22:53 - So there you have it folks, Murray will next face Spanish wildcard Juan Carlos Ferrero, who downed French eighth seed Gilles Simon 7-6(4) 6-2 6-3
3-6 -
AND MURRAY IS THROUGH TO THE QUARTER-FINALS! The Scot curls up on the floor in celebration after a forehand down the line proves too much for Wawrinka.
15-30 - A cross court forehand wide hands Wawrinka the third point of the game but a backhand long from Wawrinka hands Murray a match point ...
0-30 - Murray takes the first point when Wawrinka hits a forehand into the net ... and the second with a ridiculous sliced backhand drop shot that the Swiss player cannot quite get up to ...
3-5 -
THIS TIME MURRAY GETS IT! A ferocious forehand down the line that beats Wawrinka for pace and Murray will serve for a place in the quarter-finals. That is, if the umpire can get the very excitable crowd to stay quiet for long enough!!!
40-Ad - Again Wawrinka saves the break point when Murray hits a forehand into the net after a lengthy rally but the sliced backhand comes to Murray's rescue and Wawrinka unleashes a bullet of a forehand straight into the net. A third break point to Murray ...
40-Ad - Murray races out to a 0-30 lead on the Warinka serve with a great top-sping forehand lob across court before Wawrinka recovers with a backhand passing shot down the line and an ace. But Murray is gifted the break point when Wawrinka, with the whole court to aim at, fires a cross court forehand well wide. Murray sends his return of serve long but he quickly gets another chance when Wawrinka hits long and this time he appeals to the crowd to get behind him - yelling come on at them
3-4 - Murray stops the run of games against him holding to 30. He was 40-0 up before Wawrinka came up with a couple of great points to make what should have been a comfortable game a little more nervy. But the Swiss player over-cooked a forhand approach shot and Murray held when the ball fell long
3-3 - We are back on serve as Wawrinka holds with an impressive, confident display of serving. An ace and a couple of service winners and Wawrinka has replied to Murray's three games at the beginning of the set with three of his own
2-3 -
WAWRINKA BREAKS BACK! This match has life left in it yet as Wawrinka breaks back with a stunning forehand passing shot after Murray just tightened up a little.
1-3 - Wawrinka gets his side of the scoreboard ticking over in this fifth set, holding to 15 with an ace down the T but Murray showed little sign of fatigue in that game as he came up with a stunning forehand passing shot which had the crowd in raptures!
0-3 - Murray is getting a standing ovation after consolidating the early break in is fifth set. Wawrinka plays in almost inch-perfect lob over Murray's head and into the corner. But the Scot is in such good condition that not only does he get back to it but he also produces a backhand winner passing shot to hold! The crowd are on their feet and Murray surely has the momentum now to go on to the win?!
- -
Just to confirm folks. Yes it is night but THIS MATCH WILL CONTINUE UNTIL ITS CONCLUSION. It's being played under the roof as the weather at the start was unpredictable and the benefit of that is the flood lights allowing the match to be played well into the light!
0-2 -
MURRAY BREAKS! Murray is such a good mover and he earns himself a break point by chasing everything down and eventually forcing the error from Wawrinka on a low backhand before the Swiss slaps a tired looking forehand into the net to hand the Scot the break
0-1 - Wawrinka sprints to the back of the court in a Nadal-esque manner in a bid to show Murray he has plenty left in the tank. But Murray holds to 30, when Wawrinka hits a backhand down the line just wide, to get the fifth set underway
7-5 -
Wawrinka gets to 40-30 - and then thunders an ace down the middle to take the set!
- - What a game this is - we've seen some stunning tennis from this pair, and at the moment it's looking like there's another set of it left to go...
6-5 -
BREAK TO WAWRINKA!!! Murray flops to give up the break point, then nets under almost no pressure and screams in anguish as he does so!
- - An amazing point! Murray breaks a string with his return of serve, but almost wins the point anyway - except he doesn't, and we're at deuce.
- - DOUBLE FAULT FROM MURRAY! But no - Murray challenges, and Hawkeye agrees with him... He wins the point and it's 30-30 instead of 15-40 - that could be absolutely crucial!
- - Murray has missed a couple of shots in this game already, and it's 15-30 to Wawrinka...
5-5 - An easier service game sees Wawrinka hold for the loss of a single point. His serves looked much sharper there, and now the pressure is back on the Scot.
