7-5 -
Advantage Azarenka now after Kuznetsova hits the net... another baseline rally and Kuznetsova goes long and that's it! Game, set and match to Azarenka, she's in her first top-tier final at the age of 19!
6-5 - Amazing shot by Kuznetsova! A wonderful return deep to the baseline was sent back to her then BOOM a ferocious double-handed backhand brings it to deuce!
6-5 - Two match points to Azarenka! She's 40-15 up but needs a second serve, which Kuznetsova returns with venom and it spins off Azarenka's racquet and out! 40-30...
6-5 -
There's two break points for Azarenka now, 40-15 and she takes it after a rally sees her send a forehand pass away from the Russian, 6-5 and serving for the match again!
5-5 -
Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Azarenka goes from match point to being broken after two poor errors.
5-4 - Good opening rally which Kuznetsova wins with Azarenka sprawling... now at 30-30 and Kuznetsova is controlling this with Azarenka running the full width twice and she dives into the corner, will she get there, she does! A brilliant pass down the line that just stays in and leaves the Russian stunned! Match point! But after another immense rally Kuznetsova battles back to deuce!
5-4 - Kuznetsova starts off bulldozing her way to hold, but a double fault and then a good return see it 40-30... She holds though, eventually, and Azarenka serves for the match!
5-3 - This game starts with a good rally but Azarenka manages to evade the Russian with a clipped backhand that she can't reach. She scrapes through that service game from deuce and Kuznetsova has to save to stay in the match.
4-3 - Azarenka runs around a touch more than she should as Kuznetsova holds, 4-3. Understandably she wants to finish this sooner though.
4-2 - Azarenka survives a brief fightback to 40-30 to hold serve and all she needs to do now is keep her concentration and hold again...
3-2 - She holds but Azarenka still has the lead, a break up in the final set.
3-1 - Unforced error at 40-30 means Kuznetsova has to work from deuce to hold...
3-1 - This is a never-ending game it seems, back to advantage Azarenka again after a fluked shot catches Kuznetsova out. The Belarusian acknowledges her fortune. Eventually, Azarenka holds.
2-1 - Advantage Kuznetsova again but back to deuce after Azarenka smashes it down the line.
2-1 - This is a great game that swings between the pair and is now at advantage to the serving Azarenka after a great rally sees her pass it cooly past Kuznetsova. But a lovely backhand volley at the net brings it back to deuce.
2-1 - Kuznetsova holds comfortably enough, 2-1.
2-0 - Break point to Kuznetsova but a powerful first serve by Azarenka sees the Russian net the return, deuce... Azarenka holds after one good serve and a rally that ends in an unforced error, long from Kuznetsova.
1-0 - A wasted challenge from Azarenka, who went wide but for some reason insisted on using it up so early in the final set with her service game at 15-15.
1-0 -
This is a topsy-turvy match and a half - Azarenka storms to three break points up, although Kuznetsova cuts it to two... she puts it into the net after a good return from her second serve and Azarenka breaks immediately!
2-6 -
But, right on cue, Kuznetsova breaks back with an imperious forehand to win the second set and set up a tantalising third and final set.
2-5 -
But Azarenka breaks back! Kuznetsova seemed to be in control but a few unforced errors and a good final return from the Belarusian.
1-5 -
Another break point for the Russian, 40-30 up but this time she goes long after Azarenka sends her return back with interest - not quite an unforced error but she should have done better. Kuznetsova gets the double break after a challenge shows Azarenka's shot to have been very long. Now she will serve to take this to a third set.
1-4 - Love service game and a hold for Kuznetsova, who is right back in this match after Azarenka seemed to have sussed her. She's the more powerful woman so perhaps no surprise that she would make that count as it progresses.
1-3 -
A brilliant crosscourt forehand from Kuznetsova despite falling over earlier in that rally, taking a 15-0 lead on Azarenka's serve. She breaks too! 3-1 to the Russian.
1-2 - Azarenka threatens to break but Kuznetsova battles back to deuce and has the advantage after a poor forehand from Azarenka. But, just after getting back in control, the Russian fails to exploit a mis-hit from Azarenka and skews a wild shot out. Eventually she holds though, with a nice ace.
1-1 - What? No break? It's true! Two successive games go with serve for the first time in the match.
0-1 - Deuce after a dodgy start from Kuznetsova, who is serving, but her serve gets a bit more kick and Azarenka struggles to return. The Russian holds though, after some testing rallies.
6-3 -
Azarenka threatens to mess up but a great drop shot takes her after Kuznetsova's lob left her baseline takes it to set point at 40-30... Second serve to Kuznetsova but a mistake to put it into the net, four games in a row and set one to Azarenka!
