The look on Safina's face as she looked at her camp afterwards suggested she was slightly concerned about putting that into the net but she didn't and that's another game on the board for the third seed.

  7. 2-1 - Kanepi is on the scoreboard much earlier in this set after a positive service game. She is still a set and a break down though and barring a major implode, you've got to assume Safina will close this out fairly easily from here

  8. 2-0 - Safina holds to cement the break. Kanepi wastes a great chance to break right back by pushing a backhand just wide into the tramlines and Safina quickly takes advantage setting up a game point with a forehand passing shot whipped across court and holding with a service winner.

  9. 1-0 - SAFINA BREAKS! This'll be a day that Kanepi will want to forget. She's only got 35% of her first serves in so far. That's just not good enough at this level. Well, at any level really.

  10. 6-2 - SAFINA TAKES THE SET! A very comfortable first set for Safina there as she closes it out with a solid service game that ends when Kanepi hits a forehand into the net. 14 unforced errors in the set from the Estonian, compared with only 8 winners, and more importantly only 8 unforced errors from Safina

  13. 4-1 - KANEPI HOLDS! Finally! Her unforced error counting is still steadily rising but an ace out wide, her second, sees Kanepi get off the mark. Maybe that will steady her nerves

  14. 4-0 - Safina holds again to deuce with a forehand winner that she landed right on the baseline - Kanepi makes a challenge but hawkeye shows the ball to have caught the back of the line

  15. 3-0 - SAFINA BREAKS AGAIN! All the Russian has to do at the moment is get the ball into play as Kanepi is having a shocker. A second double fault does not help the Estonian and her unforced error count is now up to 9. In three games.

  16. 2-0 - Safina holds to cement the break but no before a bit of a battle as Kanepi pushes her to deuce. This match is not really about winners so far, although Safina did produce one off the forehand side to hold, but both players are yet to find their range and the number of errors in the first two games are pretty high!
