  1. 6-3 - They save one but Lopez's cross-court forehand is too much for Nalbandian and Spain take the doubles! What a thriller, so many twists and turns in this tale! Lopez and Verdasco run and dive into a corwd of their team-mates in celebration, and they deserve it!

  2. 5-3 - Argentina put up a wall at the net that Spain can't break no matter how hard they bang against it but Nalbandian can't clear the net and Spain have two matchpoints!

  3. 5-3 - More drama here as Nalbandian challenges again from and Verdasco shot... It was out - advantage Argentina! Calleri rifles a backhand between the two Spaniards and they get the break! Not this again!

  4. 5-2 - Argentina force the advantage and earn a break point, but Verdasco's serve restores deuce despite the Argentinian appeal. Nalbandian is not happy with something and is arguing with the umpire, but to no avail. We're back at deuce...

  5. 5-2 - Verdasco fires to aces to give himself two match points... The first is fired back at him and he can only find the net... The second is volleyed a fraction long at the net and we're at deuce!

  6. 5-2 - Spain break again thanks to another exquisite lob and they get the double-breaka nd are one game away from taking the lead in the final!

  7. 4-2 - Great work at the net from Verdasco as he volleys Nalbandian's return past Calleri with ease. He then smashes an attempted lob right back from whence it came to see Spainhold and open a two-game lead. Can Argentina mount another comeback?

  8. 3-2 - Spain attack Nalbandian's serve and earn themselves THREE break points! Lopez returns one into the net, but then Nalbandian lets a Verdasco return go and it bounces in and Spain have the break! How Nalbandian may regret that decision.

  9. 2-2 - Fernando Verdasco - like everyone else at the moment it seems - is struggling to get many first serves in, but at 40-15 his second serve is returned for Lopez to smash home at the net and take the game.

  10. 1-2 - Spain hold on their own serve before Calleri's drop shot swerves out for 40-30. Verdasco's return is long and it's comfortably going with serve again.

  11. 0-1 - Verdasco's return to Nalbandian forces the Madrisd Masters champ to mess up a drop shot and move Spain to 40-30 before the Argentinians hold.

  12. 7-6 - Calleri's forehand can't clear the net and Argentina's comeback fails at the last! What an incredible set, and it ends with Spain 2-1 up what is turning out to be a key rubber.

  13. 6-5 - Nalbandian flicks a backhand at the net wide of the mark! then a wonderful lob from Verdasco hands the initiative right back to Spain!

  14. 4-5 - Lopez wins bothe points on his serve, but now Calleri has two serves for Argentina...

  15. 2-5 - A Spanish female fan has been chastised by the umpire for making too much noise! This is unbelievable - a world away from the the genteel domain of Queens and the All England Club! Two breaks from Argentina will take this set...

  16. 1-4 - Calleri's return sends Verdasco wide and Nalbandian mops up at the net to make it 4-1!

  17. 0-3 - Two points from Calleri's serve and the home crowd are rocking! "Silencio, por favor. Gracias!" says the umpire, but to no avail!

  18. 0-1 - The umpire's repeated pleas for silence still go unheeded as Verdasco serves up a double fault to get the breaker off to the worst start for Spain!

  19. 6-6 - Both teams hold and we have the day's first tie-break!

  20. 5-5 - Argentina are at 40-15 but Del Potro steps in and puts an elementary forehand into the net! Loppez hits long on the next point though and Argentina are level - what a comeback!

  21. 4-5 - Nalbandian slams home a forehand to pull Argentina right back into this set! Spain have seen their considerable advantage slip away.

  22. 3-5 - The hosts hold to complete the break and give themselves a fighting chance of taking the lead.

  23. 2-5 - Argentina stay alive with a break - Nalbandian with a great lob brings up the break point and then Verdasco has a double fault. Spain failed with a set point in that game too.

  24. 5-1 - AND SPAIN HAVE ANOTHER BREAK. Calleri saved two break points on 15-40 but then Spain got back in for the break. They look in charge now.

