  1. 6-3 - He's done it!! Federer sends a backhand into the doubles lines and Djokovic breaks again to seal the victory! Great comeback from Djokovic and the curse of the rain delay strikes again. Take nothing away from Djokovic though, he really upped his game when we came back after the rain and he will play Rafa Nadal or Fernando Gonzalez, which is coming up next LIVE.

  2. - - The first match point is saved by Federer as a Djokovic groundstroke goes long! Another one to come..

  3. - - Federer goes for a backhand winner but it goes wide and long and we're at match point!

  5. 5-3 - Not yet. More aggressive play from Djokovic means he takes the game. Federer serves to stay in the tournament!

  6. - - Federer is hanging his head in the manner that has become familiar over the last six months or so and all of a sudden he looks a beaten man! Can he come back from this?? 40-15 Djokovic.

  7. 4-3 - Djokovic gets the break! He was so good on defence in that game that Federer just couldn't find a way to win the rallies. Finally a backhand slice from Federer finds the net and the defending champ takes the lead! Brilliant stuff from the Serbian!

  8. - - But a Nadal-like defence sets up the forehand winner chance and Djokovic takes it to earn another break point!

  9. - - So close!! Brilliant hustle from Djokovic leads to a forehand winner attempt that just went millimetres wide for the break!

  10. - - It could come out now as Federer misses a sitter of a volley to give up a break point!

  11. - - Federer meanwhile goes about his business with the minimum of fuss, although we know that racquet-smashing temperament is in there somewhere!

  12. 3-3 - Djokovic comes through his service game, punctuated by a Henman-esque fist pump! This match is still impossible to call!

  13. - - Federer has a chance to make the pass for two break points, but Djokovic guesses right and it's 30-30.

  14. - - The quality of this match has gone down a couple of notches in the last twenty minutes or so, but it's making for an exciting deciding set!

  15. 2-3 - Djokovic breaks to love! If Djokovic put in a poor one a moment ago, this one from Federer was just as bad. A fine forehand from Djokovic confirms the break back to love!!

  16. - - Federer slaps a forehand into the net and Djokovic goes 0-30 up. Chance to strike right back here!

  17. 1-3 - A lapse in concentration from Djokovic allows Federer to claim the first break of the final set as the Serbian hits a forehand long!

  18. 1-2 - Fernando Gonzalez is an interested spectator courtside as Federer serves it out to go ahead once more.

  19. - - Djokovic screams with frustration as a forehand goes long and gives Federer the upper hand in this game.

  20. 1-1 - At deuce Djokovic becomes more aggressive and charges the net leading to two Federer errors. We're on serve here.

  21. - - After kicking off with a double fault, Djokovic asserts on serve, but Federer hits back after a brilliant rally to force deuce with an inside-out winner!

  22. 0-1 - That's about as good an answer as it's possible to give from Federer. A love service game to start the final set.

  23. - - What can Federer find at the start of the deciding set? It's the Swiss to serve.

  24. 6-3 - Djokovic takes the set with a love game and he really has upped his performance since going 3-2 down. Federer didn't do a massive amount wrong there, but one or two errors crept in and Djokovic punished him!

  25. - - Out of nowhere this match has turned right around and Djokovic is pumped up now. Another winner sees him two points from the set!

  26. 5-3 - What a rally! Djokovic hangs tough and finally after looking out of the rally at break point Federer mistimes one and Djokovic will serve for the set!!

  27. - - Federer frames one and Djokovic has break point again!

  28. - - A delightful drop shot from Djokovic takes the game to deuce!

  29. - - Djokovic has half a chance at 30-30, but a poor service return sees him chuck his racquet in the air in desperation!

  30. 4-3 - A wonderful backhand service return from Federer gets him back in the game, but an aggressive play from Djokovic pays off and he takes the lead for the first time in this set.

  31. - - Djokovic, seizing the opportunity to get back into this match hits his straps on serve and a beautiful forehand gives him two game points.

  32. 3-3 - A loose sliced backhand drifts long from Federer and after looking so secure on serve a couple of loose shots and we're back on serve!!

  33. - - As I say that, Federer fires a forehand long and Djokovic suddenly has break points!

  34. - - Federer looks almost back to his best today and he is outplaying Djokovic at times in this match. Another well constructed point from the Swiss brings the crowd to life once more!

  35. 2-3 - Djokovic hangs tough though and a Federer forehand finds the net to let the Serbian off the hook!

  36. - - Djokovic goes 30-0 up, but errors creep in and another long forehand gives Federer break point!

  37. 1-3 - Not on the evidence of that game! An ace seals a comfortable service game for Federer, who leads 3-1.

  38. - - It's Federer to serve after the 60 minute delay. Will the rain delay alter the course of this match??

  39. - - The skies are clear once again and the players are warming up ready to resume with Federer a set and a break up.

  40. - - We're just about ready to resume now. The players are loitering in the tunnel just off court and we should have some live action in the next five minutes or so.

  51. 0-1 - Djokovic couldn't hold Federer off for long though and he dumps a forehand into the net for an early break in the second set!

  52. - - A poor volley gives Federer another break point, but Djokovic snuffs it out with some aggressive play!

  53. - - A double fault gives Federer a 15-30 advantage, but a forehand flies long from the Swiss, as the skies darken in Rome.

  54. - - The defending champ is going to have to get over that incident quickly as the way he threw his arms up in despair at the end of that set indicates his continuing displeasure.

  55. 4-6 - With the minimum of fuss Federer serves it out for the first set as Djokovic eyes the crowd suspiciously. First blood to Federer in Rome!

  56. - - He should have been around in the 70's when the Rome tennis crowds were legendary for their questionable behaviour!

  57. - - Djokovic tries to have the perpetrator ejected for the whistle that cost him his serve!

  58. - - The defending champ not happy with the individual in the crowd whistling right at the point of contact on his second serve, but Federer has had many more break point chances.

  59. 4-5 - Djokovic's first serve goes miles wide and then a noise from the crowd puts Djokovic off. His forehand goes long and we have our first break!!

  60. - - Lovely play from Fed. He brings his opponent into the net and then rifles a backhand pass down the line! Break point again!

  61. - - A nice drop volley from the Serb gives him game point now.

  62. - - And a blistering forehand winner clips the top of the net to bring about deuce!

  63. - - Djokovic goes for a clean winner and he nails it! Right on the line to save one break point!!

  65. - - This match is considerably better than their last clash in Miami, although the weather here is much less windy.

  72. 3-2 - Djokovic recovers to hold, but after a good start to that game he looked shaky there for a while. He leads 3-2 though.

  78. 2-2 - Good serving from Federer and two errors from Djokovic allow the Swiss to hold more comfortably than appeared to be the case.

  81. 2-1 - Federer took the opening point, but couldn't follow it up, allowing Djokovic to hold comfortably to 15. Both players looking good in the early stages here.

  82. 1-1 - Three unforced errors from Djokovic and an ace from the Swiss means a love game for Federer to level.

  83. 1-0 - Another forehand winner from Djokovic finally claims an opening game in which Federer had two break point chances. Both players just finding their range early on here.

  84. - - A stunning forehand pass from Djokovic brings up game point for him.

  85. - - Djokovic has game point, but a long rally ends with Federer hitting a forehand pass off the net cord to bring it back to deuce.

  86. - - Federer's much-maligned forehand hits top gear early on and brings about a break point, but that inconsistency shows its head again as the break point chance goes long!
