Live Comments

  1. 6-2 - Nadal waltzes home to a 6-3 6-2 6-2 victory and will face Tommy Haas in the third round. Karanusic put up a decent fight, but like many who come up against Nadal, he was simply out-classed.

  2. 4-2 - There's the break for Nadal!! A really classy game from the world number one, who looks VERY VERY RELAXED OUT THERE.

  3. 3-2 - Karanusic takes Nadal to deuce, but the world number one sends down a couple of well-directed serves to go 3-2 up.

  4. 2-2 - Another hold for Karanusic, who looks to have decided he has nothing to lose now. He's going for shots and good on him!

  5. 2-1 - Nadal gets a touch frustrated after questioning a call and being proved wrong. He takes his anger out on the ball, beasting one away to seal the game and go 2-1 ahead.

  6. 1-1 - Karanusic holds to pull level in the third set at 1-1.

  7. 1-0 - Nadal takes the opening game and marches on. Karanusic is toiling valiantly, but Nadal is just RELENTLESS...there is no other word for it. He battered forehands to either side in a couple of rallies in that game, toying with his opponent.

  8. 6-3 - Nadal closes out the second set and it's all looking rather gloomy for Karanusic.

  9. 5-3 - Nadal holds, but not without some difficulty. Karanusic gets so riled at himself for failing to take the opportunity to break he throws his racket to the floor in disgust.

  10. 4-3 - Karanusic sends a serve out wide to Nadal's backhand and comes into the net to put away a neat volley and wrap up a good service game.

  11. 4-2 - Nadal has now mustered 15 winners to Karanusic's seven. He also leads on unforced errors.

  12. 3-2 - Nadal holds, before Karanusic summons his best game of the match to get back to 3-2. The Croatian is refusing to wilt despite a relentless performance from Nadal.

  13. 2-1 - Nadal breaks and the world number one is starting to reproduce the form he showed in his first-round victory. His forehands in particular are proving unanswerable more often than not.

  14. 1-1 - The second set begins with both players holding serve relatively comfortably.

  15. 6-2 - There it is! Nadal wraps up a fairly straighforward opening set. He had two break points and took both of them. Karanusic had four and missed out on all of them.

  16. 5-2 - A second break for Nadal and Karanusic is in trouble in the opening set. Karanusic is not doing a lot wrong, he's only made one unforced error - Nadal has made seven.

  17. 4-2 - Nadal has the opening break! The Spaniard just battered Karanusic into submission, crashing powerful groundstrokes to either side of the court and running him ragged.

  18. 2-2 - The pair exchange holds, with the pick of the action coming on Nadal's service game. Karanusic tries a cheeky drop-shot, which he executes well enough that it would have won the point against most players...but not Nadal, who sprints in at lightning speed and sends a backhand winner cross-court.

  19. 1-1 - Nadal skips up to begin his first service game and duly belts down a collection of crashing serves to level the match at 1-1.

  20. 0-1 - Karanusic starts confidently, holding serve without any sign of nerves.

  21. - - Good morning all and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Rafa Nadal's second-round clash with Roko Karanusic of Croatia.