4-5 - Yet another quite amazing rally, and Murray sees himself through the game. It was an incredible finish to the game: Murray ran to the net after dominating the point, finishing with an angled drop volley - only to see Wawrinka soar up the court and get to the ball. His effort went well wide, but it was superhuman even to get a racquet to it.
- - Break point saved ! That's 10 of 12 break points saved by Murray now, an unbelievable record on key points from the Scot.
- - This is getting too close to call: both players are looking really solid, yet both are giving up chances. Yet Murray has just conceded a break point by duffing a simple shot up the line...
- - Good news elsewhere for Andy Murray: Germany are beating England 4-0 in the U21 European Championship final...
4-4 - A big serve from the Swiss player, and Murray can only get the ball into the net to cede the game.
- - It's another quite unbelievable epic game, with Murray hitting some superb shots and earning a break point... but Wawrinka has saved it on the third deuce has his own Advantage point...
3-4 - The inevitable deuce comes - but Murray wins the game as the Swiss puts a volley into the net and the Scot finds a thundering forehand passing shot winner.
- - Murray fights back to 30-30 - but then slaps a forehand into the tape to hand Wawrinka a break point!
- - Its' 0-30 to the Swiss on Murray's serve.... Wawrinka has definitely found a bit of extra wind.
3-3 - Wawrinka's best service game for some time is won to love with some brilliant serving. He looks like he really needed the mental and physical break of a straightforward hold.
2-3 - Murray has slowed his serve a little and has seen his first serve percentage soar into the high 60s in this set - and he once again holds with consummate ease without losing a point.
2-2 - Wawrinka holds firm against a rampaging Murray, hanging on by forcing his opponent to work for everything.
1-2 - A love service game at the exact right moment for Murray: he's doing everything he can to make it difficult for his opponent, and if he keeps it up it's going to be staggeringly hard for Wawrinka to get himself back on track. Not that you'd put it past him: he's proven his quality this evening, and if his timing clicks back in you never know.
1-1 - Wawrinka pulls himself through that very tough service game after four deuces, eventually just getting a few good first serves in that leave Murray too much to do.
- - Another point sees moments of genius from both players, with Murray keeping his opponent running all over the court from the net before closing out with a soft-hands drop volley to bring it back to deuce.
- - One of those stunning, on-the-run cross-court winners pushes Wawrinka to deuce - but Murray then nets to cede Advantage.
0-1 - Very easy hold of serve for Murray to start this fourth set off, and Wawrinka is starting to look short of energy and ideas.
- - Murray might be in control of this match now - but he's been shaky, and his service in particular has just not been in often enough, even if he's won over 90% of his points when it has been in.
- - On the evidence of the last half of that set Wawrinka's spirit seems to have been broken. He's gone off for a toilet break, no doubt more to splash water on his face and punch the mirror than to have a wee.
3-6 -
MURRAY BREAKS AGAIN! The Super-Scot is starting to fly now, breaking the Swiss with ease to take that third set.
3-5 - Murray is hugely pumped up now, cheering and punching the air, getting the crowd onto their feet. He looked like he was going to roll out of the championship in that first set, but now looks like he could run away with the rest of this match.
3-4 -
THERE'S THE BREAK FOR MURRAY! Heartbreaking for the Swiss as he is in full control of the point: all he has to do is put away a simple volley from the middle of the net, but he snatches at it and carves it woefully out of the court.
- - Wawrinka goes for a tight angle forehand winner, but with his timing just off at the minute it finds the net. Three break points for Murray!
- - The Swiss racks up two more of those unforced errors and suddenly it's 0-30 on his serve... it'd be a terrible shame if he were to start to crumble at this stage, this match has had all the makings of a true classic with the way it's been played.
3-3 - Dismay for Wawrinka! He's in control of the point, but then once again goes long with a forehand. His unforced error count is starting to kill him here: he's had 30 to Murray's 18.
- - An overcooked Wawrinka forehand goes long, then Murray comes in on the next point and thunders a volley winner down the centre to take advantage...
- - Murray saves the break point - but then gives away another as he dashes in and volleys long.
- - Murray overdoes it with a forehand cross-court - and puts it in the net! Another break point!
- - Murray saves the break point and gets to advantage - but then Wawrinka plays a truly sublime angled volley at the net to get it back to deuce! Incredible tennis, he's got his touch back after a dodgy few minutes!
