian nets his return in the next point to hand Bolelli the game.

  20. 3-2 - Bolelli brings up 0-30, but Hewitt, typically, fights back to 40-30 when Bolelli puts a crosscourt forehand inches wide on the left. He challenges the call, but unsuccessfully. A long backhand return from Bolelli gives Hewitt the game.

  21. 2-2 - The Italian is starting to make Hewitt work a bit harder, and he holds to 15.

  22. 2-1 - Bolelli moves to 15-30 ahead but Hewitt levels the game with an ace, goes 40-30 up with a backhand volley after an engrossing 27-shot rally and secures the hold with a forehand winner.

  23. 1-1 - Bolelli confidently races to 40-0 but three unforced errors allow Hewitt to reel him back to Deuce. An ace from the Italian brings up Advantage, and he takes the game when Hewitt puts a backhand return wide. The skies, meanwhile, have darkened...

  24. 1-0 - A classic Hewitt forehand right into the corner gives him a 30-15 lead, an ace puts him 40-15 to the good and another ace brings him the game. Bolelli has done nothing in this match to suggest he's about to mount an improbable comeback.

  25. 6-3 - A wide forehand from Bolelli hands Hewitt 15-40 and two set points, and a forehand into the net from the Italian after Hewitt had sent him to the back of the court with a backhand to the top-left corner allows the Australian to open up a two-set lead.

  26. 5-3 - Hewitt holds to love. Again. Bolelli will serve to stay in the set.

  27. 4-3 - A fortuitous net cord gives Bolelli a 30-15 advantage, and he takes the game to 30 when Hewitt sends a forehand beyond the baseline.

  28. 4-2 - Another effortless hold to 15 for Hewitt. His serving has been excellent this afternoon.

  29. 3-2 - A netted backhand from Hewitt secures an important hold for Bolelli. If he'd lost that, the second set would have been all but over.

  30. 40-40 - Bolelli thumps down an ace (hence the repeated deployment of our patented ace symbol) to bring up 15-15, but Hewitt produces a sweet left-to-right forehand to take us to 30-all. Another double fault from Bolelli gives Hewitt a double break point, but Hewitt puts a forehand long to bring up Deuce.

  31. 3-1 - Hewitt holds to 15, chucking in another ace on his way. Bolelli is up against it now.

  32. 2-1 - Hewitt goes 15-30 up, but Bolelli levels with a forehand to the top-left corner that Hewitt puts into the net and goes 40-30 up when Hewitt sends a forehand long, but a netted forehand from the Italian brings up Deuce. A long backhand from Bolelli gives Hewitt the first break point of the second set, and a stunning forehand winner from the Australian lands him the break!

  33. 1-1 - Another ace (his fifth) takes Hewitt to 40-15, and he takes the game to 30.

  34. 0-1 - So, can Bolelli get going in the second set? He lets Hewitt move to 0-30 before hitting back with a 129 mph ace and goes on to seal a hold to 30 with a deft volley at the net.

  35. 6-1 - A long backhand from Bolelli brings up 40-30 and set point for Hewitt, and the set duly arrives when Bolelli puts another backhand long. The first set has taken Hewitt just 27 minutes to sew up. It's been a walk in the park so far.

  36. 5-1 - A lovely flat backhand return winner puts Hewitt 0-15 ahead, he moves to 30-40 when Bolelli puts a forehand into the net and secures a double break when Bolelli double faults. Hewitt to serve for the set.

  37. 4-1 - Bolelli runs around Hewitt's backhand before spanking home a crosscourt forehand winner to go 15-30 ahead, but then nets a forehand. An unreturned serve from Hewitt gives him 40-30, and he takes the game with a springy forehand winner to the top-right corner.

  38. 15-15 - Better from Bolelli! A stinging forehand into the bottom-left corner of the court brings up 15-all.

  39. 3-1 - Hewitt nets to hand Bolelli Advantage, and then the Australian puts a forehand long to give Bolelli his first game of the match.

  40. 40-40 - A fantastic stretching forehand down the line from Hewitt that Bolelli can only return into the net puts the number 20 seed 0-15 up, and he moves to 15-40 before Bolelli pegs him back to Deuce. A wide forehand from Bolelli gives Hewitt Advantage, but Bolelli saves the break point with a brave second serve that Hewitt slaps into the net.

  41. 3-0 - Hewitt holds to love, and Bolelli hasn't turned up yet. The Australian seals the game with another ace.

  42. 2-0 - Bolelli sends a backhand looping wide after a lengthy rally to give Hewitt a 0-30 lead, before a long sliced backhand from the Italian hands Hewitt three early break points. Bolelli saves one after a long backhand from Hewitt, but then drifts another backhand long to give his opponent an early advantage.

  43. 1-0 - Hewitt holds to love, capping the hold with a lovely forehand winner down the line at 40-0. The only previous meeting between these players was in the second round here last year, when Hewitt won in straight sets, 6-2 6-2 6-1.

  44. 15-0 - Here we go! Hewitt to serve, and he kicks off with an ace!

  45. 14:38 - There's some fantastic wig action going on in the crowd, with one Hewitt fan sporting an enormous afro number in the colours of the Australian flag. Probably not as much fun if you're sitting behind him though.

  46. 14:35 - And here they are! Bolelli and Hewitt stride out onto the court, and they're quickly into their knock-up. Both players in all white, Hewitt sporting his trademark backwards white cap.

  47. 14:30 - The covers are off, the nets are up and the sun is starting to poke through the clouds. All we need now are the players...

  48. 14:10 - Good news, tennis fans! The skies overhead are still grey, but the covers are starting to come off around the courts and with any luck play will be able to start shortly.

  49. 13:45 - It's still drizzling here, although the covers did come off very briefly at about 13:25. Doesn't look too heavy though, so we should have some play before too long.

  50. 13:05 - Bad news folks. After four relatively cloudless days the rain has started to fall on Wimbledon in the last few minutes, so play will be delayed. Stay with us though, and we'll let you know when we can expect to see some action.

  51. 13:00 - 22-year-old Bolelli plays his first ever third round match at Wimbledon, while Hewitt's best recent showing was a semi-final defeat to Roger Federer in 2005. He remains the last man to triumph in SW19 before the world number one began his current reign of dominance, and he is likely to lock horns with the great man again in the next round if he wins today.

  52. 12:50 - Hello and welcome to LIVE game-by-game coverage of this third round match between 20th seed and 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt of Australia and Italy's Simone Bolelli from Court Number One. The players are due on court at 13:00 BST.
