4-6 -
That's it! All over! Gonzalez serves out the set and the match, and earns himself a match-up with Rafa Nadal in tomorrow's semi-finals. Thanks for joining us, and we'll see you then.
4-5 -
It's long! That's the break! And Gonzalez will serve for the match!
- - Monaco saves the break with a lovely forehand, but then pulls one wide left to give another try to his opponent.
- - Break point for Gonzalez as he forces the error from Monaco, pushing the Argentinian back until he nets.
- - Monaco starts off a lovely service game with a cracking drop-volley at the net - Tim Henman would have been proud of that one - but Gonzalez pegs him back with good forehand winners at both 40-0 and 40-15, and before we know it it's deuce..
4-4 - Gonzalez hangs on, and we're just a few games away from the likely-looking tie-break decider.
- - Monaco has pushed Gonzalez to 30-30, and has a half-chance of getting something out of this one.
4-3 - Monaco hangs on to make a great save of serve...
- - Gonzalez takes Monaco to deuce on his serve... but then the ball takes a low bounce off the baseline tape to scupper the Chilean.
3-3 - Monaco wins a couple of points off Gonzalez to put the Chilean's serve under pressure, but then blows it with a couple of unforced errors. He's losing his edge a little now.
3-2 - Now it's Monaco's turn to hold, and it feels like both players are happy for this to head to a tie-break decider. It's like watching the last few minutes of extra time at a football match where the teams are just counting down time waiting for penalties. Can one of these two take the match by the scruff of the neck?
2-2 - It's a straight-back-atcha hold from Gonzalez, whose armour seems chink-free at the moment.
2-1 - Monaco holds the next game, but Gonzalez is pushing him hard now - you feel he might crack soon.
1-1 - Gonzalez's fiery forehand is working at full tilt now, and he's looking unstoppable on his own serve.
1-0 - Juan Monaco - who has changed his shirt from white to green - cruises through his first service game of the final set.
3-6 -
The backhand winner is there from Gonzalez, and he's grabbed the second set. This could still go either way...
- - Monaco has forced deuce, but Gonzalez jumps quickly to advantage to earn a set point...
3-5 -
Gonzalez is finding some superb form now, jumping on to anything that Monaco offers and winning a good break of serve. He's serving for the set now... but Monaco broke him back earlier, can he do so again?
3-4 - Gonzalez is ramping it up a bit, drawing on his anger to fire him through - he wins his latest service game to love with a series of big serves and cracking forehands that leave Monaco literally sprawling on the floor at times.
3-3 - Monaco serves out the rest of the game, a model of calm professionalism.
- - Massive complaints there from Gonzalez about a line call at 30-0 - Hawkeye shows that the ball he's uppity about was miles long, and the crowd are openly jeering the Chilean now.
2-3 - Gonzalez gets past the deuce well to win the game.
- - A wild slash of a shot from Gonzalez at 40-30 in his next service game flies literally into the crowd, and we're at deuce.
2-2 - Monaco cruises through his next service game, racing to 0-40... but Gonzalez was about to get a point back when he chipped a simple volley straight into the net, earning jeers from the crowd that he has done so little to impress with his lack of sportsmanship.
1-2 -
There's the break back! Gonzalez goes wide with a forehand and that's the perfect response from Monaco.
- - Gonzalez gets back into the game, but Monaco forces first deuce and then a break point as the Chilean blasts well long.
- - Perfect response from Juan Monaco as he blasts a couple of lovely returns to get 0-30 and threaten the break back.
0-2 -
A bad slip frmo Monaco, who seems to be getting rattled by Gonzalez's antics - he's just had the umpire involved in an argument over yet another call - and loses his serve as his concentration is rattled.
0-1 - Gonzalez wins the game, but only as Monaco blows a simple chance to put away the volley that would have sent the game to deuce.
- - Gonzalez gets to 40-15, but then complains again about a line call on a deep shot by Monaco. Hawkeye keeps proving the Chilean wrong, he's just making himself look an idiot now.
- - Gonzalez is all over the place, shaking his head and looking cross. He is clearly not enjoying himself out there tonight.
6-2 -
Monaco whistles through his service game in no time at all to take the first set - and he is utterly dominant in this match at the moment.
5-2 -
Monaco takes the break! Superb play from the Argentinian to get through the deuce, grabbing the first break point that comes his way as he does so.
- - Gonzalez double faults and we go to deuce.
- - Another tight game is 30-30, but then Gonzalez flies into the net to thunder an unstoppable volley past Monaco.
4-2 - A tough-fought game for Monaco on his serve this time, but he curls a fizzing ace down the centre that bends out of reach to finish up the game.
3-2 - Gonzalez rattles through a service game, and is looking a little more settled now - despite his constant, bitter complaints about line calls under the floodlights.
3-1 - Crunching forehand from Juan Monaco gives him game point, and Gonzalez blazes long with his return to finish the game off.
- - Monaco edges a lengthy rally after Gonzalez looks promising at 0-30, then Gonzalez hits another unforced error and we're at 30-all.
2-1 - Gonzalez hits back to get on the scoreboard, getting to 40-15 with a crunching forehand winner before closing the game out.
2-0 - Monaco races through his first service game to love - that's two games without losing a single point! A beautiful angled drop-volley finished off that game and he's clearly well up for this one...
1-0 -
Woah... that's the break already! Appalling start for Gonzalez, who hit four terrible mistakes to give up his serve.
0-0 - Gonzalez gets the game under way, and quickly slips to 0-40 on his own serve...
- - Juan Monaco has never beaten Fernando Gonzalez in their four meetings - the latest of which was just last week in Barcelona - but coming off the back of wins against Andy Murray and Marin Cilic he will fancy his chances.
- - The players are warming up under the floodlights in Rome as they get ready for this quarter final.
- - More like it from Gonzalez, who rips a beautiful forehand winner to get to 40-15. Lovely shot.

gozales did not adhere himself to the crowd challenging so many calls and he was wrong on them all he made himself look an idiot no wonder the crowd were jeering him nadal will tear him to shreds tomor
Well it's a rematch of last year's gold medal game. Sleep well Gonzo! Rafa awaits. . .
go monaco
well well well that a score line i did not see comin 6-2 gonzales needs get his act together our this could be very quick
A good match, but the possibilities for both players to win against Nadal are...0%. Only a miracle can permit to Monaco - or Gonzales (but I'm sure that Monaco will win today) to win with the Spaniard. A miracle, or a injury
murray good player with terrible attitude he really does get on my nerves see glad to see monaco knock the geek out
I say, He played against Murray good enough :)
he has been having gr8 tournament rather impressive but against nadal he could not cope with his defence and attack far to strong for him
Its good to see Monaco play well,if he does win i would like to see how he plays the top seeds.
