  1. 7-5 - Hewitt has taken out the fifth seed Juan Martin Del Potro! No first serves in that game, and a double fault to boot but Del Potro hits long and Hewitt is clearly delighted to be in the third round where he will face either Philip Petzschner or 25th seed Dimitry Tursunov

  2. 6-5 - Hewitt breaks right back immediately when Del Potro hits a cross court forehand wide and the Australian will have a second chance to serve out this match

  3. 5-5 - Typical! Lleyton Hewitt has been so good on serve all day and yet when he steps up to serve out the match he absolutely shanks it! A mis-hit forehand lands well long of the baseline and Del Potro is right back in this set

  4. 5-4 - Del Potro does well to hold and force Hewitt to serve out the match. But the Australian has served so well today and hasn't been broken so he sould be pretty confident heading out

  5. 5-3 - Hewitt produces a phenomenal forehand passing shot which Del Potro dives at and, although he gets a racquet to it before he hits the ground, he fails to get the ball over the net though and Hewitt goes on to hold. Del Potro will have to serve to stay in it.

  6. 4-3 - Del Potro holds, to keep the pressure on Hewitt, with a great change of direction forehand played from right in his body and onto the baseline

  7. 4-2 - Just when Del Potro looks like he's getting himself back into the match mentally, the body language disintegrates completely and Hewitt holds once again with ease to leave himself just two games away from the win

  8. 3-2 - Another hold from Del Potro and a few signs of life from the Argentine as he jogs back to the chair after the hold

  9. 3-1 - Hewitt is simply cruising now as he holds again to remain firmly in control not only in this set but in the match in general as well

  10. 2-1 - Del Potro hangs in this third set, holding when Hewitt's forehand return drops long but again, unless the Argentine can come up with something special it doesn't look like Hewitt is going to squander this lead

  11. 2-0 - Hewitt holds with relative ease when Del Potro slaps a forehand into the net. Two sets and a break down and Del Potro looks down and out

  12. 1-0 - Ouch! Things really are not looking good now for Del Potro as Hewitt lobs him (remember he's six foot six!) to bring up three break point before the Argentine double faults to concede his serve

  13. 7-5 - Only Hewitt's second double of the day and what a bad time to serve it. Still the Australian recovers and wraps up the second set after a number of deuces much to the delight of the crowd!

  14. 6-5 - Hewitt breaks and will serve for the second set! Another huge yell of "come on" accompanies his forehand winner and the Aussie is firmly in control of this match now

  15. 5-5 - Surprise, surprise Hewitt holds to level up once again! Not much more to say about the Austalian's serve in this set really!

  16. 4-5 - This set looks increasingly like it's heading for a tiebreak as Del Potro holds once again. Hewitt will have to serve to stay in it but he hasn't dropped a point yet today behind his first serve

  17. 4-4 - Another incredible three aces from Hewitt eases him through another service hold as we reach crunch point in this second set. You'd have to say that if Del Potro goes two sets to love down, it will be very hard for him to get back in this clash

  18. 3-4 - An emphatic service hold from Del Potro including an ace and a smash that almost reaches the Royal Box on the rebound

  19. 3-3 - Hewitt is out-aceing Del Potro so far today as he slams down his 10th to hold and stick with the Argentine

  20. 2-3 - Del Potro holds once again to keep things on track in this second set. The Argentine seems to be cruising along fairly nicely but he's not really managed anything particularly special so far today and unless Hewitt runs out of steam then Del Potro is going to struggle

  21. 2-2 - Hewitt produces a great sliced backhand drop shot that just sneaks over despite hitting the top of the net. Del Potro races up to the ball, catches it after it's second bounce, jumps over the net and ends up next to Hewitt handing the ball to him. The Argentine is a big man and is not easy to stop once he gets going, but he shows a good sense of humour as he adjusts the net on the way back past to amuse the crowd. Hewitt holds though when Del Potro batters a forehand down the line long

  22. 1-2 - Ace number five from Del Potro to hold despite pressure from Hewitt, who was lurking at 40-30 down. The trainer is still hovering at the side of the court and looks like he'll come back on to have a further conflab with Del Potro at the change of ends

  23. 1-1 - Hewitt holds to love to get himself off the mark in this second set - the Australian really is playing well considering the quality of opponent he is up against today

  24. 0-1 - Del Potro has had his right knee taped just below the knee cap - it looks like a patella problem so it probably had nothing to do with the slip in the end. It didn't need a timeout and the way the Argentine comes out and emphatically holds to open the second set suggests it'snot going to trouble him too much today

  25. 6-3 - Hewitt holds to 15 with an ace to seal the first set and Del Potro has called for the trainer for treatment to his right knee at the change of ends. He did slip earlier in the set slightly on a return of serve and maybe he jarred his knee then

  26. 5-3 - Del Potro holds to 15 to force Hewitt to serve out the set but it's not all plain sailing as the Australian once again riffles a forehand return of serve across court for a winner. Del Potro had barely even finished his service rhythm

  27. 5-2 - Hewitt has to save another couple of break points but he does manage to do so, displaying his terrier like qualities to maximum effect as he chases down balls he has no right to get to before holding with a forehand winner. Del Potro will have to serve to stay in the set

  28. 4-2 - Holding serve in that previous game really seems to have woken Hewitt up to the fight as he riffles a couple of forehand return of serves over the net before breaking when Del Potro again hits wide. The Aussies in the crowd really are getting into this now as Hewitt unleashes another scream of "come on"

  29. 3-2 - Hewitt dumps a forehand into the middle of the net to leave Del Potro with a first break point of the match. The Argentine. Hewitt uses his speed around the court to save a number of break points before holding with a yell of "come on" when Del Potro sends a cross court forehand wide

  30. 2-2 - At six foot six, Del Potro hammers his serve down from a great height and he batters a 129mph second serve on his way to a second hold to keep things on serve

  31. 2-1 - Hewitt throws in some serve and volley at 40-0 up just to mix things up a little and change Del Potro's perspective on the return. It works a treat as Hewitt holds to love to stay in front

  32. 1-1 - Del Potro holds to get his side of the scoreboard ticking over - Hewitt actually took the first two points of the game before a couple of huge second serves from Del Potro got him out of trouble and the Argentine went on to hold when Hewitt sliced a backhand down the line wide

  33. 1-0 - Hewitt holds with a for the opening game of the match working his way into the net and putting away a forehand volley

  34. 0-0 - Righto, the players are ready to go and it will be Hewitt to serve first

  35. 12:47 - But Hewitt has been showing so good form on the grass this year, reaching the third round before losing to Andy Roddick in two tie-break sets. And grass is by no means Del Potro's natural surface, although he did an absolute demolition job on Arnaud Clement on the first round

  36. 12:46 - These two have never faced each other before so there is little to chose between them there. If you follow that rankings, it should be Del Potro's match as he is world number five and Hewitt is ranked down at 56

  37. 12:40 - This match was Eurosport Yahoo! blogger Simon Reed's pick of the day and has all the hallmarks of a classic Wimbledon encounter. You can read all about what Simon had to say about this match, plus his views on the current problems in the LTA, by clicking right here

  17. If Hewitt loses this match, and it's clearly possible now, it will be very very hard for him to recover. What an awful service game at 5/4.
