  1. - - Well that was very easy for Safina, she cruised through that match and looked like she could have gone to another gear or two. She only needed 53 minutes, taking it with a breadstick and a bagel. She will face Victoria Azarenka or Ana Ivanovic in the next round.

  2. 6-0 - Rezai takes the first point, but that is all. Safina seals it when Rezai lazily puts the ball straight out from a Safina second serve.

  3. 5-0 - Rezai hits the ball wide to hand it to Safina. The Russian now serving for the match.

  5. 4-0 - Rezai is furious with her form, or just furious that she is playing the best player in the world. She hits some balls long, but can do nothing with Safina's serve, she could not get near it.

  6. 3-0 - Safina gets two break point opportunities, she loses the first with a ball she puts long, then Rezai saves the next with a forehand winner which she judged perfectly. She took her third opportunity though when Rezai slams the ball into the net. SAFINA NOW UP TWO BREAK POINTS.

  7. 2-0 - Safina cements her break with a forehand.

  8. 1-0 - Safina breaks straight away.

  9. 6-1 - Safina holds her serve and that seals the first set for her. Rezai hits a forehand into the net to confirm it.

  10. 5-1 - Rezai has to wait for a gentleman to find his seat, back and forth he goes looking for it, eventually deciding to take one of the vacant VIP boxes at courtside. On the court Rezai saves one break point, but not the second as Safina moves the Frenchwoman left, then right, before pouncing, and hitting a forehand winner into the corner.

  11. 4-1 - Safina holds, Rezai hits the ball long to hand it to the Russian.

  12. 3-1 - Safina makes no mistakes when she is given two break points. She sets them up with a forehand return which Rezai could not even move for. Rezai then puts the next point wide to give Safina the break.

  13. 2-1 - Rezai finds herself with two break points. The first was saved by Safina with a big serve down the middle which was unreturnable, Safina then saved the second with a big forehand down the line. She took the next two points as well to eventually hold her serve

  14. 1-1 - Rezai also makes her hold.

  15. 1-0 - Safina begins with an easy hold of service.

  4. i agree what on earth is going on some of the best­ tennis in the whole year and we get some formula 2 or 3­ race and some super car too. i understand showing the­ giro but get a grip the car racing isnt even formula 1.­ unreal.

At this rate of improvement, dinara will be delighted­ to have serena in the final for some sweet revenge, In­ an ideal world that is, as I don't think serena is­ playing well enough to get to the final. but who knows,­ that bottom half of the draw is weak and all the­ dangers are in fact in dinara's top half of the­ draw. interesting conundrum.
