  1. - - To read about how Serena reached the semi-final after beating Elena Dementieva, click here

  2. 0-6 - Venus Williams wins in just 51 minutes to meet Serena in the Wimbledon final! This match was astonishingly one-sided, and Safina simply had no reply against the American, who was imperious!

  3. 0-5 - Safina shows good character in recovering from 0-30 to regain parity in the game with two good serves. The Russian completely capitulates in losing her serve for a third time, and Williams can now serve out for the match.

  4. 0-4 - Safina looks to be in despair as Williams holds again to consolidate her second break of serve in this set. Williams is looking utterly dominant, and the Russian just wants this match to end.

  5. 0-3 - Safina swipes a forehand into the net, and screams up at her box in discouragement. Williams is seeing every serve as if it is a beach ball Safina is delivering, and two fierce returns down the line give her an even more dominant lead in this second set.

  6. 0-2 - Williams is unflinching in bludgeoning two big first serves down the T and moving to 30-0, and Safina has no response. The American hammers another outwide to close out the match, after her opponent had mustered a solitary point. It is a very subdued atmosphere on Centre Court.

  7. 0-1 - If you hoped the second set might be slightly different: it looks unlikely to be! Williams breaks in the opening game to love, and the Russian is being utterly thrashed in this match.

  8. - - As the players prepare for the commencement of the second set, read about how Serena Williams battled through against Elena Dementieva in the first semi-final, by clicking here

  9. 1-6 - Williams slams a forehand down the line to move to 30-15, and after just 26 minutes, a huge first serve brings her two set points. Safina lashes a backhand long, and the first set goes to Venus Williams, without any hassle at all

  10. 1-5 - Safina spares herself the ignominy of losing the opening set to love, and the Russian holds serve to 30. It was still very hard going, with Williams pushing her all the way, but Safina found two good serves when she needed them.

  11. 0-5 - After just 19 minutes, Williams extends her lead to 5-0, holding serve and looking imperious! Safina seems utterly helpless in response, and the American is holding nothing back.

  12. 0-4 - Safina battles tirelessly, but Williams is relentless, and the American forces a break point after deuce with a fierce forehand. The Russian finds a good first serve to test Williams, but she hammers it down the line and forces Safina to find the net: this is a thrashing so far!

  13. 0-3 - Williams, who began the game with a serve of 112mph, follows it with a first delivery of 124mph to move to 40-30. Safina does well to take the game into deuce and forces a break point with a powerful forehand cross court. The number three seed survives it, and a crisp backhand volley consolidates her break to lead 3-0.

  14. 0-2 - What a start for Williams, who breaks on Safina's first service game, and extends her early lead to 2-0! The opening set looks an uphill task for Safina already, who found no rhythm at all.

  15. 0-1 - Williams holds her serve to love in the opening game of this second semi-final, and that could barely have been a more convincing start for the American.

  16. 0-0 - Venus Williams wins the toss and elects to serve first in this match on Centre Court.

  17. - - Russia's Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina have been tasked with halting Venus and Serena's inexorable cruise towards a fourth all-Williams final. Click here to read about why it's such a hard task

  18. - - The pair have met three times previously, with Williams edging it 2-1, winning twice on hard surfaces at the Tour Championships and in Rome. Safina's solitary victory came on the clay courts of Rome this year.

  19. - - World number one and first seed Dinara Safina has been very consistent this year, as her ranking suggests, but has yet to win her first Grand Slam. Click here to view the Russian's profile

  20. - - Venus Williams first won the tournament at the All England Club back in 2000, and followed that triumph with further victories in 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Click here to view the third seed's profile

  21. - - It is another sweltering day at Wimbledon, with temperatures reaching 32 degrees on a hot, dry afternoon in SW19.

  22. - - The second semi-final on Centre Court sees top seed Dinara Safina of Russia take on Wimbledon five-time champion Venus Williams.

  5. THE WILLIAMS ARE GETTING OLD YOU DON’T EXPECT THEM TO START JUMPING AROUND FROM ONE TOURNAMENT TO ANOTHER WHEN THE BIG PRIZE AND BIG NAME IS GRAND SLAM TITLE, THERE IS NO AGEING TENNIS PLAYER THAT HAVE NEVER DONE IT SAMPRAS DID IT, AGASSI DID IT AND WE CAN SEE ROGER DOING IT BY LOSSING TO PLAYERS AT THE EARLY STAGE OF TOURNAMENTS SO AS TO RESERVE SOME STRENGHT FOR GRAND SLAM, HOW ELSE CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS HE LOST OUT IN ROME TO WAWARINKA, WENT TO MADRID TOOK IT AND WENT TO RG AND TOOK IT, IT WAS JUST A WAY OF SAVING STRENGH FOR THE BIG GAMES A TIME COMES IN ONES LIFE WHEN HE CAN NO LONGER CHASE ALL THE GOALS HE LEAVES SOME FOR THE UP COMING GENERATIONAL STARS, EVERYBODY WILL DO IT, BE IT NADAL, NOVAK OR MURRAY, JUST WAIT AND SEE THEY WILL DEFINITELY GET TO AGE 27, 28, 29 AND 30 AND YOU WILL SEE THEM WITHDRAWING FROM MASTERS TOURNAMENT OR LOSSING OUT AT EARLIER STAGE JUST TO CONCENTRATE ON THE BIG MATCHES. IT IS LIFE THAT IS HOW IT GOES

  6. With the way Venus played this match I think she can beat anyone even Serena 6/1,6/0, if Serena was to play the way she played with Elena, but come to think of it there is time for everything and everyone has his or her surface, grass court is for Venus, and she has been saving her strength for this particular tournament that is why I know she will not loss the finals to Serena because she knows Serena still has a chance of Winning the US Open, if she losses tomorrow to Serena, it is either because she lost control and started having pity for her junior sister, something I think will not happen, in reality I don't think Serena's game on grass has the same excellent quality like that of Venus, as for Safina she met the wrong player and she really needs to learn from her past Experience when going into the US Open it is time she realizes that getting to every Grand Slam semifinals is not what counts it is the ability to stay focus with the plan you brought to the tournament with not the plan you learnt because of the opponent you are going to meet in the Finals, if she had at least tried to play Venus the way she played Amelie M. I think she would have made Venus scared, if you watch you could see that Venus was not serving he first service properly and that is because she was a bit scared of her opponent that could have been an opportunity for Safina to launch a series coming to the net to volley but what did she do she stayed back because she was told to play a different game and were did it get her? 6/1, 6/0.SHE REALLY NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO SERVE; WITH HER HEIGHT AM SURPRISE SHE CANNOT SERVE WELL.

  20. ...Enough!!Enough!!!enough of this hateful feelings and comments. Is it a sin to be a Champion? Is it a sin to be a winner and proof the World Female Tennis Rating System useless? Just imagine how the rated world No. 1 Dinara Safina was humiliated like an amateur. Look at the control from Venus. What else can she do to tell the world she a champion? Was that a foul play? When someone is good, let's accept that fact. The Williams Sisters are the best female tennis player in the world. No controversy! No racist comments can change that fact. They will always be remembered in Tennis, just like Micheal jackson in Music. Congrats to the Williamses....
