  1. 22:01 - A bit of a mixed win from Murray there but a win nonetheless and Murray will face either face Rafael Nadal or Andy Roddick in tomorrow afternoon's final

  2. 1-6 - This time Murray gets it - Federer slaps long and MURRAY BOOKS HIS PLACE IN THE FINAL!

  3. 40-A - Murray seems a little gun-shy in closing this match out as he again hits long. But fortunately for him Federer also seems unable to take his chances as the world number two hits out to give Murray a fourth match point ...

  4. 40-A - Again though Murray is unable to take advantage of the opportunity and he slaps a forehand down the centre of the court long. Murray sets up a third match point with a forehand winner into the open court ...

  5. 40-A - Murray tries to wrong-foot Federer on the baseline by going back behind him to the backhand side but he puts too much on his forehand and sends the ball flying wide. Federer gifts the Scot a second chance to close out the match though sending his cross court forehand wide ...

  6. 40-A - A much more agressive, even angry, game from Federer seems the world number two with two break back points ... the first goes begging as Federer slaps a forehand return of serve long. Federer also squanders the second slapping a forehand into the net. Another forehand into the net in quick succession and Murray has his first MATCH POINT of the day ...

  7. 1-5 - Federer has seems to have completely lost focus now as MURRAY BREAKS FOR A SECOND TIME to leave him serving for the match

  8. 1-4 - Murray sets up game points with an inch-perfect forehand right on the sideline. Federer's backhand once again goes astray and Andy Murray is just two games from the final as he holds to cement the break

  9. 1-3 - Murray goes to ground holding his groin as he attempts to change direction at short notice. If anything though it seems to distact Federer more than the Scot and MURRAY GRABS A BREAK when the world number two slaps a backhand approach shot long

  10. 1-2 - Both players really are playing their best tennis now and, despite a double fault at 40-30, Murray holds with an ace down the T

  11. 1-1 - Federer has the final word after a lengthy cross court battle tricking Murray with a down the line bluff before sending an angled back hand winner across into the open court

  12. 0-1 - Federer really has stepped up his return of serve as this match has gone on but he can't quite find enough to earn himself a break point and Murray holds to open the third set

  13. 6-4 - FEDERER TAKES THE SECOND SET to level up the match with a solid service game, finished up with a half volley backhand winner into the open court. As with the last three meetings between them - this one will go to a deciding third set

  14. 5-4 - A better service game from Murray as he holds to 15 when Federer pushes his cross court forehand wide of the tramlines. Federer will still have the opportunity to serve out the set though, after the change of ends

  15. 5-3 - The crowd is loving this now as Federer holds with a forehand smash across court, despite Murray's best efforts to chase down what should have been an un-playable forehand on the previous shot. Federer holds though and it will be Murray serving to stay in this second set

  16. 4-3 - Hello, signs of life once more from Federer as he sets up three break points ... Murray saves the first two with Federer incorrectly challenging on both ... but FEDERER BREAKS drilling a forehand down the line for a winner at the third attempt

  17. 3-3 - Federer holds to deuce with a battling game to halt Murray's run of three straight games - can he come back at the Scot from here?!

  18. 2-3 - It's hard work for Murray as Federer pushes him to 30-30 but the Scot gets his nose in front for the first time in this set, slamming down his third ace of the match to hold

  19. 2-2 - A very agressive game from Murray as he produces a sublime dipping backhand return of serve to put pressure on Federer. One error later and the world number two is staring at a break point ... the Scot draws Federer into the net before whipping a backhand passing shot across court and MURRAY BREAKS BACK. We are back on level terms

  20. 2-1 - Better from Murray as he holds to 30 to restrict his opponent to just the one break. Federer challenges on the final point of the game after umpire Steve Ulrich calls his forehand down the line out but once again it's an unsuccessful challenge and Murray is off the mark

  21. 2-0 - An emphatic service hold from Federer to cement the break. He races up to the net on game point, dinks a forehand half volley over the net before sending a backhand volley into the open court for the winner

