  1. - - As a few of you are indicating, Nadal looks in typically ominous form looking ahead to the French Open, but credit to Djokovic who sits with a glum expression on his seat, but contributed much to a superb final. Thanks for joining us!

  2. - - Despite Djokovic showing impressive resolve in coming back in the second set, Nadal had a different level which he found when he needed it in the final set. Whether Djokovic's back problem contributed to his defeat will be debated, but Nadal was a worthy winner.

  3. - - The presentation props are ushered out on court quicker than the players can get to their chairs - clearly the Monte Carlo spectators are keen to see Nadal lift the trophy as quick as possible.

  4. 6-1 - He's done it, Nadal clinches victory with a forehand cross-court and he sinks to his knees and clenches his fists in delight! He takes the decisive set 6-1 and his class shone through in the end.

  5. 5-1 - Djokovic hangs his head as he tamely slices a forehand into the net, and Nadal now has three match points to win the Monte Carlo Masters.

  6. 5-1 - Djokovic looks increasingly despondent as he double-faults to hand Nadal another break and an opportunity to serve out for the tournament! The Serb looks a beaten man now, if his body-language is anything to go by.

  7. 4-1 - Nadal crashes a backhand down the line to confound Djokovic, who stands mid-court, hands on hips as the world number one moves to 15-30.

  8. 4-1 - Nadal demonstrates his intent by jogging at the change of ends, with Djokovic looking extremely focused mentally, but with his physical condition in question compared to his opponent.

  9. 4-1 - Nadal holds his serve in convincing fashion to extend his final-set lead to 4-1. Djokovic has it all to do now, with the Spaniard unflinching in his aggressive approach.

  10. 3-1 - Finally the Serb folds, and Nadal breaks once more with a deep forehand to seize the advantage in this final set. The Spaniard forced two break points as he attacked Djokovic's serve with real determination, and refused to let his level drop at all.

  11. 2-1 - Djokovic breaks back! The Serb somehow stays in the game, refusing to budge as Nadal throws everything at him, but another extended rally sees the Spaniard hit a backhand long, and we're back on serve in this thrilling final set. Can Djokovic hold now to level at 2-2?

  12. 2-0 - Another 10 minute-plus game on Nadal's serve, sways one way then the other, with Nadal producing one stunning winner down the line at full stretch, and Djokovic sliding desperately to stay in every rally.

  13. 2-0 - Nadal breaks Djokovic after hanging on in the game with relentless determination; the Serb smashes a ball out of the Centre Court in frustration as his opponent moves into a 2-0 lead.

  14. 1-0 - Nadal denies Djokovic on game point again and again, as the Serb gets increasingly agitated with his inability to close out the service hold. The Serb kisses the air after bringing up another advantage, but a double-fault takes the game back to deuce once more.

  15. 1-0 - Djokovic hurls his racquet at the floor after a third break point is saved by Nadal with more superb defence, but he manages to overturn a poor line call with a correct challenge. Nadal wins the 13-minute game though, to lead in this decisive set.

  16. 0-0 - Sections of the crowd again rise to their feet as an epic rally culminates in Nadal stretching full-length to reach a drop shot from Djokovic and save the break point.

  17. 0-0 - Djokovic starts the third set in dynamic fashion, drawing Nadal outwide on his backhand side and reaching 0-30, with a good base for a potential break of serve.

  18. 2-6 - That's it, Djokovic levels at 1-1, and we have an intriguing third set on our hands! The Serb showed real resolve in holding his nerve and making his first serves count, and Nadal could do little to counter.

  19. 2-5 - Djokovic is serving for the second set with new balls, and makes a confident start with a fierce first serve which Nadal can't return, but Nadal pressures him into a poor forehand. The Serb then opens up the court with a forehand outwide, before hammering a winner down the line for 30-15.

  20. 2-5 - Nadal forces Djokovic to serve out for the second set, holding his serve to 15, with his opponent over-hitting a forehand to hand him the game. Can Djokovic hold his nerve now?

  21. 1-5 - Djokovic punches the air in delight as he holds serve to lead 5-1, with a crunching forehand outwide to Nadal's forehand, then a half-volley short in the deuce court, which the Spaniard can't reach. The Serb is now agonisingly close to clinching the second set.

  22. 1-4 - Djokovic breaks again to take a 4-1 lead in this second set! The Serb was relentless in his groundstrokes, minimising unforced errors, and pounding cross-court to Nadal's backhand at every opportunity. He wins the game by powering a deep forehand which Nadal can only hit long.

  23. 1-3 - Djokovic finally seals the game after an extended deuce, forcing Nadal into an error and extending his lead to 1-3 in this second set - the Serb looks positively sprightly around the court, with his back seemingly not an issue.

  24. 1-2 - Djokovic recovers to take the game into deuce, and with a precise first serve out to Nadal's backhand he brings up game point.

  25. 1-2 - Nadal takes an early advantage on the Djokovic serve, winning the first two points to move to 0-30, with the onus firmly on the Serb to take control with some big first serves.

