  1. - - Both players receive a standing ovation, the centre court crowd was treated to a brilliant match of tennis.

  2. 4-6 - GAME SET AND MATCH. Benneteau chases back a lob shot from Novak, as he reaches the back wall he slips and slams both of his knees into the wall. He cuts both of his legs and takes a medical time out. He gets up and saves the match point (the second of the game). Novak takes his third one though, he forces the Frenchman wide and forces him to go for the croos court winner, it falls wide and that gives it to Djokovic.

  3. 4-5 - Benneteau has cut both of knees.

  4. 4-5 - Novak is having no issues on his service games. He hits his forehand to the back corner to confirm his hold.

  5. 4-4 - Benneteau played a delicate drop shot at 15-30 to keep the Serbian away from break point. He tried to repeat the trick at deuce but could only set Novak up for winner. Djokovic could not convert, but did on his next chance....or at least he thought he had. Benneteau challenged the call and the point was over turned. The Frenchman took the remaining points to hang on...just.

  6. 3-4 - No such drama for Novak, he holds to love.

  7. 3-3 - Benneteau makes two mistakes, a double fault and a forehand long. He recovers though, and we remain on serve.

  8. 2-3 - Benneteau hits his return into the net and that is game for Novak.

  9. 2-2 - Benneteau will not be wanting to get into too many long rallies, but he won that won. After 21 shots, the ball ricocheted off of his racquet and up into the stands. The Serbian hopefully looks at his racquet, looking for a broken string. There was no excuse for him and this match is back on.

  10. 1-2 - Djokovic starts with a cute lob shot and finishes with a big forehand.

  11. 1-1 - A long punishing rally forces Benneteau to put the ball into the net. That gives Novak two break points. He puts the first wide and has the second taken away from him by a delicate drop shot from mid court. Djokovic needed to play a similar shot on the next point but could only put it into the net. Benneteau puts home the winner next up and he holds his serve.

  12. 0-1 - Novak hits a serve out wide which Benneteau flicks into the net. A good start to the fourth set for him.

  13. 2-6 - Benneteau beats Djokovic with a delicate drop shot at the net, but the Serb fights back to deuce. A drained-looking Benneateau hits the net to give Djokovic advantage, and the Frenchman then fires a forehand wide of court to go a frame down!

  14. 2-5 - Djokovic delivers two double faults in this game to hand Benneteau as many break points! The Serb serves up another double fault to hand Benneteau the game! Where did that come from?

  15. 1-5 - Benneteau shows he is still match-fit as he skulks up to the net to hit a great volleyed winner out of Djokovic's reach. He goes on to hold easily, but then djokovic has plenty of breathing space.

  16. -- - Bennneteau has not called out his trainer during this changeover.

  17. 0-5 - Djokovic delivers two aces en route to holding serve once more and move within a game of taking the lead for the first time in this match.

  18. 0-4 - The Frenchman plays on, but the fact that Djokovic breaks his serve for the second consecutive time indicates that perhaps he is not quite fully up to speed at the moment. Mind you, the serb can only beat what's in front of him.

  19. -- - Benneteau gets a big ovation as he comes back on to court at the end of the three minutes, seemingly not requiring further attention.

  20. 0-3 - Djokovic goes on to hold serve, but off much more pressing concern is the condition of Benneteau, who slipped awkwardly at the end of that point. Benneteau walks back to his seat, but he will take the three-minute time-out.

  21. -- - Djokovic's long forehand hits the wrong side of the baseline, and Benneteau has two chances to break right back! Djokovic remains resolute at the baseline to save one, and Benneteau can only return into the net for the other.

  22. 0-2 - Djokovic earns another break point, and this time Benneteau hits the net for the break! Could the tide be slowly turning?

  23. -- - Djokovic slips over as he is caught off balance by a Benneteau winner. The players have been slipping around all day on Centre Court. He recovers well to earn his first break point of the match, but he is robbed of it by a fortunate clip off the net from Benneteau.

  24. 0-1 - Benneteau brings up a break point by proving himself more than equal to a stunning drop shot by Djokovic before lobbing and then smashing past the Serb. But the world number four didn't get where he is today without being able to get himself out of a tight spot and some awesome serving, including an ace on game point, and he holds to open this third set

  25. 1-7 - Djokovic fires a return right back past Benneteau to level the match at 1-1!

  26. 1-6 - Once more Benneteau hits the net, with a misjudged slice this time. All his good work throughout the set is evaporating in front of him. A wayward return completes the mini-hold for Djokovic, and the Serb now has FIVE set points!

  27. 1-4 - Benneteau ends a rally by hitting the net, and then again on his second service point to go 4-1 down.

  28. 1-2 - Djokovic holds his first point, but finds the net on the second to keep Benneteau in touch.

  29. 0-1 - Benneteau opens serving in the tie-break, and Djokovic positions himself perfectly to drive a forehand winner past the Frenchman, getting a valuable mini-break in the process.

  30. 6-6 - Benneteau fires another devastating two-handed backhand right across the face of Djokovic! The Serb is in danger of getting left behind as the Frenchman steps up a gear. Djokovic responds with a handful of aces, but how will he handle the breaker?

  31. 6-5 - More unplayable serving from Benneteau, and he rounds off an excellent love game with a sublime slice that Djokovic doesn't even bother going for!

  32. 5-5 - At 30-0, Djokovic slices into the net with an approach shot, giving Benneteau just a glimmer of hope. The Frenchman gets a little over-zealous, hitting a forehand long from the baseline. Djokovic dispatches a two-hander down the line to re-affirm what a wasted chance that was for Benneteau.

