Live Comments

  1. 6-1 - Groth does well to string out the match a little longer than perhaps was expected by saving a couple of match point but Jankovic gets it at her third attempt when the Australian hits a forehand into the net

  2. 5-1 - Groth gets one of the breaks back, all of a sudden stringing a few points together and coming up with a great forehand stop volley at one point!

  3. 5-0 - Jankovic will serve for the match after the change of ends. The crowd is right behind Groth now as they are hoping to see a little bit more of a match but unfortunately for them she cannot get back from 0-40 down and Jankovic breaks with a forehand

  4. 4-0 - Jankovic has a little more trouble on serve after having the trainer and doctor out during the change of ends. But she does hold to 30 to leave herself potentially just two games away from the fourth round

  5. 3-0 - Groth battles hard in an attempt to hold serve as Jankovic looks to be having some trouble with her ribs or maybe lower back. But it can't be a huge problem as eventually she breaks when Groth hits into the net and this is comprehensive, very comprehensive

  6. 2-0 - A quick an easy love service game from Jankovic cements the break and Groth will be lucky to get a game in this set at this rate

  7. 1-0 - Jankovic begins the first set where she left off in the second - battering Groth into submission with heavy ground-strokes. And it continues to work wonders as she grabs an early break

  8. 6-1 - That's a very comfortable first set for Jankovic and she seals it when Groth hits long. The Serbian fifth seed simply has too much power for Groth

  9. 5-1 - Jankovic rips through another service game of Groth's, securing the double break from deuce when the Australian hits into the net. Jankovic will serve for the first set at the change of ends

  10. 4-1 - Jankovic holds to cement the break and she is will on her way here. The omens don't look good for Groth as Jankovic looks firmly set in her rhythm now

  11. 3-1 - Here is Groth by the way on the issue of her nationality - "The Grand Slams go by their own rules. But because the WTA have different rules you have to provide a passport. They don't allow me to change to Australia until I show them that I have a passport, even if I'm a resident and they know me well enough to know. I think I've been kind of Australian since I moved there when I was 15. I'm going to become an Australian citizen this year or next year. I'm going to get the passport sooner or later no matter what as I actually married an Australian."

  12. 3-1 - After a promising opening game it is all getting away from Groth rather quickly as Jankovic breaks with a backhand winner to take a comfortable lead

  13. 2-1 - If you are wondering, by the way, why Groth appears to be playing under the Slovakian flag on our website when she is actually playing under the Australian flag, that is because with the WTA she is registered as being Slovakian. Groth, however, has lived Down Under since she was 15 and has married an Australian which means she is on her way to getting Australian citizenship but is yet to produce her passport to the WTA. Jankovic holds by the way!

  14. 1-1 - But the poor start on serve by Jankovic is matched by Groth who drops serve to 15 by hitting a forehand into the net

  15. 0-1 - Not a very good start for Jankovic as she quickly slips to a 15-40 deficit. She manages to save the first two break points but Groth sets up a third and this time does get the break when Jankovic hits an attempted forehand down the line just wide

  16. 0-0 - Jankovic won the toss and chose to serve first and get the clash underway ...

  18. 14:03 - We've already had one upset involving an Australian today, can we have another? The stats would suggest not as Jankovic leaves the head-to-heads 3-0 and has never dropped a set

  19. 13:57 - Hello and welcome to this third round clash between Russian fifth seed Jelena Jankovic and Jarmila Groth of Australia
