7-6 -
OUCH! What a horrible way to lose the match as Murray slaps down a double fault. ALL CREDIT TO FEDERER THOUGH as he was sublime today in beating Murray
TB9-8 -
Murray misses a forehand though and Federer sets up a second match point with an ace away from Murray right into the corner of the box
TB7-8 -
Federer runs around the ball and slaps his forehand well beyond the baseline and he should really he had the match won there. But instead Murray earns himself a second set point
TB7-6 -
Federer comes up with a great serve down the centre of court of his own leaving Murray to return into the net and Federer lands a ball straight on the line to set up his first match point. Murray challenges but the ball was good and Federer could end this here
TB5-6 -
But instead it is Murray who has a set point when he fires an ace down the centre of the court. It's on the Federer serve though
TB5-4 -
Federer shanks a backhand across court to allow Murray back into this tie-break when it was distinctly possible he could have had a match point right now
TB4-2 -
Federer leads 4-2 at the change of ends and probably should have lead 5-1 but dumped a slack forehand into the net after running round the ball and trying to batter a forehand down the line
6-6 - Sure enough folks, it is tie-break time as Murray holds to 15 when Federer sends his backhand down the line wide into the tramlines
6-5 - Federer also posts another very strong service hold, also finishing with an ace straight down the centre of the court and that secures at least a tie-break end to this set for the world number one
5-5 - A very strong game from Murray as he comes up with a couple of great passing shots, including one backhand passing shot down the line that he hits around the net post before holding with an ace down the centre of the court
5-4 - Another game gets away from Murray despite him pushing Federer to 30. But a running forehand down the line from Murray fails to find the court and the Scot will have to serve to stay in it after the change of ends
4-4 - Murray looks to be cruising at 40-15 before slapping a couple of forehands long to let Federer right back into the game. Murray, whose right hand is bleeding from punching the strings of his racquet, yells at himself to "concentrate" and it appears to work as he comes up with a couple of great first serves on his way to a hold
4-3 - A great time for Federer to post a love service hold as he looks to stop any momentum Murray may be gathering
3-3 - Murray is finding his feet now as he has Federer scampering all over the back of the back of the court, sending the world number one two metres beyond the tramlines as he attempts to return a forehand. He doesn't get it back though, unsurprisingly, and Murray goes on to hold
3-2 - Federer pulls another forehand wide across court. That shot is not working well for him today. Having said that of course, it hasn't matter yet as he holds once again to 15 with a backhand winner down the line that Murray has a look at but doesn't bother to challenge
2-2 - Much, much better from Murray as he races through a love service game which culminates in a forehand winner whipped across court
2-1 - Another comfortable service hold for Federer - the only lost point coming when Murray raced up to a fairly poor drop shot and fired away a forehand passing shot down the line
1-1 - Better from Murray as he manages to hold to 15 with a forehand winner - keeping up an almost constant dialog with himself. Pretty much a tirade actually. An almost constant tirade
1-0 - Unless Murray can come up with something absolutely outstanding this match is going to be over very quickly indeed as Federer holds with ease for the opening game of the second set with a huge serve out wide followed by a forehand across court into the other corner
6-2 -
FEDERER BREAKS AGAIN TO TAKE THE FIRST SET! Federer is absolutely on fire today as he earns himself a first set point with a sensational forehand winner. The set point goes looks like it's gone begging when Federer just misses the sideline but the world number one challenges and the ball is shown to have caught the line. There's no way Murray would have got anywhere near it and so that is the set
5-2 - Federer holds once again to 15 when Murray pulls a backhand down the line just wide and the Scot will have to serve to stay in the first set after the change of ends
4-2 - Murray really isn't in this game yet as he faces another two break points - he saves the first when Federer sends a forehand long of the baseline and the second with a stunning running forehand across court that Federer can only return into the net. That's a sensational shot from Murray, from behind himself and only just over the net. Federer hits long on the next rally and Murray holds with a first serve that Fed returns into the net
4-1 - Federer moves further ahead despite badly shanking an inside out forehand well wide across court when Murray was on the run. Still the world number one does get the hold when Murray hits a forehand into the net
3-1 -
FEDERER BREAKS! The world number one draws the first blood, breaking to deuce when Murray sends his forehand down the centre of court sails long
2-1 - Another relatively simple service hold for Federer when Murray hits a forehand into the net, although this time the Scot pushes him to 30
1-1 - Murray also holds with relative ease, holdign to 15 when Federer slaps a forehand long down the centre of the court
1-0 - Federer posts a fairly comfortable service hold to begin on what is a changeable day in Cincinnati. Hopefully the rain will hold off but it's a little overcast at the moment
19:11 - So it'll be Federer to get the clash underway as Murray won the toss and opted to receieve first ...