  22. 1-0 - A series of unforced errors from Murray, including a double fault and tame forehand into the net as Federer approaches, hands the world number two immediate break points in this second set ... Murray gets a little lucky on the first as he forehand cross court passing shot bounces of the top of the net and goes for a winner ... but FEDERER BREAKS at the second attempt when Murray's forehand flies wide of the sideline

  23. 3-6 - Federer charges up to the net to bounce on a shorter ball from Murray but the world number two slices the backhand wide of the sidelines in an almost dis-interested way. He turns away quickly understandably annoyed with himself and MURRAY HAS THE FIRST SET

  24. 30-40 - Federer loses a challenge on his forehand, to be fair the ball was a long way out and the world number two must have known that before he consulted hawkeye. No harm in trying though, all his challenges were intact and the set is soon to be done with. It was unsuccessflu though and Murray has his first set point ...

  25. 3-5 - Murray fires down his second ace of the day to claim his fifth game and leave Federer serving to stay in the opening set

  26. 3-4 - Better from Federer as he comes up with a trio of solid first serves, his statistic on the first serve so far is simply too low against as good a returner as Murray - sitting at just 53 per cent. Still he's just the one break of serve behind

  27. 2-4 - A very quick, emphatic hold of serve from Murray to cement the break including a fairly rountine winner off the half-volley which the Scot places right on the baseline before a service winner out wide to the forehand that simply beats Federer for pace. Murray is looking comfortable

  28. 2-3 - Murray comes out on top with a forehand winner after of another long and punishing rally and now he is the one holding break points, two to be precise ... Federer slaps an impatient-looking forehand wide across court and MURRAY GRABS THE FIRST BREAK

  29. 2-2 - Federer is looking very agressive out on court already as he runs around his backhand to fire an inside out forehand across court and on to the sideline for a winner. It brings up three break points for the Swiss player ... The first goes begging when Federer's return of serve drifts wide, the second is also squandered as a backhand passing shot drops just long ... and Murray levels at deuce when Federer puts a backhand into the net after a very long rally. Murray goes on to hold after another couple of errors from Federer

  30. 2-1 - Federer comes up with a sublime backhand after Murray's cross court backhand return of serve and drills it down the line for a winner - that, people, is a new string to Federer's bow. The world number two has found himself trapped in the corner on the backhand side unable to change to direction on the ball. Apparently not any more!

  31. 1-1 - The crowd are already really into this match, getting right behind the two players, as Murray also holds with ease to get his account of the mark. The Scot comes up with a stunning angled forehand winner to start the game and an equally emphatic ace to end it

  32. 1-0 - A solid start from Federer as he opens to 15 with a forehand winner, a delicate sliced backhand drop shot winner and an ace to close out the game

  33. 0-0 - So here we go then, tennis fans, it's a beautiful day in California today. This is for the right to play either Rafael Nadal or Andy Roddick in tomorrow's final. Murray won the toss and elected to receive

  34. 20:01 - So the players are out on the court and going through their warm-up so we should be getting underway in around about 10 minutes

  35. 19:55 - Murray has a 15-1 win-loss ratio for the year, with two titles to his name, while Federer has also only lost one match but has played slightly less winning nine. There is little to chose between the two players today though as both are returning from some enforced time off the tour - Federer with a back injury and Murray with a virus

  36. 19:50 - We all know the history between these two players but here's a quick refresher for those whose brains have been addled by the dramatic conclusion to the Six Nations a few minutes ago - seven meetings, five wins for Murray including the last three clashes. But the really big one, the US Open final last September, saw Federer triumph comfortably in straight sets

  6. Roger, please get a full time coach , preferably Darren Cahill,or someone else to help you with tactics and mental strength. This match you should win.You were so good at the beggining of the third set,but than Murray fell and suddenly you started to lose.Weird. I want you to win many more tournaments, but Nadal and Murray right now have you in a mental stranglehold. Surely you're putting yourself at a disadvantage by not having someone in your corner dedicated to your course. Please, please, please get someone in to toughen you up mentally to beat these guys.I know you can do it and win many more GS.But you have to hire a full time coach.Please.And sorry but if only Federer had continued to play like he played at the beggining of the third set, before Murray fell,he would have beat Murray. That is all.
