  1. 6-4 - A brilliant baseline rally between the two left-handed warriors ends in a crushing forehand winner down the line from the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who finishes the 6-1 6-2 6-4 victory in one hour and 40 minutes and goes onto face Serbia's Viktor Troicki. Thanks for following our LIVE coverage and join tomorrow for more of the same!

  2. 40-15 - Rafa rushes ahead 40-0 and on TRIPLE MATCH POINT the crowd gives their hometown hero and the world number one a hearty round of applause. De Heart saves the first with a great backhand volley winner..... DOUBLE MATCH POINT....

  3. 5-4 - De Heart battles his way back to 40-30, and the lefty closes out the hold to 30 when the other lefty dumps the drop shot error into the net. One hour and 35 minutes into this match, Rafa will serve for the victory.

  4. 30-0 - Rafa bullies the American along the baseline without mercy, setting up a massive overhead swat winner to go up 15-0 and a big forehand pass to go up 30-0.....

  5. 5-3 - A LOVE-Service game for Rafael Nadal moves him within one game of the third round....

  6. 4-3 - Another BREAK POINT for Rafa..... And De Heart sends the unforced error long. Nadal goes ahead and we're almost done here.

  7. 40-40 - De Heart looking very tired, drops the volley error into the net... Knowing his night in the spotlight will soon be over, he jocularly takes a big bite out of one of the tennis balls after Nadal works his way to DEUCE.

  8. 3-3 - Nadal is back to his ruthless best. He closes out the comfortable hold with a brilliant forehand approach that sets up a lunging slice-volley winner. The Spaniard is closing in.

  9. 2-3 - A fly-swatter smash for Rafael Nadal earns the Spaniard a pair of BREAK POINTS. De Heart saves the first in some style, but Nadal is too good on the second. He has broken back and we're back on serve in this third set.

  10. 1-3 - De Heart refuses to give anything away, battling back from 40-0 down to 40-30 with a gorgeous backhand pass for the clean winner. He has hit ten winners to Rafa's two in this set. Nadal ultimately pulls through the hold to 30 after a backhand error from the American, but the fight he's showing is still impressive.

  11. 0-3 - It looks like Rafa thought this was kind of cute before, but is now starting to get a little bit annoyed, as De Heart holds to 15 with another ACE down the T and the crowd goes nuts yet again!

  12. 0-2 - De Heart BREAKS!! Amazing stuff in Arthur Ashe and the home fans are loving every moment! De Heart did it with a perfectly flicked backhand pass for the clean winner. This is turning into surprising good fun, even if the result is a virtually a foregone conclusion.

  13. 0-1 - Nadal tries the through-the-legs shot after a spectacular lob from the American, who goes onto hold serve on the next point! The NYC crowd is loving this spectacularly entertaining second-round night match. Rafa was 86% on first-serve in that last set and hit 13 winners in that last set by the way.

  14. 40-40 - De Heart saves the first of three BREAK POITNS with an ACE down the T and the second with a very clever move towards the net, and the third with another great serve-and-volley play!! DEUCE....

  15. 6-2 - On TRIPLE SET POINT, Nadal fires the leaping forehand smash into the net. He closes the set out on his second chance with a forehand winner, however, and leads 6-1 6-2 after just 53 minutes.

  16. 5-2 - But De Heart can't stop the Nadal beast in the end, finally surrendering the second BREAK of serve. Rafa will serve for the second set now.

  17. 40-40 - Rafa is the one who's starting to look nervous now, as the top seed sends another unforced backhand error into the net, to again let De Heart off of the hook on BREAK POINT.

  18. 40-40 - A standing ovation for De Heart, who stays with Nadal brilliantly in a net rally hitting some amazing volleys before wrongfooting the best player on the planet with a spectacular lunging backhand volley winner. He then hits his second ace to go ahead 30-15 and looks like he's having a lot of fun now that he's settled down a bit in this second set. Rafa hits a pair of stupendous forehand winners of his own right down the line to get to BREAK POINT, but the American saves.... DEUCE.

  19. 4-2 - Nadal wraps up the comfortable hold to 15. This is clearly the highlight of Ryler De Heart's career, and his goal now should be to make it last as long as possible.

  20. 3-2 - De Heart hits a drop shot that Nadal just reaches and sends into the net, and the applause rains down. The American waves to the crowd as if he has just one the title, as Rafa laughs, before going onto close out the LOVE-Service game.

  21. 3-1 - Nadal was really pushed for the first time in that last game to DEUCE, but in the end he had much too much for the American, who went to the net only to see Nadal blast a forehand winner right past his outstretched racket.

  22. 2-1 - Nadal's forehand looks absolutely brilliant tonight, he outlasts the American in a massive baseline rally to again BREAK serve to 15. We're looking at another short set out there.

  23. 1-1 - Another LOVE-Service hold for the world number one....

  24. 1-0 - More boisterous applause for the American, who again holds serve to 15 to slow the Nadal freight train slightly. Nine winners for Rafa in that first short set.

  25. 6-1 - A whopping forehand pass on TRIPLE SET PIONT for the new Olympic champion, who closes out the first set 6-1 in just 18 minutes.

  26. 5-1 - The crowd goes nuts, as De Heart finally gets on the scoreboard, holding to 15 with a service winner. Nadal, still very much in complete command, will serve for the first set.

  27. 5-0 - Nadal is just ruthless, he swats the overhead smash winner at the net after forcing De Heart to every corner or the court, and the American can only grin and shrug. The Mallorcan fires the service winner on the next point to stretch his lead to 5-0.... We're 13 minutes in....

  28. 4-0 - BOOF! Nadal hammers a forehand right into the body of the charging De Heart, and the American, suffering a very heavy case of nerves, launches the volley long. Nadal breaks again, and leads 4-0 after just ten minutes of play!

  29. 3-0 - Nadal closes out the comfortable hold to 15.... This is going to be very easy.

  30. 2-0 - And wouldn't you know it, Nadal BREAKS to LOVE as De Heart sends the unforced error out wide.

  31. 1-0 - Rafael Nadal rushes ahead 40-0 before closing out the opening hold to 15 with a massive forehand winner just blazed across court. This should be a quick and easy match for the top seeded Spaniard.

  33. 01:55 - Portugal's Carlos Ramos is the chair umpire today.....

  34. 01:50 - Here comes Rafa! The world number one is on court against the 24-year-old American Grand Slam debutant Ryler de Heart, who beat Olivier Rochus to get here. That match is due to start in just moments!
