6-2 -
GAME. SET. AND MATCH. Venus Williams slams a return wide and then knocks the ball to the far right corner, just clipping the line. That breaks Bondarenko's serve and gives her victory.
5-2 - Venus then cements her break with a hold to love. She is just one game away from the third round now.
4-2 -
Bondarenko is cutting a forlorn figure out on the court. She double faults to give Venus a double fault and begins to have a debate with herself. The Ukranian then plays the best point of the match after the longest rally of the match, she pushed Williams back and then played a perfect drop shot. As great as that was, she played two very weak points next up and that gives Venus the break of serve.
3-2 - Bondarenko continues to struggle to survive with Venus' power, she needs to take advantage when facing a second serve. As Venus comes to the net, Bonarenko attempts to lob the ball over her from well behing the baseline and can only put it long.
2-2 - As brutal Venus is with her smashes and volleys, she has not been on her break point opportunities, she has only converted two of six and misses another one in that game. Credit to Bondarenko though, she is not holding back on her serves when facing break points.
2-1 - Venus again does not have any issues and Bondarenko yells out in frustration at not being able to deal with Williams' power.
1-1 - The umpire looks a little foolish for calling the ball out when neither the players or line judges though anything was wrong. Bondarenko challenges the call and is proven right. The point is replayed and instead of being 0-30 down, she gets it to 15-15. Bondarenko does not look back and holds her serve.
1-0 - 40-0 up, Venus figures she has nothing to lose on her second serve so fires a super quick delivery out wide which Bondarenko does well to get back over the net. That opens the court up to Venus and she puts away the volley with ease.
6-3 -
Facing a break point, Bondarenko puts her first serve into the net which allows Williams to jump on to the second serve. She powers a forehand return down the line and the Ukranian can only clip it into the net.
5-3 - Bondarenko slams a forehand return into the net and Venus holds and is just one game away from taking this first set. The Ukranian needs to put the ball back in play more consistently, she is not making Venus do too much work.
4-3 - Bondarenko inexplicably clips the ball long to give Venus a break point. She does well to hit a forehand winner down the line to survive and then takes her advantage at the second time of asking.
4-2 - Bondarenko plays a perfect lob shot to the back of the court, but that was all she could get going in that game.
3-2 -
Venus earns herself two break points. The first is saved with a fantastic passing backhand shot across court by the Ukranian. She puts the next shot long though and that hand VENUS THE BREAK. With Michelle Larcher De Brito being knocked out yesterday, Venus could be a new challenger for the loudest screamer award, she is getting very loud.
2-2 - Venus has little problem with her service game and she holds to love.
1-2 -
Venus clips the ball long and Bondarenko holds her serve in another game that goes to deuce. If you thought Bondarenko had been knocked out of Wimbledon, you would be right. However, it was Kateryna's sister, Alona who was knocked. And she was beaten by our brilliant, Elena Baltacha, who is in action later today against Kirsten Flipkens.
1-1 - Venus makes some unforced errors as she tries to go for the winners, Bondarenko gets herself to deuce before Williams tidys up her service game with an ace down the middle.
0-1 - A brutal start from Venus, her swinging forehand volley was in action there and she worked her way to a break point. Bondarenko held her nerve though and holds her first service game.
- -
Bondarenko to get this match started.
- - The stands are filling up to see the defending champion in action. These two players have met just once before with Venus taking the victory in Stuttgart in 2008. Williams has her knee heavily strapped up, we will have to see if that makes any difference to her game today.

My sisters are too hot for this competition............
I Think Venus is great I hope she can win wimbledon again I just love to watch her play, I hope she can continue to play for many years to come.
When Venus has a game scheduled I'm scared to watch 'cause I don't want her to lose. Every now and then I peep in the internet the scores. When I know she is already winning that's the time I watch the game ! Weird no ? But I'll be praying for Venus to win this tournament ! byn uk

Great job Venus good, clean efficient match, now on to the next round!
Come on break her and her and get some rest Venus!
As good as both the Williams sisters are playing we may be in store for a Williams championship where one of them becomes the champ (Venus) and they become #1 and #2 in the world again. Their gifts are from God.
I can't wait for Venus to wrap this second set up.
I can't wait for Venus to wrap this second set up.
Come on Venus
Come on Venus! Lets close this out!
Let know who wins the 1st set
Why is Venus' knee heavily wrapped? Did she twist it or something during a doubles match with Serena?
venus will win by GOD's grace.
Good luck Vee and Kateryna, this should be a good match of tennis.