- - Murray starts looking a bit sloppy again in that game, and Wawrinka earns break point at 30-40...
3-2 - Crunching backhand return from Murray gives him 15-30 and a half-chance of a break - but then the Swiss pulls out three healthy serves which Murray can't contain.
2-2 - It's a tough-fought game, this, Wawrinka pushing Murray to deuce; but the Scot hits a big serve to go to Advantage, then Wawrinka floats a forehand just long to end the game.
- - The edge has come off the sparkling tennis we saw in the second set a bit: so far this game has seen an ace, a double fault and two poor unforced errors to get us to 30-30 with Murray serving.
2-1 - Wawrinka holds his nerve to finish off that game, and that'll be a real heartener for him.
- - Both game points saved; it's deuce, and suddenly Murray has forgiven that turf.
- - Murray slips a bit to concede a couple of game points, and immediately starts giving both barrels to the impudent turf around the baseline which refused to stick to his shoes sufficiently.
- - Incredible! A perfect Murray lob lands on the baseline, yet the plucky Swiss gets the ball back over the net even as he almost tumbles to the ground trying to run for it! 15-15.
1-1 - It's a love game for the Scot - his second love service game in a row - and he's now beginning to look properly comfortable at last.
1-0 - Murray gets to 15-30 on Wawrinka's serve and has a free swing at a forehand to earn break points - but he finds the net, and the Swiss picks his game up to dominate the rest of the game.
- - Remember, you can follow all the other matches on our amazing, multi-function, multi-faceted multiplex!
- - You can see the determination on Andy Murray's face now: he's roaring and clenching his fists after every half-decent point.
3-6 -
After the fireworks of the previous few games it's almost a disappointment when Murray blasts through a love game, finishing off with just his second ace of the match! What a cracker of a match this is becoming!
3-5 -
MURRAY GETS THE BREAK! The Scot finally has a way back in to this match as Wawrinka goes wide with a forehand under pressure. Forget partiality, though: both players are producing such incredible tennis this is just sheer joy to watch!
- - Advantage Murray as a phenomenal backhand slice spins so low and wide that Wawrinka has no chance of getting it back over the net.
- - Murray has another break point - and gets to three successive smashes from his opponent on opposing sides of the court before the Swiss finally saves it! Incredible stuff from both players now!
- - A half-chance for the Scot as he pushes his opponent to deuce - and then saves Advantage with the best point of the match so far, each player showing stunning shot combinations and angles before Murray finally gets the better of his man with a cross-court winner.
- - The stats tell you everything you need to know about the patterns of this match: Murray has got less than half of his first serves in, compared to around 60 per cent for his opponent. The Swiss has also fired 21 winners to Murray's 14.
- - An astonishing cross-court winner from Murray, reaching for a ball he had no right to get to and returning it dipping just over the net to give the Swiss no chance. Great shot, but the odd great shot won't be enough to win this match.
- - Just as we were thinking that, ironically enough, this is the sort of match that we could do with a rain delay to help Murray back in something else happens. Wawrinka calls his trainer on court for a bit of thigh rubbing. Hard to see if it's a bit of mind games or if he's struggling, but the way he's playing suggests the former.
3-4 - There's a comfortable hold for the Scot there, looking very solid.
3-3 - The promising start to the game evaporates under Wawrinka's skill and power as the 19th seed closes out another impressive service game, pumping a big serve down the middle. There's nothing Murray can do other than get racquet to ball and hope, and it's just not enough at the moment.
- - You've got to love the pantomime drama of a partisan crowd: a huge cheer erupts as Murray goes 0-15 up - you'd think he'd just earned a trio of break points!
- - A bit of relief there for Andy Murray. Elsewhere, Laura Robson is playing well - a set and a break up already. You can follow her and all the other matches on our multiplex.
2-3 - Murray gets out of jail free on the break points as a nervy late call from the line judge rules a Wawrinka passing shot out - and then the Swiss nets to give Murray advantage. And with his best shot of the match, Murray saves the game by whipping an incredible winner straight in front of the impressive Swiss player.
- - Wawrinka pulls out a pair of gorgeous backhands, and before Murray can say "Wh-wha...?", he's facing two more break points....
2-2 - Wawrinka hits a fizzing forehand winner past the outstretched racquet of the world number three to go 40-30, and closes out the game with a dismissively brilliant backhand cross-court.