  33. 5-4 - Some great pitter-patter play at the net as Djokovic's cross-court drop shot is knocked back over by Benneteau to end the rally. Djokovic then returns into the net for yet another love service game.

  34. 4-4 - Djokovic is still hitting those big serves in, but they won't be much help on Benneteau's serve as the second set nears the business end.

  35. 4-3 - A nice two-hander down the line has the beating of Djokovic and helps Benneteau up to 40-0. Djokovic goes on the attack, but a well-disguised two-hander sees Benneteau hold to 30.

  36. 3-3 - Djokovic races up to a 40-0 lead, but Benneteau keeps it interesting for a while before he hits the net.

  37. 3-2 - A couple of solid Benneteau serves get the better of Djokoivc, the last one returned into the net for the Frenchman to hold.

  38. 2-2 - Djokovic holds his serve once more. Neither player has really threatened their opponent's serve in a full game yet.

  39. 2-1 - Benneteau responds with a love game of his own. The man who is not even in the top 10 players in France is looking good against the man with a grand slam under his belt.

  40. 1-1 - Djokovic will hope that his second love service game of the match can give him a much-needed boost.

  41. 1-0 - Benneteau drills a superb two-handed winner to open the second set with a hold of serve - which doesn't always happen after winning a tie-break.

  42. -- - In case you didn't know - Ivan Ljubicic is the latest player forced to withdraw through injury from the men's draw.

  43. 10-8 - Benneteau wrongfoots Djokovic with a delightful sliced drop shot that sees him take the opening set off the world number four! A thrilling breaker that the Frnechman deserved to win.

  44. 9-8 - Another baseline rally ends with Benneteau hooking a forehand way off. Djokovic fires JUST wide to give Benneteau a set point on his own serve!

  45. 8-7 - A good Benneteau serve can only be returned into the net. A carbon copy of that point sees the Frenchman earn a set point.

  46. 6-7 - Benneteau challenges a set-saving ace from Djokovic, but it's well in. Djokovic takes control of the next rally, and Benneteau hits the net following a canny slice from the Serb.

  47. 6-5 - Benneateau sees one smash at the net returned to him, but the second is way out of reach for Djokovic. The Serb then overhits a shot in the rally to give Benneateau a set point.

  48. 4-5 - Benneteau hits the net again, and barks in frustration. Once again, he returns into th net, and Djokovic goes ahead.

  49. 4-3 - Another great rally is won by Benneteau. The crowd are really getting behind him now, but he fires into the net to keep Djokovic in touch.

  50. 3-2 - A baseline rally ends with Djokovic hitting into the net before Benneteau returns long.

  51. 1-2 - Benneteau stumble en route to the net and Djokovic hits the winner with him still on the floor! The Serb hits the other Benneteau serve into the net.

  52. 1-0 - Djokovic loses his first service point.

  53. 6-6 - Benneteau is on the verge of taking this set to a tie-break, but Djokovic wrongfoots him superbly at the net to send a forehand past him, and a long forehand from the Frnechman sees this game go to deuce. Bennetea serves up an ace - Djokovic challenges incorrectly, and then hits the net, so we have a tie-break!

  54. 5-6 - After Benneteau goes 0-15 up, the umpire calls a Djokovic shot out following a long baseline slugfest. The Serb looks to his coach in the stands, and decides not to challenge. A drilled forehand helps Djokovic back up to 30-30, and an ace and another overhit return seal the game for him.

  55. 5-5 - No messing around from Benneteau, who holds to love against the world number four.

  56. 4-5 - Great two-handed pass from the baseline by Benneteau. He tries a repeat of it but this time finds the net. Another ace sends Djokovic on the way to holding.

  57. 4-4 - Benneteau opens with an ace, followed by a Djokovic return into the net. The former Aussie Open champion makes amends with a cracking forehand right into the corner, but another Benneteau ace and a backhand at the net are enough to keep this set on serve.

  58. 3-4 - More fearsome serving from Djokovic, and he holds after a block volley at the net bounces on the spot before Benneteau can reach it.

  59. 3-3 - Quite a few unforced errors have already crept into Djokovic's game. His string of aces are hiding it on his own serve, but he is yet to really challenge Benneteau on his, the Frenchman holding to 30 in this game.

  60. 2-3 - Djokovic has made an uncertain start, but he rather impresisvely delivers an ace on his second serve. He sends Benneteau scampering all the way to the back court with a lob that the Frenchman cannot return. Another ace and a ruthless forehand on the turn see Djokovic hold to love.

  61. 2-2 - The first eye-catching point of the match sees Djokovic scurry across court and back again, but all in vain as Benneteau has a simple tap over the net for 40-30.Djokovic pulls the game back to deuce, but cannot stop Benneteau from holding.

  62. 1-2 - Djokovic hammers his second ace of the match already, right down the centre line. He is at full stretch to try an outrageous one-handed backhand, which is flicked into the crowd! Benneteau makes him pay doubly for that by firing a forehand past him on the next point, but Novak responds with two mote aces to hold.

  63. 1-1 - Djokovic pushes Benneteau to 30 on his serve, but the Frenchman eventually holds.

  64. 0-1 - Djokovic wins his openign service game to 30, correctly challenging a call along the way.

  65. -- - Get up to speed with who is already through to the next round and who now has two free weeks in South-West London to kill here: Day One: Men's report
