- - Through goes Cilic, he will meet Tommy Haas in the next round.
4-6 -
STOP THE PRESSES! Querrey drops points on his serve....but more importantly, CILIC IS THROUGH! Querrey double faults to bring up two match points for thr Croat. Cilic came into the net forcing Querrey to go for the lobbed winner, but he could only put it long.
4-5 - Querrey gets himself back into the game at 15-30 but Cilic responds brilliantly with an ace.
4-4 - Querrey STILL hasn't dropped a service point. How did he seal it? With an ace of course.
3-4 - Now it is Cilic not dropping a point. Some very well thought out points from him there, he showed some good athleticism at the net to continue to reach for the ball while Querrey tried to slam the ball past him.
3-3 - Querrey still hasn't dropped a point on his serve in this set. We are entering the business end of the set...and the match.
2-3 - Cilic is also having no problems with his serve.
2-2 - Querrey's serve is becoming a bigger weapon as the match goes along, even the line judges cannot keep up, they called a ball wide which Querrey challenged and over turned. He sent down an ace on the replayed point and took it to love.
1-2 - Cilic has a game point but Querrey plays a stunning cross court forehand winner. That would be all from him though, Cilic holding it out with an ace.
1-1 - Querrey also looks good, he holds to love.
0-1 - Cilic shows no hangover from the previous set and holds well. Both players look in supreme condition, this could go on a while...
7-6 -
WE ARE GOING TO A FIFTH SET! Cilic puts the shot wide, much to the crowd and Querrey's delight.
3-3 - As they change ends it is even stevens. The crowd want a fifth set, it is going to be so close.
6-6 - A Cilic serve looks to have brought up a puff of chalk, he didn't challenge and perhaps that was still on his mind when he double faulted. He does challenge two points later, wrongly, and that is the end of his challenges for this set. Querrey works a break point and gambles on the serve but slams the forehand winner into the court. Cilic does not look back from there. He puts down an ace and then forces the American to put his shot long. WE ARE GOING TO A TIE-BREAK.
6-5 - 130 mph, down the middle, Querrey slams down the ace and Querrey holds again.
5-5 - Querrey comes into the net for the winner, but the ball never arrives at him as Cilic plays a passing shot right past him.
5-4 - Some good, quick rallies from the players there. The long, drawn out play is ended with an ace from Querrey.
4-4 - Cilic holds to love. This is looking like it is going to be a tie-break in the fourth.
3-4 - Querrey is having no issues on his service, he holds to 15 on a game that Cilic could not get close to.
3-3 - Querrey carries the momentum over and earns the break but can only put the ball into the net. Cilic turns it around and holds, that was important for him.
3-2 - The adrenaline is pumping through Querrey's veins now. He hits two aces and holds to love in no time.
2-2 -
At last Querrey takes a break point! He blew two earlier in the game but made the next one count. The chased down a forehand to the far right corner and Cilic unable to get the ball back over the net.
1-2 - Querrey battles and keeps it to the single break of serve.
0-2 - Querrey looks to the sky at a blown opportunity. Cilic has a slight limp and began to play some very wild shots. The American saw this and tried to punish him and move him around the court. His forehand deserted him at the crucial times though and the Croat survives.
0-1 -
What a game from Cilic. He is in fantastic form now. He takes it to love.
3-6 -
The momentum begins to swing Cilic's way and he takes the third set! Querrey hooked the ball wildly wide and that sealed it for the Croat.
3-5 -
Querrey slams a backhand into the net and that gives Cilic the break. Can the Croat do what Querrey could not do at 5-3 in the second set?
3-4 - Cilic plays a very loose looking shot as he powers a ball wide and long, swinging at it like a baseball slugger. Despite this, he holds.
3-3 - Querrey breathes a sigh of relief and Cilic rolls his eyes. The Croat plays a big lob and it falls just long.
2-3 - Querrey clips the ball long and Cilic holds his serve.
2-2 - Querrey is on second serve, so what does he do? He throws down a 135 mph ace.
1-2 - Cilic holds his serve to love, he has lost just the one point on his serve in this third set. Cilic's game is on the rise and Querrey has to deal with that...and his falling game.
1-1 - Both players have held their serve to begin this third set.
6-7 -
Cilic plays a brilliant tie-break and takes it 7-3.
2-1 -
A nervy tight looking play from Querrey, he could have had a chance of making the mini-break, be put it into the net though and we remain on serve.
6-6 - Cilic holds and we are going to a tie-break.
6-5 - Querrey is not flustered by dropping that serve in the last service game and sends down a 141 mph ace to hold.
5-5 - Cilic then cements that break of service.
5-4 -
Cilic runs out to a 0-30 lead before Querrey fights back with two aces. Cilic does work the break point though and then gets a MASSIVE slice of luck. Playing out the longest rally of the match, Cilic slams the ball into the net chord and it just creeps over. The Croat needed that, he was blowing hard on that point and was willing the ball to go over. Back on serve.
5-3 - Cilic was made to sweat by Querrey but he holds on and keeps it to the single break. Now or never for Cilic.
5-2 - And the new balls fly down even quicker. Querrey cements his break by holding to love.
4-2 -
Querrey gets what he deserves and he will be serving with new balls. Cilic can only knock the ball to mid court and Querrey can easily make the passing shot past him to take the break.
3-2 - Bish, bash, bosh. Querrey holds to love and seals it with an ace down the middle.
2-2 - Cilic holds. The biggest concern for him will be his plummeting 1st serve percentage. Now down to 51%.
2-1 - Cilic gets himself ahead 0-30 but does not have the confidence to put the pressure on to Querrey. The American recovers and fights back well.
1-1 - Querrey is annoyed with himself that he put a routine return into the net, that gives the hold to Cilic.
1-0 - Cilic is aggitated, he is pulling at his shirt and Querrey can sense it and is putting his foot down in this match.
6-4 -
Querrey strikes first blood! He steps up on Cilic's second serve and backhands it deep into the corner, Cilic returns to mid-court where Querrey can lay down another perfect shot, the Croat can only put that ball into the net. THAT GIVES THE FIRST SET TO THE AMERICAN.
5-4 - Querrey faces a break point but comes through it with an ace. He holds.
4-4 - Cilic has a very poor start with the new balls. He puts two forehands wide and then hits a double fault to face three break points. Luckily for the Croat, Querrey tightened a little and blew all his break opportunities. Querrey blows one more opportunity and Cilic holds onto his serve.
4-3 - Querrey with another massive serve down the middle and he again holds to love.
3-3 - Cilic holds with an ace down the middle. There will not be much serve and volleying here this afternoon.