- - Murray smacks himself in the forehead with his palm after fluffing a straightforward return off a second serve: it's well past the end of the court, and a good-looking opening at 15-30 is missed.
- - The crowd are starting to pull for the Scot/Brit (delete according to your own prejudices) as he starts pulling off a few nice winners; it's 15-30 on the Wawrinka serve.
1-2 - Murray starts the third game of the set well, and finishes it even better: first, sprinting into the net to meet a superb drop-shot from Wawrinka with a stunning, dipping cross-court winner; and then, with an ace - his first of the match - thundering down the centre.
1-1 - Two massive serves help Wawrinka close out his opening service game of the match. He's looking fantastically solid still.
0-1 - Murray finishes the game off extremely well with a terrific backhand winner down the line. The big Scot is trying to get himself pumped up in between points now - and it seems to be helping him.
- - Huge cheers from the crowd as Murray goes to 30-0 on his first two serves of the second set - cheers so loud that you can't help but feel there's a bit of irony in there...
- - Remember, you can catch up with all the other matches in progress with our incredible versatile, all-singing and dancing multiplex thing.
6-2 -
Murray goes long with a simple forehand, and it's three set points to the Swiss - who wins on the first as the Scot charges the net and volleys a mile long! What a dream start for the Swiss player - and it's incredible how eerily quiet it's gone inside the roofed-over Centre Court...
- - Wawrinka has the perfect answer, two massive serves to get to 30-0 and be two points from the set.
5-2 - Murray enjoys the rare luxury of a comfortbale service game, finally starting to impose himself a little on his opponent.
5-1 - It's another comfortable game for the Swiss player, who goes within a game of taking this first set. You have to give full credit to Wawrinka, he's been playing some very good tennis this evening.
- -
...and, in the interests of journalistic impartiality, come on Stanislas as well!!!
- -
That first game deserves a little flag - come on Andy!!!!
4-1 - ANDY MURRAY HAS WON A GAME AT LAST! Thank goodness for that... now all he needs is to fight back and break three times in a row and he'll win this first set!
- - The big Scot rolls out to 15-30 in the next service game - he could be looking at a bagel in the first set!
4-0 - Wawrinka gets to advantage, and then wins the game as Murray wrong-foots him with a winner that somehow floats just past the line... He's still yet to win a game.
- - Murray blows the opening with a backhand into the net...
- - Maybe the nerves are getting to Wawrinka now as well: he's been very tidy up til now, but a couple of mis-hits and a pair of double faults have suddenly turned 30-15 on his own serve into Advantage Murray - a first break point!
- - With the Swiss player looming at the net, Murray completely mis-hits a regultion backhand passing shot so badly that it almost clobbers the net post. He seriously needs to settle in to this, he's being run ragged at the moment.
3-0 -
Okay - this now has all the makings of a disaster. Andy Murray capitulates again in this second service game, constantly missing the lines and basically looking pretty shabby all round. Crumbs. Is the dream going to die already?
- - Wondering how the other matches are going? Tomas Berdych has just started against Andy Roddick - follow the action LIVE right here.
2-0 - It's another epic game there, but Wawrinka finally wins the game to go 2-0 ahead. It's early days, and understandable if Murray's just showing a few nerves.
- - Wawrinka clears the danger by finally getting some first serves in, but then nets a simple backhand and we're at deuce.
- - After coming out on top of two more long rallies Murray gets straight back at his opponent at 0-30. We've had endless monster rallies already in this match - looks like it might take a while... but with floodlights on, they can easily play til 10 if need be.
1-0 -
Wawrinka wins the game! He's broken Murray already! A terrific forehand pushes the Scot long and deep, and he can only flip the ball as far as half-way up the net. Not the start we were hoping for!
- - Murray goes for a huge winner, but it's in the net - and advantage Wawrinka...
- - A looooong rally - 27 shots! - ended with a charge to the net, brilliant cross-court and a soaring backhand smash helps Murray save the first two points, then Wawrinka goes long on the next to bring it to deuce!
- - Something has gone terribly wrong: Wawrinka has clearly been sent the wrong script by the Wimbledon organisers and is clearly trying to make a game of this. Some brilliant play - a stunning backhand passing shot and some fantastic nt play - earns him three break points already!
0-0 - The match gets under way and it's Murray to serve first...
