- - What a match! Roger Federer has surpassed Pete Sampras's record of Grand Slam victories, and Andy Roddick deserves monumental credit for his part in an epic match! Thanks for joining us!
14-16 -
ROGER FEDERER WINS HIS SIXTH WIMBLEDON AND 15TH GRAND SLAM!!! Two hesitant serves are pounced upon by Federer, who moves swiftly to 0-30 with the American losing his punch and driving a forehand long. Roddick responds again with three huge serves, but is taken to deuce by a Federer backhand. A tired forehand from Roddick gives Federer match point, and the American goes long!
14-15 - Federer hits his 50th ace, and holds his serve with consummate ease, hammering two further serves down the centre of the court to confound Roddick's attempts to break. The Swiss needs to find some inspiration on the American's delivery now.
14-14 - Roddick looks notably weary as he puts a backhand slice wide, but Federer does the same to leave the game delicately poised at 15-15. The American gets muddled attempting a volley at the net, but Federer misses a pass the next point at 30-30. Roddick then holds with two big serves, the second down the T, and this fifth match is locked at 14-14.
13-14 - Federer moves to within one ace of his half-century, and a backhand slice which drifts wide from Roddick gives the Swiss the game, holding to love. Like a Duracell bunny, this match just goes on, and on and on.
13-13 - Roddick, serving from 13-12 down, finds two more big serves as he sets up two game points at 40-15. Federer moves further up to the baseline to gamble on his returns, and forces deuce, but it is all in vain as Roddick hammers two more firecrackers down the T to hold.
12-13 - Federer is perhaps distracted by Roddick slipping at one end, and misses a simple forehand to give his opponent 15-30, but he responds with a savage ace down the centre! It is just one of three aces from the Swiss, who holds at 13-12!
12-12 - Rule out Roddick at your peril! The American holds his serve to love, and it remains impossible to predict who is going to edge this epic encounter! How can a break possibly be achieved with both serving in this form?
11-12 - Astonishing stuff! Federer saunters through his service game, and the Swiss serves his 45th ace in the process! The world number two takes his seat, and now Roddick will have to respond. I guess you know the general form of things by now though!
11-11 - Roddick wins two extended rallies with the Swiss over-hitting backhands on both occasions to hand him the advantage. However, despite those unforced errors, Roddick matches them as tiredness appears to set in. Federer takes the game to deuce, but Roddick answers every question fired his way, and holds once more!
10-11 - Federer has an aberration at 15-0, lashing a forehand hideously wide, but he does not let it affect him, and he hammers an ace down the T to close out the game and lead 11-10. What a final this is - truly staggering!
10-10 - Roddick continues to outmanoeuvre his opponent on serve, not relying entirely on his serve - although it does help! The American finds solace in two cheap points courtesy of his serve to level at 10-10 from 30-30!
9-10 - Federer lashes a forehand winner down the line to move to 30-15 after Roddick had found the baseline with a backhand. His 40th ace takes him clear once more, but a stunning backhand pass from Roddick narrows the deficit once more! Federer comes through unscathed with a big forehand, and leads 10-9!
9-9 - Roddick races 30-0 and, in response to a crisp forehand down the line from Federer, the American plays a sublime half-volley to hold serve YET AGAIN! What an epic fifth set we are experiencing!
8-9 - A flashing forehand winner from Roddick gives him the first point, but Federer finds a big serve down the T to cancel it out. Roddick hustles relentlessly in an epic rally to take a 15-30 lead, and a stunning backhand winner gives him two break points! The first is saved by a big first serve, and the second by a crisp volley, and somehow Federer survives once more!
8-8 - Roddick begins with an ace, and any thoughts Federer might have had about putting the pressure on early in the game are quickly quelled by a monstrous first serve as Roddick holds to 15, and levels at 8-8.
7-8 - An incredible smash from the baseline by Federer is followed by a backhand pass which faintly clips the line, and the Swiss ends with an ace: what a stupendous game from Federer, how can Roddick stay with him?!
7-7 - An unsuccessful challenge from Federer on Roddick's serve allows the American to get a foothold at 30-15, but Federer keeps the pressure on at 40-30. Roddick holds steady, and stays with the world number two at 7-7.
6-7 - Roddick establishes himself on Federer's serve with two incredible forehands after retrieving drop shots from his opponent. Federer keeps his cool, and finds two first serves to extend his lead once again! Who are you backing to clinch this?
6-6 - Roddick wins the opening point on his serve, but Federer clinches a stunning rally with a deft forehand cross court to put his opponent on the back foot. Roddick responds immediately with an ace, and wins the game with a crunching backhand winner down the line!
5-6 - Federer continues to hammer down aces for fun, joining Roddick in rattling through service games as if there were no pressure whatsoever! The world number two holds to 15, and you cannot see where a break of serve is going to come from!
5-5 - Roddick holds to love, and the American produces a barrage of clean serves to leave Federer helpless. The Swiss is becoming increasingly frustrated by his opponent's ability to win cheap points.
4-5 - Federer wins a long, patient rally to go 15-0, and follows it with a big ace to consolidate further. A wild and erratic swing from the Swiss lets Roddick back in, but he finishes with another fierce ace.
4-4 - Roddick begins with a big ace down the centre of the court, but a crisp forehand winner down the line from Federer pegs him back to 15-15. Roddick holds his composure admirably to close the game out with no further damage, and this could be a long finale!
3-4 - A booming ace from Federer outwide is followed by a second in succession as he closes out the game to lead 4-3 in this final set, and it is impossible to predict who will seize the initiative, will both players looking strong!