  25. 4-1 - The crowd cheers as a Lopez double fault makes it 0-30 but Spain hit back Verdasco producing a gem of a volley at the net on 15-30. Spain hold to 30 to take command of the set.

  26. 3-1 - SPAIN BREAK - stunning lob from Verdasco brings up two break points. The first one is saved but then Spain win a point at the net to take the break.

  27. 2-1 - Another nice hold to 15 for Spain and this arena hasn't been this quiet at any other stage today.

  28. 1-1 - Argentina manage to hold to 30 but it is now Spain who look the more likely side to break. Lopez is playing some great stuff for them.

  29. 1-0 - All the momentum with Spain now as Lopez holds to love.

  30. 7-5 - SPAIN HAVE THE SECOND SET!! - On 30-30 Calleri puts a smash into the net and then he goes long with a volley on the next point - neither easy shot to be fair but Spain have a big break and we are all level.

  31. 6-5 - Verdasco was broken in this game in the first set and at 30-30 he might have felt pressure again but he produces two frames in a row to take the game.

  32. 5-5 - A deft volley at the net and then a smash both from Nalbandian helps Calleri hold to 15.

  33. 5-4 - Faultless service game from Lopez keeps Spain's noses ahead in this second set - still all on serve.

  34. 4-4 - Big hold for Argentina - they needed to survive a couple of deuces. Nalbandian's serve was a little patchy in that game but Calleri got him out of jail on more than one occasion.

  35. 4-3 - No sign of him cracking there though - he holds to 15.

  36. 3-3 - Calleri holds to 15 wrapping it up with an ace - back onto the Verdasco serve now which hasn't always looked the best.

  37. 3-2 - Awesome cross court return winner from Calleri brings up two break points. Lopez then with an ace and another big serve though quickly ends that momentum. He then wins the next two points to wrap up the game.

  38. 2-2 - Nalbandian remains strong on his serve and we remain level in this second set.

  39. 2-1 - Verdasco follows a second serve with a double fault and Argentina find themselves 0-30 in front. Might have been easy for Verdasco there but instead he sorts his serve out wins five quick points in a row.

  40. 1-1 - Scrappy game from Argentina on the Calleri serve but they dig out a hold to 30. Spain didn't take all their chances in that game.

  41. 1-0 - Good start from Spain to silence the crowd (a little) in the second set. Lopez - who has looked the stronger Spanish player - holds to love.

  42. 5-7 - A gem of a winner from Verdasco puts Spain 0-40 in front but Nalbandian stays so solid on his serve under enormous pressure and Argentina win five points in a row to take the first set.

  43. 5-6 - ARGENTINA BREAK - Nervy serving from Verdasco and some solid returning from Argentina sees them go 0-40 in front. Nalbandian misses a chance on 15-40 when he just puts a shot wide but then Verdasco double faults and the Argentine crowd go wild!

  44. 5-5 - Spain just cannot get the ball in play on the Argentine serve and Calleri seals yet another easy hold to love.

  45. 5-4 - But Lopez is serving very well to0 - an ace wraps up a quick hold to 15.

  46. 4-4 - Nalbandian races to another quick hold to put the pressure back on Spain.

  47. 4-3 - Argentine still can't find a break though despite picking up some points on the Spanish serve.

  48. 3-3 - Argentina continue to look good on their own serve - Calleri holds to 30.

  49. 3-2 - Took big serves from Lopez helps Spain hold again after Argentina had got it to 30-30.

  50. 2-2 - Nalbandian holds to 15 and he looks the best player out there at the moment.

  51. 2-1 - First little sniff of a break for Argentina as they get to deuce but Verdasco manages to hold.

  52. 1-1 - Calleri with a tidy hold to level matters. Nalbandian was very sharp at the net in that game too.

  53. 1-0 - A couple of winners from Nalbandian in that opening game but Spain still hold to 30 to start the match.

  54. 0-0 - Off we go - Lopez serving in this opening game.

  55. - - Another sell-out crowd here and it is going to be very noisy. It will take a brave performance from the Spanish to get anything out of this.
