6-2 -
ZVONAREVA HAS WON - the biggest title of career so far. Ivanovic gave up the first match point with a volley into the net - she saved the first but then gave away another straight away. This time Zvonareva took it as a good return forced Ivanovic to go long. The Russian was just the more consistent player on the day and that saw her win. Men's final coming up soon.
5-2 - Ivanovic screws another shot well wide and Zvonareva manages to hold to 15. She moves just one game away now as Ivanovic's game has fallen apart in this wind.
4-2 -
BREAK Zvonareva!! And that could be the key game of the match. Ivanovic was 40-15 in front but good defensive play from the Russian saw her take four points in row. She just kept the ball in play and let Ivanovic make the mistakes.
3-2 - Another nice hold to 30 from Zvonareva as she begins to motor again - maybe this match won't be on for too much longer - Ivanovic needs to step up now.
2-2 -
Eight points in a row for Zvonareva as she now breaks to love. Ivanovic just a little off with her shots and with this wind that becomes a big deal. Still hard to see where this match will go next because so many unusual points are being played.
1-2 - Zvonareva with a quick love service game - we havent seen too many of them! It is going to be a LONG match this one, especially if it goes to a third set.
0-2 - Some comical points in another really long game. Ivanovic holds but she had to save three points in the process. Zvonareva on one point produced an amazingly well improvised shot when the ball completely changed direction and then fresh aired an Ivanovic serve later which led to the first ace of the match.
0-1 -
Superb response from Ivanovic who manages to break to 30 - firing two great winners in a row to wrap up the game. She was all over a weak second serve on break point and powered it home for a clean winner.
7-6 -
Ivanovic storms back from 4-2 down to go 5-4 in front in the breaker but then she loses the plot and gives up three points in a row to lose the set. A poor forehand smashed hard into the net hands the set to the Russian.
6-6 - Ivanovic misses a big chance to break after another marathon game. Ivanovic had three set points but couldn't convert with any despite having some chances. Each point has an element of lottery about it as the wind is really quite ridiculous at the moment. Zvonareva nearly fell over trying to fire one toss up.
5-6 - Solid hold to 15 from Ivanovic sees her move to within a game of the set. She is hitting the ball better out of the two players and now she is getting used to the conditions too which is making her the more dangerous player.
5-5 - Zvonareva with the rarest of things in this match - a reasonably comfortable hold. That is her first for game awhile. You feel this first set could be very crucial.
4-5 - Ivanovic wins another long, tough game that could have gone either way - this is turning into a long match already - very difficult for either player to get much rhythm going and it is a bit of a war of attrition out there.
4-4 -
Superb break by Ivanovic as she holds to love - great shot making throughout with the last point being a thrilling point between the two players that ended when Zvonareva put a defensive volley into the net. The crowd loved that one.
4-3 - Ivanovic gets a much need hold to 30 on the board to stop the run of four Zvonareva games in a row.
4-2 - Ivanovic just can't produce her usual shots in these conditions and Zvonareva is just doing enough to take home the games. Another tough hold but a hold is like a break in these conditions.
3-2 -
So difficult to serve in these conditions - Ivanovic does very well to get back to 30-30 after being 0-30 down before a double fault gives up a break point. She saves that one but then eventually gives up another one and this time double fault number four sees Zvonareva break. Three games in a row for the Russian.
2-2 - Zvonareva enjoys her first hold of the match but she has to come back from 15-30 down to do so - she seems to be finding her rhythm now though and has calmed down after being so annoyed early on.
1-2 -
Zvonareva breaks straight back - Ivanovic again has problems with the wind which seems to be gusting even more now - she saves one break point with a superb pass down the line but then gives up another with a double fault. This time she gives up the game by putting a backhand wide.
0-2 -
Zvonareva hammers her racquet down in disgust as she is broken in the first game. She struggled in that game to deal with Ivanovic's power in a long game that went to a couple of deuces. So a strong start from the Serbian.
0-1 - Ivanovic struggles a little to get her first serves in as she tries to deal with the wind. She had a double fault in that game - but her ground strokes are still solid enough and she holds to 30.
- - Quiet windy here as well though so that could play a factor too - we are about to get underway.
- - Both players have just come out and the sun is shining in California.
- -
Zvonareva is actually the higher seed (fourth to fifth) and is also the favourite with the bookmakers to win this match.
- -
Ivanovic is looking to defend the title she won her last year but she has been off form in the last six months and is looking for her first title since Linz in October last year.
- - Ivanovic leads the career series 4-3, but lost their last encounter at the year-ending Tour Championships when she was slowed by illness.
- - Welcome to our LIVE coverage of the women's final from Indian Wells as Vera Zvonareva takes on Ana Ivanovic.
