6-2 - MURRAY HAS DONE IT!!! Federer is broken yet again and the defending champion Murray is through to face Andy Roddick in the final on Sunday. It's been a superb match, but Murray had the edge at the vital moments and now takes his head-to-head record against R-Fed to a remarkable 5-and-1 (the only defeat being the US Open final). Thanks for joining me!
5-2 - Murray is just a game away from the match!! The pressure is on the R-Fed serve. Here we go...
4-2 - R-Fed pulls one back, but he is looking a touch forlorn. The momentum is clearly with that man Murray. Still no sign of a smile from the charming Scot however.
4-1 - Federer loses his cool for second and gifts Murray a point with a wild backhand. That was uncharacteristically loose from the master, and he now trails 4-1.
3-1 - Murray is back up and ready to go. And would you believe it, he only goes and breaks the R-Fed serve!! What a chance for the Scot, who leads 3-1. The question is whether his back can stand the rigours of another four or five games.
2-1 - Murray holds serve, but he has a problem. His back is causing him problems and the trainer is out. With just 10 days to go until the Australian Open he will surely retire if there is a risk of further damage.
1-1 - All too easy for R-Fed, who ignores my previous comment and takes the second game to love without so much as shedding a bead of sweat beneath that fetching headband of his.
1-0 - This is looking ominous for R-Fed now. Murray breezes through his opening service game and he really looks in the mood now. But if anybody can shackle the man it's R-Fed (oh and Nadal but he's out and forgotten).
6-2 - Lovely lovely stuff from Murray, who takes the second set with another break of the Federer serve. The pick of the points sees him toy with the great man and draw him to the net with a deft backhand slice, before wrong-footing him with a pinpoint winner. GAME ON!
5-2 - Murray hammers home his advantage with a competent service game and suddenly the Scot leads 5-2 in the second set and will have three chances (one on on his own serve) to level the match.
4-2 - Well well!!! R-Fed makes his fourth double-fault and suddenly Murray has a break point. He stays in the point and R-Fed makes the error, sending a forehand long to conceded the first break of the match. Murray leads 4-2.
3-2 - Still no breaks of serve in the match. Murray leads 3-2 in the second set after both players dominate service games.
2-1 - The game of the match so far!! R-Fed blasts his way to 40-0 on the Murray serve, but the Briton suddenly finds some magic to recover. The rally of the game sees R-Fed return three successive smashes, before Murray decides to change tact and drop a sublime backhand slice drop-shot to win the point. Could that be the turning point?
1-1 - SMASH. BANG. WALLOP. Federer races to a love game and he really is starting to put on a show now. That game included a couple of belting forehands.
0-1 - Murray is still smarting from a call in that tie-break. He challenged and won, but the point had to be replayed and R-Fed aced. Still, he manages to hold serve in the first game of the second set.
6-8 - Federer aces at 6-6, and the world number two has his first set point. He sets Murray up and CRASHES A BACKHAND WINNER ACROSS COURT TO GO ONE-SET UP!!! On the balance of play he just about deserves it, but there's plenty of life in this match yet.
6-6 - Murray blasts an ace to go 6-5 ahead and earn the first set point, but R-Fed pulls a sublime drop volley out of his sizeable bag of tricks to survive the threat. 6-6. I told you this one was going to be a humdinger.
4-4 - Hang on a second!! Murray fights back to 4-4. Could this match get any closer!! Well, actually no. Not at this point.
1-4 - Federer goes 2-0 up, before an error sees Murray back into the reckoning. But then he strikes, R-Fed SMASHING A BACKHAND PASS DOWN THE LINE TO GO 3-1!! He takes the next one too and leads 4-1. Must-win point for Murray coming up.
6-6 - Murray hold and we're headed to Tie-Break Town!!
5-6 - Murray plays a wonderful forehand winner to steal the early initiative, but R-Fed is not having any of it. He blasts down a trio of fine serves and puts the pressure back on Murray - who it must be said is behaving in a rather sulky, unlikeable fashion...again.
5-5 - Murray goes for an audicious lob at 40-15, but it's just long. No matter, he follows up with a fine serve and puts away a straightforward forehand winner to take the fight back to R-Fed. 5-5. All to play for.
4-5 - Both players hold serve and we move to 5-4 Federer. The pressure is on Murray. Can he find the resolve to avoid conceding the first break and with it the opening set?
3-4 - Murray really pushes Federer in game seven, taking him to deuce with an array of powerful groundstrokes. R-Fed holds his nerve, however, and dominates a gruelling rally to force an error from Murray and go 4-3 ahead.
3-3 - Another two games go without serve, and without major incident.
2-2 - Murray levels the match with another solid service game. Neither player is giving an inch.
1-2 - Murray crashes an absolute belter of a backhand past R-Fed and threatens the first break of the match. The world number two holds his nerve, however, and goes 2-1 ahead.
1-1 - Murray returns fire with a decent opening game on his service. Federer takes him to 30, but the Scot powers home.
0-1 - Federer wins the opening service game in relative comfort. Murray goes for his shots on a couple of the returns, but possibly saw that as a throwaway game to loosen up.
- - The players are through warming up and the second semi-final is about to get going. This is the seventh meeting between the the pair and on current form it's too close to call. Murray is playing very well, but there is something about Federer's approach at this event that suggests he could return to his best this year.
- - Good afternoon tennis fans and welcome to what promises to be a humdinger of a semi-final at the ATP Doha event in Qatar. In the red corner we have the Swiss maestro and world number two Roger Federer. In the blue corner it's the undisputed king of British tennis Andy Murray. The winner will play Andy Roddick of the US in the final, after he dispatched Gaels Monfils 7-6 3-6 6-3.