  26. 1-2 - Djokovic pegs Nadal back on game point, as the Spaniard puts his forehand wide; but Nadal holds his serve a point later, with Djokovic putting a backhand wide. This set is intriguingly poised. The Serb's serve is likely to be put under immense pressure in this next game, can he hold?

  27. 0-2 - A superb sliced ace outwide from Djokovic gives him 30-15 on his serve, before he consolidates his break of serve with a solid hold, finishing the game with two fierce forehands.

  28. 0-1 - An unbelievable rally is won by Djokovic as Nadal desperately hangs on in the point, but the Serb clinches the point with a smash after dragging his opponent outwide - he looks in fine fettle now, Djokovic.

  29. 0-0 - Djokovic looks to be moving much better already, and he forces a break point on Nadal's serve with a powerful forehand down the line which the Spaniard miscues wide.

  30. 6-3 - Nadal clinches the set 6-3, as Djokovic capitulates on his serve under pressure from the Spaniard, who looks to be stepping in for the kill with his opponent seemingly hampered with his back problem. The Serb battled every point, but Nadal's movement is so sharp, he can't match that level.

  31. 5-3 - Nadal extends his lead to 5-3 with a service hold as Djokovic is clearly struggling to remain loose with his back trouble, but is remaining competitive in the rallies at present.

  32. 4-3 - As expected, Djokovic receives treatment on his lower back, with Nadal attempting to remain warm during the delay.

  33. 4-3 - Nadal slams a backhand winner, cross-court past Djokovic, as yet another game goes to deuce; a wide backhand from the Serb then gives his opponent the advantage. One side note, as Djokovic clutches his lower back at the end of two points, looking in pain.

  34. 3-3 - Another stunning point bring sections of the crowd to their feet, as again Djokovic brings Nadal to the net with a drop-shot, but this time his lob goes long, with his opponent having given up the point.

  35. 3-3 - Nadal levels at 3-3 with a blistering backhand cross-court winner which leaves Djokovic applauding, dumbfounded. The standard of this match is incredibly high.

  36. 2-3 - An enthralling point develops as Nadal scrambles to keep a drop shot in play, before scampering back to smash the subsequent lob, then firing a winner down the line - incredible defence from the Spaniard.

  37. 2-3 - But no sooner had Djokovic edged his way in front in this first set, but Nadal comes roaring back, breaking Djokovic to love as we are back on serve again. The Serb simply had no answer, as his opponent bludgeoned returns deep back onto his baseline.

  38. 1-3 - Djokovic breaks for a second time as he pounces on some tepid serving from Nadal and grabs the first-set advantage with an array of crushing groundstrokes. The Serb's movement around the court has been superb.

  39. 1-2 - Another extended deuce on the Nadal serve, as Djokovic refuses to let his opponent settle and find his rhythm - the Serb has to be commended for that, every game so far has been fiercely contested.

  40. 1-2 - The crowd are willing this match to be a classic, and every point dominated by Djokovic is given a seal of approval, with Nadal so heavily backed for victory.

  41. 1-2 - Djokovic holds to 30, with his serve coming to his aid at just the right time as Nadal was looking to dominate and apply the pressure once more. The Serb looks determined not to be dictated to in this match.

  42. 1-1 - But Djokovic is undeterred and breaks straight back to level at 1-1. The Serb showed real conviction in taking Nadal to deuce with a powerful cross-court forehand, then clinching the game by forcing an error from his opponent with dogged persistence.

  43. 1-0 - Djokovic, with bright blue shoes matching his shirt, drills a backhand down the line which almost clips the line for a winner, but instead prompts a frustrated shout from the Serb as it is called out, giving Nadal 30-15 on his serve.

  44. 1-0 - An unbelievable cross-court pass by Nadal gives him a stunning break of serve in the opening game of the match. Djokovic did little wrong on his serve, but the Spaniard seized the initiative.

  45. - - After defeating Andy Murray in the semi-final, Nadal has looked in ominously good form, with Djokovic dispatching of Stanislas Wawrinka in his semi, showing a mixed bag. Djokovic will serve first.

  46. - - Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic take to the court, warming up vigorously as they do so, for the final of the Monte Carlo Masters.

  1. Davor,

The ugliest tennis player title has already been awarded...Radek Stepanek deserves this award.

    Murray actually looks quite good.

  2. Davor, who gives a rat's arse what a player looks like. it's not important, and not many people actually care. Djokovic haters, i have no words for you, since nothing will penetrate your thick skulls. same thing over over again, quitter this, quitter that... it's getting old.

  4. Since to that loser every defeat his down to injuries, does he mean that he would be No1 if not of them? Does he mean he would beat all his opponents? What a bad player he is. Come hear him when he wins: a mouthy dog.

I do agree with u fella. That Djokocheat is just disrespectful of all the other players. Each time he is down losing, he pretends injury. I have grown to totally see him as one the worst players in this game, as far as fair play is concerned and giving credit to his opponents when he is beaten.
