  1. 6-0 - SAFINA IS THROUGH TO THE FOURTH ROUND IN IMPRESSIVE STYLE! The world number one wraps up the win finally (!) as Pavlyuchenkova hits a backhand into the net

  2. Ad-40 - Pavlyuchenkova is beginning to run out of steam now despite a worthy fightback in this game

  3. 40-40 - Once again though Pavlyuchenkova comes up with a forehand winner down the line to deny the world number one the win

  4. Ad-40 - But Pavlyuchenkova hits long off the backhand wing to hand Safina a third chance ...

  5. 40-40 - The second also goes astray for Safina as she hits a forehand just long

  6. 40-30 - The 17-year-old saves the first with the kind of hitting we were enjoying from her early in the first set - a huge serve followed by an equally hefty forehand winner

  7. 40-15 - Two match points for Safina as Pavlyuchenkova hits a backhand into the net ...

  8. 5-0 - Safina holds to love once again to leave her just one game away from another very comprehensive win. All she has to do is get the ball in the court and Pavlyuchenkova does the rest for her

  9. 4-0 - SAFINA BREAKS AGAIN! The world number one breaks to love for a double break cushion in this second set. Pavlyuchenkova couldn't find the court with a football right now and she hits four consecutive ground-strokes out

  10. 3-0 - Safina races through a love service game to cement the break when Pavlyuchenkova hits long. The teenage Russian lets out a huge yell of frustration and that pretty much sums it all up really!

  11. 2-0 - SAFINA BREAKS! She really has got the measure of her 17-year-old opponent now and is over-powering her with ground-strokes to a amazing length

  12. 1-0 - Safina posts a comfortable hold to open her second set account

  13. 6-2 - Pavlyuchenkova hits a forehand long to gift Safina a first set point ... and a forehand that lands just wide on the very next point leaves Safina with a one set lead

  14. 5-2 - Safina quickly races through another service game though to sling all the pressure back over the net at her opponent and leave Pavlyuchenkova serving to stay in the first set

  15. 4-2 - Pavyluchenkova stops the run of games against her with a ferocious cross court forehand that beats Safina for pace. Good work from the younger Russian as she had to recover from 15-30 down in that game

  16. 4-1 - Safina is on her way now as Pavlyuchenkova is struggling to stick with the hefty ground strokes the world number one is unleashing. Safina holds to cement the break

  17. 3-1 - SAFINA BREAKS! An absolutely epic game sees Pavlyuchenkova save three break points before Safina can seal the game with a great backhand volley

  18. 2-1 - Safina keeps her nose in front with a slightly easier service hold. One thing is already sure though - this is going to be Safina's toughest challenge yet, if only in terms of weight of shot from her opponent!

  19. 1-1 - Pavlyuchenkova also posts a battling hold from deuce to get her account off the mark

  20. 1-0 - A battling hold to open from Safina as she is forced to deuce

  21. 0-0 - Safina will get the match underway by serving first ...

  22. 13:26 - These two have never faced each other before and just in case there is something you don't know about Dinara Safina, check out her profile here!

  1. impressive performance by Dinara. Hope this is her slam.....congratulations to her.
She needs to send a clear message to her opponents. She hitting the ball cleanly and seems very focussed this time around.

  2. Well I hope so but it is too early. She still has to face Rezai then either Ivanovic or Azarenka, then might be Svazay, Li Na or Sharapova, and then the most difficult opponent, SERENA WILLIAMS!!. Still to early to conclude I think, but hopefully she can manage it since she deserves it

From Dony, on Fri 29 May 2:40PM
  3. Dinara gonna win French Open !
