  1. 6-3 - The previous game proved to be the decisive one as Zvonareva breaks Asarenka's serve for a second time and takes the second set and the match. Thanks for joining us, Ana Ivanovic against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova follows later.

  2. 5-3 - Surely the key game of the match, as Zvonareva saves three break points on her serve to emerge the winner and hold - just the one more game required for the Russian now.

  3. 4-3 - Azarenka holds to love as she finds form a little too late it looks like. Zvonareva is given very little chance to get into the points as her opponent is assertive throughout.

  4. 4-2 - Azarenka takes Zvonareva to deuce, but the Russian finishes the game unscathed and reestablishes her two-game advantage.

  5. 3-2 - Azarenka looks more confident in holding this time, with two fine first serves which give her cheap points to help set up the game.

  6. 3-1 - Zvonareva consolidates her lead to set herself up for a straight sets win if she can hold her nerve in the next three service games.

  7. 2-1 - Azarenka stumbles through her service game in unconvincing fashion to narrow the deficit at 2-1 after saving a break point.

  8. 2-0 - Azarenka shows a glimpse of coming back into the match with two fine forehands to test Zvonareva, but the Russian storms back with a powerful winner on her opponent's serve to take a second-set break.

  9. 6-3 - Zvonareva clinches the first set 6-3 as the Russian takes a firm grip on the match. Azarenka hasn't managed to trouble her opponent yet, and she will have to be more assertive in this second set.

  10. 5-3 - Azarenka and Zvonareva each hold as the Russian moves just one game away from taking the first set...

  11. 4-2 - Zvonareva steps up her game to take a crucial first-set break, with Azarenka losing her composure and being outmaneouvered from the back of the court.

  12. 3-2 - Zvonareva regains her lead with some effective serving out to Azarenka's back-hand. The Russian loses just a single point, with no real pressure on her serve as yet.

  13. 2-2 - Azarenka levels at 2-2 with a crisp back-handed pass as Zvonareva fails to exert much pressure on her opponent's serve.

  14. 2-1 - Zvonareva goes 2-1 up with some patient play from the back of the court - the Russian also looks to have good control over her first serve this evening.

  15. 1-1 - Both players hold without fuss in their opening service games as neither makes any inroads with their returns.

  16. - - Vera Zvonareva and Victoria Azarenka are set to battle it out in the first women's semi-final at the Indian Wells Masters. Ana Ivanovic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova face each other in the second semi-final later on.
