12:26 - So there you have it, thanks for joining us for this clash. Stosur is through to the fourth round where she will face the winner of the next match on the Philippe Chatrier Court between Italy's Tathiana Garbin and Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano
1-6 -
And this time STOSUR WRAPS UP THE WIN! It's almost a carbon copy of the point before as the Australian whips a forehand across court that Dementieva can get nothing on in reply and the fourth seed is out of the tournament
40-Ad - Stosur slaps a forehand return of serve just long and the chance disappears. But she quickly gets another chance with the one-two punch of a forehand return of serve down the line and then a vicious forehand across court ...
40-Ad - Dementieva has ample oppotunities to close out another service hold but fails to take any of them and a forehand long hand Stosur here first match point ...
1-5 - Stosur holds once again despite having to recover twice from 0-15 and 15-30 down and the Australian now is just the one game away from the fourth round of the French Open
1-4 - Not a bad time to serve only your second ace of the match! But that is exactly what Dementieva does as she holds to at least get on the scoreboard in this third set. A long way to go though is she is to reach the fourth round
0-4 - A little bit of confusion between the players as Dementieva's hat flies off during a point and umpire Alves orders the point to be replied. But the upshot is that it's a first serve again to Stosur and she quickly breezes through another service hold, despite having dropped the first point, by winning the next four points
0-3 -
And Stosur has to do absolutely nothing to get the second break as Dementieva slaps down a double fault, her eighth of the match and already her third of the set
15-40 - The noise level is rising rapidly from Dementieva but it's not helping much just at the moment as she sends a cross court backhand out to hand Stosur another two break points ...
0-2 - Stosur holds to cement the break and she seems to have put the disappointment of dropping the second set well and truly behind her. The Australian holds to 15 with a series of huge serves as Dementieva struggles to find the court again. This is more like the Dementieva of the first set at than that of the second
0-1 -
Here we go again! Dementieva takes an extended break at the end of the second set to change her dress and it doesn't seem to have done her much good as she comes back and promptly drops serve. She really should have done better in that game and allowed Stosur multiple chances to get back into one point looking surprised when the Australian then produced a backhand passing shot for the winner
6-4 -
And this time DEMENTIEVA DOES GET THE SET! when Stosur hits a forehand long. The Australian slaps the ball away in disgust but it won't change things. This match is headed for a third and final set
Ad-40 - The chance goes begging for the Russian as she hits a forehand just long, but she will have a second chance to level up the match as she lands another ferocious forehand right on the baseline ...
Ad-40 - Dementieva battles back from 40-15 down on Stosur's serve before landing a forehand smack on the baseline. Stosur has umpire Mariana Alves down to check the mark but she confirms the call and Dementieva has a set point ...
5-4 - And the Russian does just hold on as Stosur fails to clear the net with a backhand drop shot. The Australian will need to serve to stay in the set after the chance of ends
Ad-40 - But Stosur's forehand return of serve goes long and a mis-hit on the following point hands Dementieva the chance to hold ...
40-Ad - Dementieva saves it with a forehand winner but Stosur sets up a second chance at the break with some amazing defensive work that concludes with a forehand passing shot across court at full stretch off the floor!
30-40 - A battling rally from both players ends with Stosur threading a backhand passing shot straight down the line to set up a break point ...
4-4 - Once again Stosur has to recover from dropping the first point on her serve but does manage to hold and stick with Dementieva as we reach the business end of this second set
4-3 - Dementieva holds once again to 15 to keep herself just in front in this set
3-3 - Stosur also manages to post a service hold but it is really hard work as the Australian has to save a break point and come up with a cracking forehand passing shot. Stosur is giving herself a real talking to at the end of the game as she waits for the balls to make their way down to the other end of the court
3-2 - Woohoo! We have our first service hold of the set! And bizarrely it goes to Dementieva as she holds to 30 to get herself in front for the first time in this second set
2-2 -
A fourth consecutive break of serve to open this second set. A series of poor serves from Stosur leaves Dementieva with three break back points and, although the first goes astray when the Russian fails to clear the net with a drop shot, she gets the break back at the second attempt with Stosur mis-hits a forehand return of serve
1-2 -
The chance goes begging again for Stosur but Dementieva losses the plot entirely shortly after slapping down another double fault and gifting Stosur the break
40-Ad - Dementieva manages to save the chance working her way into the net before producing a forehand volley winner, helping a little by Stosur slipping on the baseline. But once again Stosur gets an opportunity on for the break as Dementieva pushes an inside out forehand wide ...
40-Ad - This set is just being dominated very errors so far as a Dementieva passing shot drops long gifting Stosur the chance to break again. But a forehand error from the Australian on the next point (with the ball going so high into the air it takes a good 30 seconds after Dementieva hit it for the out call to come) leaves things tied at deuce again. Dementieva hits a forehand into the top of the tape a couple of points later though and Stosur will have a second chance to break ...
1-1 -
Ouch! Stosur appears to have gone off the boil a little as well and Dementieva breaks straight back as the Australian slaps down a double fault. She didn't get a first serve in in that game, compared with an 82 per cent first serve success rate in the first set
0-1 -
Dementieva really is in trouble now as Stosur breaks to 15 in the opening game of the second set. It's the Australian's forehand that seems to be doing all the damage as she continues to find acres of space with it
3-6 -
And this time STOSUR HAS THE SET! Dementieva can do little with another big first serve from the Australian and Stosur quickly races up to the short ball to fire it away down the lnie for a forehand winner
40-Ad - But once again Dementieva cannot capitalise and sends her backhand return of serve long and an ace from Stosur out wide hands the Australian a second set point ...
