  1. 6-3 - There's the match for Nadal. He only needed the one match point as he finds another forehand winner to set up the final clash with world number three Novak Djokovic

  2. 40-0 - Gonzalez hits a forehand long and Nadal has THREE MATCH POINTS ...

  3. 5-3 - Gonzalez does well to hold to 15 and force Nadal to do the honourable thing and serve out the match

  4. 5-2 - Nadal is just one game away from the final now as he holds once again, when Gonzalez hits wide. The Chilean will serve to stay in it after the change of ends

  5. 4-2 - Gonzalez holds again to keep himself just alive in this match but Nadal has positively raced through his previous couple of service games and the Chilean will need to produce something against serve if he is to change the result of this match

  6. 4-1 - Nadal posts another easy service hold to leave himself just two games away from another final, and a re-match with Novak Djokovic, whom he beat in the Monte Carlo Masters final two weeks ago

  7. 3-1 - Nadal is simply all over Gonzalez now whipping a forehand passing shot down the line at full stretch to set up a chance at a second break ... but Gonzalez levels at deuce with a forehand winner of his own - this one an inside out cross court winner - before he goes on to hold with a forehand drop shot

  8. 3-0 - It is all Nadal now as he fires down his first ace of the day to hold to love and cement the break

  9. 2-0 - Gonzalez saves a break point firing a forehand down the line for Nadal to chase before putting a forehand volley in exactly the same place, behind the quickly departing Nadal! But THE SPANIARD BREAKS at the second opportunity when Gonzalez sends an inside out cross court forehand wide

  10. 1-0 - Nadal finds himself in a spot of bother on his serve once again at 0-30 down but Gonzalez dumps two attempted drop shots, one off the forehand and the other off the backhand side, to allow the Spaniard level back at 30-30 before he goes on to hold with an emphatic smash right down the centre of the court

  11. 6-3 - Nadal quickly earns himself two set points with another forehand winner ... Gonzalez saves the first by pouncing on a short ball and firing away a forehand winner across court. But he can do nothing about the second, hitting an off-balance backhand into the net and NADAL HAS THE FIRST SET!

  12. 5-3 - Another battling service game for Nadal but this time he holds to cement the break, going back behind the scampering Gonzalez with a forehand smash down the line. Gonzalez now will have to serve to stay in this opening set

  13. 4-3 - Not great from the Chilean as now he hits consecutive errors to concede his serve. It's not even like he can claim to have been worn out by his effort in the previous game as he only had to hit one winner!

  14. 3-3 - Consecutive errors from Nadal on the forehand followed by a backhand into the net and Gonzalez has three chances to break back ... THE CHILEAN DOES BREAK BACK with a bullet of a cross court, backhand return that flies away for the winner

  15. 3-2 - Nadal gets his first break point chance when Gonzalez runs around a backhand but misses his resulting forehand ... and THE SPANIARD DOES HAVE THE BREAK. Nadal races up to the net but doesn't have to play another shot as Gonzalez pushes his lob long of the baseline

  16. 2-2 - Nadal holds to love with a one-two punch, of a serve out wide followed by a forehand winner down the line back behind Gonzalez, on game point

  17. 1-2 - Gonzalez holds again to keep his nose in front. The Chilean's last meeting with Nadal was in the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year, when the world number one dismissed him 6-3 6-2 6-4

  18. 1-1 - Nadal also holds to 15 to get his account underway

  19. 0-1 - A solid first game from Gonzalez, who lands a forehand winner right on the line to hold to 15

  20. 0-0 - Right, then tennis fans. Gonzalez to get the clash underway ...

  21. 17:24 - Nadal and Gonzalez have face each other eight times before with three of those clashes coming on the clay. Of those three clay matches, Nadal has won ... three! And all in straight sets

  22. 17:21 - Hello and welcome to Eurosport Yahoo!s LIVE coverage from the second Rome Masters semi-final between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez

  1. I wonder how long can Nadal survive with such powerplay and aggresive tennis. His kind of play was rejuvenated after his dismal loss to Tsonga at the 2008 Aussie Open. Strange ! How could he become a player as precised as NOW within 3 months after the Tsonga match ? And strangely enough, the sudden rise of Nadal resulted in the sudden collapse ( maybe, demise )of Federer. There must be something peculiar in this phenomena. Uncle Toni must have got the right antidote for his charge. God knows what !!

  2. Without playing his best tennis Nadal has beaten Verdasco and Gonzalez and is in another final. This guy is a phenomenon! The first set against Söderling is by far the best set I've seen Rafa play all year. If he can produce that kind of display against Djokovic tomorrow he has another Master Series title in the bag.

Djoko and Federer playaed a dismal match; a comedy of errors most of the time. Djokovic must raise his game and Monaco showed us that he isn't as consistent and patient then Nadal. And he need to be that, and more! Vamos Rafa!
