Live Comments

  1. 2-6 - There is the win for Berdych as he smacks a forehand winner down the line to reach the fourth round

  2. 2-5 - Berdych breaks again to 15 when Davydenko slaps a forehand long - the Czech will serve for the match

  3. 2-4 - Berdych is forced to save three break points in that game but he does so when Davydenko hits a series of horrific shots and the Czech player maintains his break lead

  4. 2-3 - Davydenko just stays alive in this match by saving two break points hitting into the body of Berdych and forcing the errors before going on to hold when the Czech hits a backhand long

  5. 1-3 - Berdych races through another service hold - he has dropped just the three points behind his first serve so far in this match. Amazingly!

  6. 1-2 - Better from the Russian as he holds to get off the mark in this set - but he has to come up with a great forehand drive volley right onto the sideline to win the game and even then Berdych got to it, he just couldn't get it up and over the net

  7. 0-2 - Berdych holds to cement the break and leave Davydenko at a loss as to what to try in this match

  8. 0-1 - Berdych breaks for the opening game of the third set - he raced through that game as he looks to press home his advantage

  9. 3-6 - Sure enough Berdych does serve out the set, albeit not as easily as he would have liked, and the Czech 20th seed has a two sets to love lead over Davydenko

  10. 3-5 - Davydenko holds to force Berdych to serve out the set but, apart from that blip in the fifth game of this set, the Czech has had little difficulty on serve

  11. 2-5 - Much better from Berdych as he holds to love to cement the break and leave Davydenko serving to stay in the second set

  12. 2-4 - Just when it's startign to look slightly better for Davydenko he throws in a shocking game, concluding in a poor forehand into the net, and Berdych breaks for a second time

  13. 2-3 - Berdych just a little more carefree in that game and Davydenko seized his opportunity by wrong-footting his opponent on the baseline and firing a backhand down the line past Berdych

  14. 1-3 - A stunning backhand cross court volley from Berdych and he breaks to really bury Davydenko. The Russian is the 12th seed for goodness sake's and Berdych is making him look very ordinary indeed

  15. 1-2 - Berdych really is playing very well today as he stays in control of the second set, working his way into the net before showing his impressive reach to get a forehand volley winner over the net

  16. 1-1 - Davydenko holds serve looking a little more positive - perhaps playing with the fear of losing evident in his every move.

  17. 0-1 - Berdych gets through the first game of the second set in the same dominating fashion. It's as if nobody has told him that Wimbledon's courts are slower than they used to be: he's thundering massive serves and charging the net in all-out 1990s style. Old school!

  18. 2-6 - Berdych breaks again! He is absolutely blasting the Russian out of it, with two more brilliant winners to go 0-30 in that last service game before he goes on to finish off a highly impressive first set.

  19. 2-5 - Berdych holds easily to take himself to within one game of grabbing the first set. The Czech looks in superlative form, with fabulous serving that Davydenko can't get near to.

  20. 2-4 - Berdych holds serve after the break, then Davydenko hangs on to steady the ship a little - but this first set is already slipping away from him.

  21. 1-3 - Berdych is off to a great start, and has already broken his opponent's serve. Considering that he's lost to the Russian in all of their eight previous encounters, it's the sort of start he wouldn't have dared dream about.

  22. - - Afternoon all - Tomas Berdych and Nikolai are out here on court and about to slug it out for the right to come back next week.