Ad-40 - Stosur works herself into a great position at the net and really should have done better than dumping a backhand volley into the net. She is a doubles Grand Slam winner after all! Dementieva then sets up another break back point moving up the court to benefit from a couple of shorter balls from the Australian ...
40-Ad - But both go astray as Stosur comes up with two huge first serves and Dementieva hits long and into the net respectively. Stosur then produces another blistering forehand winner and it is set point ...
40-15 - Dementieva gets lucky on the first point of the game with the ball hitting the top of the tape and just dribbling over, before Stosur dumps an overhead into the bottom of the net. A forehand just wide from Stosur a couple of points later and Dementieva has two break back points ...
3-5 -
And this time she does get the break, running round a backhand return of serve to smack another forehand winner straight down the line. The Australian will serve for the first set!
40-Ad - Once again Stosur squanders the chance with her forehand return of serve drifting long but a one-two punch of a cross court forehand return which pushes Dementieva very wide indeed followed up by an inside out forehand to the other side of court hands Stosur a third chance ...
40-Ad - The chance goes begging very quickly as Stosur hits a forehand just long, although she will get another chance as Dementieva also fails to find the court on a forehand ...
30-40 - Stosur comes up with a blistering backhand winner down the line before firing a forehand return of serve winner, also down the line and the Australian has a break point ...
3-4 - A love service game, our first of the match, from Stosur as this set reaches crunch point
3-3 - Dementieva levels up with another servce hold to 15. The serve now is beginning to dominate this match, providing it goes in of course! Although the Russian manages to avoid a double fault in this game, for the first time in the match
2-3 - Dementieva is just struggling to find her range on the return so far today and batters another forehand long to allow Stosur to hold to 15 and keep her nose in front
2-2 - Dementieva also posts her first service hold of the match, although another two double faults make it slightly more nervy than it should have been. I guess that's just the way it goes with the Russian, she's probably used to it by now!
1-2 - A much better service game from the Australian as she posts her first hold of the match to 15 when Dementieva hits long on a forehand return
1-1 -
Consecutive double faults is not a great way to start serving in a match but it is exactly what Dementieva does and allows Stosur to go on and break back to 15, the Australian stepping inside the baseline to a shorter ball from her opponent and firing off an inside out cross court forehand for the winner
1-0 -
It's a tough opening service game for both players. Stosur takes a couple of points to get into the match and quickly finds herself 0-40 down. The Australian does manage to battle back and even holds game points but is eventually broken when Dementieva agressively works her way into the net and Stosur's forehand passing shot goes wide
0-0 -
Stosur won the toss and has opted to serve first so it'll be the Australian to get us underway ...
10:15 - Stosur on the other hand has looked pretty solid, already posting a great win over Italian Francesca Schiavone. Check out Stosur's profile here
10:12 - But Dementieva was really struggling in the previous round against another Aussie, Jelena Dokic, and hasn't looked all that comfortable in Paris so far this year. Elena Dementieva profile
10:11 -
These two have met each other four times before with Dementieva leading the head-to-heads 3-1, including their most recent clash at the Australian Open. In fact the stats are not great for Stosur as the only meeting she has won was a walk-over back in 2005.
10:09 -
It's an absolutely perfect tennis-playing day today in Paris with not a cloud in the sky and temperatures currently around about the 18 degrees mark

troubling times elena but you are a class act show people you are.
Quite obvious - she would have lost to Dokic in previous round if she had not been injured. Lena is not in form. Congrats to Stosur.
Come on Elena!
the goofy russki kid is back as well (not like his people at all).......................i am outa here!
Elena, you got the 2nd set Come on you can win it
jt920130 you are back? Who let the dogs loose? Please go back to your Home, the doctors are only trying to help, really.
Indeed so Renan, 16 goals and a waste of 30 others. Come on, a striker that turns up at Old Trafford for the semi-final of the Champions League and killed off ALL our passing game with stupid little flicks and no comprehension whatsoever that the game was about scoring goals. I will need some persuading that he could ever be any good to any team if he does that at big games.
GO..GOO.. GOO ELENA. DON'T BE LEFT BEHIND... BE CALM AND FOCUS ON YOUR GAME.. YOU CAN WIN.. WIN...
Sharapova-nak would not be needed now here to be, he was lucky only because Dulko gave it up!!!! Do not expect a lot of him!!!

Catherine you don't mean the Aussies are back?? Where, when? This used to be a subject dear to my heart. Do tell us what is in the pipeline, Sam, a returning Serb, a soon to be naturalized Slovak (hope she gets the passport) and my good old warrior friend Lleytton. Did I miss anyone???
Sharapova-nak would not be needed now here to be, he was lucky only because Dulko gave it up!!!! Do not expect a lot of him!!!
go,go!!!
go stosur
@ sanchez : even he's lazy as hell but he's still the part of our squad ! 16 goals this season without Rosicky, Hleb, Flamini, Eduardo, Cesc (out for 4 months), Walcott (out for total 4 months), and the others i think it's a pretty good achievement for him !
No huddini episode here. Its going to be a striaght forward Stosur victory. I think Elena has run into one Australian too many in a row
My friend Renan is back - please please get rid of that picture! He will be in the directors box today watching his new team Chelsea and you are still showing him in OUR shirt.
I like these two players very much so I'll stay neutral because Lena is just not playing well enough to have a chance at the title itself, so maybe it is better for Sam to win and continue to improve her ranking?
come on Elena!!!!!!!Please!!!!you are better!!!!
Come on Elena you can come back