- - Remember, you can keep up with all the other matches at Wimbledon today by opening a second windown for our super-fabulous multiplex thingy - you won't miss a thing!
- -
This will be a good run out - but Andy Murray would expect to win this one, no doubt about it...
- -
In their last two encounters - at the Rogers Masters in Toronto last July, and then again at the last-16 stage in the US Open a couple of months later - Murray has been the winner. At Flushing Meadows in their last match Murray won in three easy sets, 6-1 6-3 6-3.
- -
The tale of the head-to-heads isn't as one-sided as you might think. Murray leads 4-2 in their encounters, though the Swiss player hasn't beaten the British number one since May 2007 - when Murray was a very different prospect to the player he is today.
- - The players are out on court now for the warm-up. Wawrinka has won the toss and decided to receive.
- -
Evening everybody - it's Andy Murray's fourth-round encounter against Swiss number two Stanislas Wawrinka. Big news is that despite the lack of rain around at the moment, the decision has been made to keep the roof closed for this match!

Go sit on a cucumber. That's all you are good for. Ooh,er, is it in yet ?
it would be fitting after all to have a Murray/Federer final, and The Scot's talent powered up and fuelled by the huge support of a roaring one sided loving crowd might prove a mountain to climb for the Swiss Maestro,of course Switzerland is full of mountains, and fighting the crowd off is not really new for Federer as he faced Bagdhatis in Australia's final ,roaring greek-cypriot and greeks a large community there raising the Cypriot player to steal a set from the then absolute master at his top form. Can this compare to an British crowd enflammed by one of their own, probably not,and Mount Everest is not part of the Swiss Alps either,so i would tip Murray to win in a 55/45 odds against my man Federer,if both can reach the final,we'd be truly lucky and might witness an even better clash than last year's if that is at all possible.I,for one, pray for such a final, and will support you know who as hard as i can. See you there, fans
Well done Andy you weathered the storm
What are they dishing up in Comfort Break these days, when Wawrinka returned he performed
better than anyone I have seen in sixty years watching the sport apart from Nadal very suspicious
Considering he had a Medical break I could not see why that was allowed either.
The covered roof is magnificent.

Well done Andy, about time we had somebody we could support and that played well most times..
still has a long way to go but WERE ALL BACKING YOU!!
It's amazing how, given that we English, subsidise Scotland to the hilt, that Murray alternates between being British and Scottish at a whim.
I will refelect on exactly what he said about the England National football team.
Whoever Murray plays, I will cheer for his opponent.
Well done Andy - I do think that a sparing partner should be someone from the otherside of the draw and not a friend who you have been practising with. I am sure this must have an affect the players when they are playing a match. I sat on the edge of my seat watching you. Anyway WELL DONE you came through and I am proud of you. Good luck for the next match
I don't like Murray. I was for Wawrinka.
Reading the comments about the tennis and the Scots, I was surprised by the low literacy level of some of the writers. Is this what 10 or 11 years in the British educational system creates ? Such people who profess to be tennis supporters, should not broadcast their stupidity or bigotry, because it reflects badly on the normal tennis fanbase. Perhaps they would find a more suitable outlet for their educational brilliance, if they became football supporters instead.

For goodness sake, what a lot of children seem to be writing on this page. I am scottish and therefore proud of Andy, but of course he is also British. Just like the English call themselves English, the Welsh call themselves Welsh and the Irish call themselves Irish. We all have our own countries but are part of the big one!
Can we not just applaude the amazing job he has done so far and support him all the way? Its a game of sport and many people on here are not being very sporting. He's a fantastic player, a damn site better than most people could hope to be. I supported Tim Henman, so why cant' you get behind Andy?
COME ON MURRAY, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

My Old Mum always said If you cannot say something nice say nothing at all !!!
@ Tootsie, Course Andy classes himself as a Scot, being born and bred in Scotland means he is a Scot dimwit! I love the fact he is Scottish. My gran was English just like all her forebears but I was born in Scotland this makes me Scottish and a proud one just like Andy Murray. So Tootsie get over it.
Please stop all this English ; Scottish ; British nonesense. Just be thankful that he's not Welsh.
There's certain countries in this world who like to see the GB divide, makes them feel better. So Andy,do it for Britain United....
Up The English....
William Wallace will kill your familys for a celebration tonight! =)