2-3 - Federer keeps his nose in front with three aces and a big forehand winner, and you can barely ask for a more convincing manner in which to close out a service game in a fifth set. Roddick will have to sustain this intensity.
2-2 - Roddick begins with a thunderous serve outwide, and follows it with a delivery down the centre which Federer plants into the net. From 30-0 Roddick sees a backhand drift into the net from his opponent, and a love hold is exactly what the American needed as a breather.
1-2 - Roddick's self-acclaimed new regime is being tested to the limit on Centre Court, with Federer engaging him in long rallies as he holds to lead 2-1. The American is surviving well thus far, despite the match being in a fifth set.

0-1 - Federer holds with ease in the first game of the final set, and it prompts the question: will serving first be an advantage for the Swiss in this crucial fifth? We will soon find out.

Roddick wins the fourth set! Federer surges into a 0-30 lead, with Roddick erring slightly on serve, but two big first serve get the American back on terms. Roddick does brilliantly to keep a long rally alive with a forehand on the stretch, and Federer finds the net. The sixth seed then closes out the fourth set with a booming first serve, and we are into a fifth set!
5-3 - Federer holds to 15, and the game is held up slightly as Roddick takes a tumble, twisting horribly on his left knee, but after a slight delay he gets back to his feet gingerly. The American now has the opportunity to close out the fourth set.
5-2 - Roddick is hugely intense in his demeanour as he struts between serves in an agitated fashion. The American commits a double fault to take the game to 30-30, but wins an epic 21-shot rally with a powerful forehand, which he follows with an ace to hold - incredible strength of mind!
4-2 - Having consolidated his break of serve, Roddick is unable to inflict further damage on the Swiss's serve, and Federer holds comfortably, clearly stunned by what has just happened.
4-1 - A careless forehand from Federer gives Roddick game point at 40-30 after the Swiss had forced the American to 30-30 with two crisp forehand winners. The world number two takes the game into deuce, but fails to chase down a drop shot as Roddick takes control once more, and he holds with composure.
3-1 -
Roddick breaks! Federer slices a backhand into the net to gift Roddick a lead of 15-30 in his latest service game, and a stunning backhand volley gives the American two break points.
