  1. - - On the old court two, the former 'graveyard of champions', 17 year old Melanie Oudin has slayed Jelena Jankovic. Oudin came through three qualifiers to get to the main draw and her fantastic run continues.

  2. 6-2 - What a moment for the 17 year old. She slaps a backhand down the line for two match points. The first she slams long and then plays a fantastic clipped dropshot at a very acute angle, TO SEAL THE VICTORY.

  3. 5-2 - "COME ON!" bellows Oudin, her voice almost broke there. She sealed it with a powerful backhand down the line.

  4. 4-2 - Oudin has no issues holding as she edges toward victory.

  5. 3-2 - A vital hold for Jelena, she could not have afforded to have gone down two breaks.

  6. 3-1 - Oudin lobs the ball into the air in desperation and Jankovic has all the time to line up the smash. She smashes it long though, by a long, long way.

  7. 2-1 - Oudin's time for frustration, she knocks the ball into the net much to her dismay. She takes Jankovic to deuce again though and this extra effort will surely takes its toll on the Serbian.

  8. 2-0 - Neat work from Oudin and there were no signs of her tightening up like she did in the second after grabbing the break.

  9. 1-0 - Great grafting from Oudin. Jankovic had multiple opportunities at game point but Oudin continued battling to come through it. She put down another perfect drop shot to grab break point and then layed down another which Jankovic tried to lob, but could only put long.

  10. - - This time it is not for the illness, but an injury on her foot. It will be very interesting to see if she can get through this deciding set.

  11. - - Jankovic has again called for a medical consultation.

  12. 7-5 - Oudin roars her excitement and relief. She senses weakness in her opponent. The American double faulted to put herself in a 0-30 hole, but responded well and threw everything behind her backhand winner.

  13. 6-5 - "Come on!" screams Oudin. She could not take her first two break points, but was given another chance at deuce following a perfect drop shot. The American forced Jankovic wide and Jelena could not put it back over the net. She will now have to break again to force a tie-break. The Serbian is loading on ice inbetween games.

  14. 5-5 - A massive hold the 17 year old. She began poorly with a double fault and then a clipped ball wide. She recovered to take the remaining point though, including a delightful drop shot.

  15. 4-5 - Both players are angry. Jankovic at just about anything. Oudin at her play, the American has been consistently getting into the rallies and points, but clipping the balls long at the wrong times. Oudin serving to stay in the tournament.

  16. 4-4 - A big hold from Oudin. The momentum was inprobably with Jankovic there but Oudin got out of the game, sealing it with a cross court smash.

  17. 3-4 - Jankovic holds and she will be wanting to finish this second set as soon as possible.

  18. 3-3 - Oh Oudin, what are you doing? The American slams her forehand into the net and that gives the break back. Jankovic is not physically struggling too much, just the unforced errors are what are bothering her. Early in the game she looks at her coaches and screams her frustration at the poor play.

  19. 3-2 - Solid work from Oudin, she forces Jankovic to play the winner, but is another error by putting into the net. That means it is another break for Oudin. The American just needs to hang in here and the second set will be hers.

  20. 2-2 - More missed chances from Oudin. She clips the ball long and that gives the break of serve to Jelena.

  21. 2-1 - Oudin is playing with great width, pushing Jankovic all over the court and the Serbian is too sluggish to get there. That play gives her two break points, neither of which she can take and Jankovic takes the remaining points to hold break. Jelena is still alive in this set.

  22. 2-0 - Good work from Oudin, she is showing good focus and no sign of disappointment from dropping that first set.

  23. 1-0 - Jankovic took the first two points of the set, slowing the tempo between points. Oudin has re-grouped and does well to fight back.

  24. 0-0 - We are going to continue, Jankovic serving.

  25. - - The medical team have Jelena laid out on court, taking her blood pressure. We have been told that it is a stomach problem, her mother is looking on very concerned. The assesment has been made and she is now receiving her medical time out.

  26. - - Jelena Jankovic is having her pulse taken at court side. She looks in a lot of distress. She looks as white as a sheet and very sick indeed.

  27. 6-7 - This time Oudin's forehand was wasteful and put it low into the net. That gives Jankovic set point on her serve, AND SHE TAKES IT WHEN OUDIN'S BACKHAND FALLS INTO THE NET. Oudin will be kicking herself for not taking those chances.

  28. 8-8 - Jankovic lays the ball into mid-court and Oudin's forehand can wield its magic once more. The American then saw the space for a potential set winner but put it just wide. There was no real need for her to go that tight to the line. Oudin took the next point though with a volley to give her another set point on her serve....but again she put it into the net.

  29. 6-6 - Oudin nastily put a forehand wide from mid-court, that gave Jankovic the mini-break. And Jankovic could have taken a second, but clipped the ball long. Two points later we were back on serve when Jankovic put the ball into the net. Then Oudin completely mis hit her return, it fell just over the net and safe. She offered her apologies, but she was serving for the first set. The American could not take it though, knocking the ball into the net.

  30. 3-3 - As we change ends we remain on serve.

  31. 6-6 - Jankovic finally earns the tie-break. Oudin battled well to take two game points away from Jankovic, but the American made mistakes of her own when she could have earned a break point. We are going to a tie-break.

  32. 6-5 - Oudin is pumped up! She presented the opportunities to Jankovic, but with the Serbian in this form it does not matter, she continully put the ball into the net. As the players sit down, Jankovic was complaining about about the ball crew, she is very distracted out there.

  33. 5-5 - You have to stay that had been coming. Jankovic saved her first break point with an unreturnable serve out wide, but she put the next ball long. The Serbian argued the call, but it was clearly long. Just too many mistakes from her, 17 unforced errors in total.

  34. 4-5 - Jankovic slams a backhand long when she just needed to put the ball in play to take the point and the break. An uncharacteristic miss and she will have to serve for the set instead.

  35. 3-5 - Not even when she is playing at her best Jankovic should be too much for Oudin. She sealed the game with a great smash shot which beat Oudin like a Laseeth Malinga yorker.

  36. 3-4 - Experience shines through there from the Serbian, she has GOT THE BREAK.

  37. 3-3 - Jankovic looks a little tentative on court. Her ground strokes have not been quite hitting the spots as usual and she looked a little upset with the noise from the capacity crowd. Though she didn't look too nervous with the smash she layed down to hold the game.

  38. 3-2 - A double fault aside, that was a good service game from Oudin. She is mixing her game up well, playing with some nice angles and playing a variety of power and changeups.

  39. 2-2 - The American and the Serb continue to hold comfortbaly. Jankovic got out to a big lead before playing an unforced error into the net, no real panic though.

  40. - - It is the people's Saturday of Wimbledon, and the social event of the year for many, many people. The weather is gorgeous, the sun is beating down and it looks as though we will get a sixth day in a row with no rain. "Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid day sun..."

  41. 1-1 - The two ladies are on serve so, both easing their way into this match.

  42. 12:02 - Hello and welcome to this third round clash between Serbia's sixth seed Jelena Jankovic and American Melanie Oudin

  6. JJ was not feeling well from the beginning and the body language was never good. But to be comprehensively outplayed by a seventeen year old qualifier?? I hope it was just down to her physical condition as JJ is much better than that. Wow didn't Ana blossom earlier!

  7. Any player who needs some time to get over an injury should be given a couple of minutes to recover ( no trainer on court ) . If the player is unable to be ready to continue ON TIME he or she should forfeit the match . Enough of this " medical time- out " nonsense !!