5-3 -
A superb series of returns from Azarenka sees her earn three break points, the last one being a wonderfully powerful cross-court forehand into the left corner. A love break! Kuznetsova went long with a poor backhand chip. Azarenka seems to have sussed the bounce on Kuznetsova's serve and is serving for the set.
4-3 - Now there is a break point for Kuznetsova after Azarenka misjudges a shot. Kuznetsova dominates the next rally but mis-hits into the net, sending the ball spinning wide. 30-40. Deuce now after Kuznetsova hits a service return wide and now advantage Azarenka when she plays an excellent shot down the line. Game Azarenka after a sweeping rally culminates in a drive down the right with Kuznetsova stranded.
3-3 -
Looked like it was going to a love game for Kuznetsova but Azarenka battles back to 30-40, exploiting the Russian's inability to win points on her second serve, and now it is deuce. The next rally sees Azarenka under real pressure but a poor mis-hit off the frame of the racquet gives Azarenka to turn thos to an advantage! And she takes her chance, hitting the ball really hard and Kuznetsova mis-hits AGAIN, into the net and it's 3-3! The Russian fell apart there.
2-3 -
Break point for Kuznetsova, 40-15, using the forehand and backhand to send Azarenka scuttling around before placing it to her left. Second serve now... a good little rally sees Azarenka race off-balance into the corner and this has to be a winner and it is! There was no way she was getting up after flying into that shot, Kuznetsova stunned. 40-30... but oh dear, an unforced error sees Azarenka send it too long and it's a third game on the trot for the Russian.
2-2 - Great shot by Azarenka to get another break point, a clever shot clipping the line, but a good change of serve from Kuznetsova catches her out and it's deuce. A poor double fault from Kuznetsova, terrible second serve some way long to hand another break point to Azarenka, but the Russian wins the rally to take it back to deuce... a hold for Kuznetsova after one wild return from Azarenka and a rally using the full width of the court that just stretches the Belarusian too far.
2-1 -
Kuznetsova has a chance to break back after the first double fault of the match by Azarenka, who then plays KuznetsovaÂ’s return into the net for 2-1. Good response from the Russian.
2-0 -
Azarenka with a chance to break after a powerful baseline rally sees Kuznetsova over-egg one forehand... second serve and a powerful return that stretches Kuznetsova and she plays the following shot into the net while stumbling, break to Azarenka.
1-0 - First game of the match is a hold for Azarenka.
- -
This semi-final clash between Russian Kuznetsova and Belarusian Azarenka gets underway with the latter serving, winning the opening point with a nicely disguised pass down the line.

to Alexander K...i was not gonna argue about that, but eurosport had to decide how exactly they should spell her last name...thats it. no need to tell me the difference in the languages, neither transcription nor transliteration - thanks anyway )
it's a regular problem with Belarusian names. Due to 2 national languages (Belarusian and Russian) we all have 2 variants of name's pronunciation. The "official" one (AzarenkA in this case) is the Latin transcription made according to French transliteration rules from the Belarusian variant of Cyrilic spelling. Whereby AzarenkO is simply the Russian pronunciation of the name ;-)
Olga: what is wrong with Eurosport ? Ok. where do I begin ? Eurosport is a bad excuse for a sports network !!
ok then, congrats to Vika!!!! very well done. good luck in a final against one of the best players!!! will be very hard....
Жыве Белар усь!!! )))))))))))))))
Olga...fancy a game of tennis with me?.... : )
the pleasure is all ours, queen of the boards, enjoy the tryst but don't be too naughty. hope sveta winning gives you a boost.
go beat williams sister
2Olga: if I WANT to do smth I DO it, not just bulls**t 'bout it in interviews. The fact is - she would never be playing like this if she were training and living in Russia all the time
Every more or less public person from Russia has to say at least from time to time that she/he wants to live and work/train their. Especially all the government guys want to live there, but somehow the majority of their kids live abroad
Alexander: that could be a good reason but it also takes hard work and dedication to succeed !!
whats wrong with eurosport....they say AzarenkA - then AzarenkO...shame. they don't know themselves what is right.
It is all over. Azarenka wins !!
guys i am smiling )))))))))) thanks for a very good mood for coming night )))))))))) cheers
#16, not all of them. Sveta wants to train and live in Russia - read her last interview.
Hoorah!

2Tim: what all these top Russian players are definitely doing right is training OUTSIDE of Russia ;-)
Olga you can call me darling, please do. Sveta must break now or Vika might win this and the title itself.
