  1. 6-0 - Safina seals her progress and complete a double-bagel 6-0 6-0 win against the British number one Keothavong. She will face fellow Russian Vitalia Diatchenko in the second round. Women's draw

  2. 5-0 - Safina is now just a game away from victory. Keothavong stays alive in a cracking rally at the end of this one, but it's Safina who controls it and finishes things with a crushing smash.

  3. 4-0 - Keothavong goes 40-0 ahead on her serve, but she wastes all three game points - serving two double-faults on the way. Safina then summons a lovely dropshot to draw her opponent into the net and passes her to seal the break.

  4. 3-0 - Keothavong decides attack is the best form of defence and comes to the net, but Safina passes her to go 3-0 ahead and move ever-closer to the inevitable.

  5. 2-0 - The writing is on the wall for Keothavong, as Safina comes into the net and finds the chalk with a lovely topspin backhand winner.

  6. 1-0 - Safina gets a love service game to start the second set. She benefits from a lucky net cord on the game-winning point, but Keothavong can hardly complain.

  7. 6-0 - Safina munches down an opening bagel and this match looks headed for an early conclusion. The world number one is looking on devastating form.

  8. 5-0 - So much power from Safina. Keothavong takes her to deuce, but she summons a mighty serve to get advantage and absolutely smites a backhand winner away to get to 5-0.

  9. 4-0 - Safina has a second break! The Russian has hit the ground running in the tournament, she's striking the ball with real conviction and Keothavong has no answer. The Brit does win the rally of the match, however, chasing down a dropshot and then crashing home a volley winner.

  10. 3-0 - Keothavong earns a break point, but Safina crashes a stunning backhand winner into the corner to save it. She then powers into a 3-0 lead. Is it too early to mention the dreaded B word...anyone fancy a bagel?

  11. 2-0 - Oh dear. Keothavong is attacked by Safina on her opening service game and she goes down to 30, sealing her fate with a sloppy forehand into the net.

  12. 1-0 - Safina serves the opening game and Keothavong goes ahead 30-0 after a good winner and a double-fault. But Safina fights back and plays a strong volley winner to take the game.

  2. Flirtimarni95 - show some respect. Anne was never going to beat her so to even be on the same court with her, in a Slam event is a success for her in itself. She has done so well in this last year, to even qualify is a great achievement.

Yes, Dinara did well but while she is No1 at the moment, 4 others could take that spot easily. It shows that there are no dominant forces in the womens game just now.

She has already reached a final here and lost. Can she go one step further this time? She will never have a better chance.......

  4. poor ana not a nice start to your maiden french but at least she now has the feel of playing the no1 player and what it takes to get to the top, i hope it wasnt too demoralising.

  8. That is well deserved for all the hype...Anne this, Anne that...every silly match is big news...headlines like "Keothavong soars into semmis" etc... Truth somehow finds a way to surface in sports and now it is time for poor Anne do be relevead - a less than average player unworthy of all the press. If you brits (talking about Eurosport not the UK in general) are so desperate for some performances in women tennis, better take a couple of Russians and give them citizenship