19:05 -
Murray and Federer have faced each other eight times before with the Scot having the better of the clashes - winning six and only losing two. The big one though, the US Open final last year, went the way of Federer
19:01 - Hello and welcome to Eurosport Yahoo!s LIVE coverage from this the first of the semi-finals from the Cincinnati Masters between Roger Federer and Andy Murray

I love Roger congratulations to you continue this way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
federer is an awful player
federer you are an awful player you are just luckiy
"it is at GS that people bring they're best because GS are more prestigious than other matches."
No, they obviously do their best for every match, they are virtually completely comparable.
"It's like sayng that a winner in Formula3 mathces one in Formula1."
Those are different sports.
"OUCH! What a horrible way to lose the match as Murray slaps down a double fault" (Eurosport). hahahaha OUCH, it hurts!!!
Where is Simon Reed? Never mind, we'll hear from him few days before the US Open starts. Right now he is licking his wounds!!!
I just hope McEnroe and Reed watched the whole match! Fed,thanks for putting Andy where he belongs! I keep wondering if Reed is just toying with us or he hasnt realized what it is to be a true No.1
ROG U THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Murry is a new # 1????????????????????????????????????????????
NOW,I CAN WATCH DECENT TENNIS....!!!!
And wasdwasdedsfedsf if you think Olimpycs are the same as every other event at any sport discipline then that argument is the insane one
wasdwasdedsfedsf i think you are very wrong here. Grand slam matches are not the same as regular tournament matches, it is at GS that people bring they're best because GS are more prestigious than other matches. It's like sayng that a winner in Formula3 mathces one in Formula1. I'm not a Murray hater i'm just an overrated Murray hater. (and not really hater but more anoyed)
pudeetat shut up!! roger is the clear winner and no.1
"wasdwasdedsfedsf big matches are GS matches and there the only comparison is the victory fed had at US Open over Murray so for now YES at big matches Murray jsut doesn't measure up to the others."
No, thats not what big matches are. Matches that are perfectly measurable where players are tenniswise is where the players play at 90%+ whatever, where they try their best pretty much. And that happends virtually every match. Even less than that is a decent measurement. A lot of people here are commenting on how murray keeps on winning these "loser tournaments" which nobody cares about but has no chance in the big matches. That whole argument is obviously beyond insanity and they really need to get help. Masters and grand slams is the same thing, its the same game, which of course the odds reflect perfectly, because they are mathematical and perfectly logical. Unlike all these crazy, irrational comments everywhere on here.
There is no comparison between Roger and Murray. The winning record of Murray against Federer is over-rated; most of Murray victories came during the slump of Federer when he was losing to other players as well. Roger got his mojo back, and today we witnessed that Murray does not have any chance against Roger when Roger is playing well. All those Murray fans (chrisf) please get a grip; Murray will not win a Grand slam anytime soon.
Roger rules Murray sucks!!!!!!
"To anyone who thinks Andy is not at his best today, think again. His best is just not enough. Not just yet."
lol, like you have any clue. Not enough? So thats why hes 7-3.
"Silly Murray, challenging when he wasn't a 100% sure."
lol silly reatrd, thats not an optimal strategy
"Murray the real number 1 ? How was that again Mr. Reed ?"
yes thats right, the best player in the world will never lose a match.
"6-2 7-6
Murray proved that he's not the true number 1 and he'll never be."
Oh really, how do you figure that? He didnt prove anything. You want to bet some money then? You have nothing to lose since he will never be number one.
"and Fed was relaxed just playing his usual game."
What usual game, I havent seen him play like that since like the aus open semis.
"I made a comment yesterday that Murray will not win Cincinnati, neither the US open and users lashed out at me...I hope this match confirms it. "
Oh, so you want to make a bet then? He wont win it, so its free money for you. Ill give you 1.1 if Murray doesent win US open, deal?
"Today we saw that the rank difference between Fed and Murray should be of 10 points at least. "
Oh, so thast why hes 7-3? Or did you mean the ranking difference should be murray 1st and fed 11th?
"Unless Murray stops staying way back at the baseline he's a long way from a GS"
lol what?
One thing is sure! Murray is not a big match player. Federer is the Master of his own self and will continue to win Majors till he is left with motivation! Murray is a sulker who brags about beating Federer number of times in unimportant events. When it comes to Slams, Fedex is the ultimate winning machine. Hats Off to you Fedex! Be Ready to win U.S. Open.
Well done Andy ! Let the Federer sycophants (they probably don't even know what that means) have their brief (and it will be brief!)last (and it will be their last) moments of glory. Glad you and your team came to your senses and decided to let Federer have this one so that you can now concentrate on winning at Flushing Meadows. Shame about your bad back, the ...er virus, the food poisoning and all the other little excuses that Federer usually uses when you beat him Andy, but even if you get back to being 75% fitness for New York that will be good enough to win your first Major. Federer is finished !
wasdwasdedsfedsf big matches are GS matches and there the only comparison is the victory fed had at US Open over Murray so for now YES at big matches Murray jsut doesn't measure up to the others.
Get a life, Murray's just trying to win like the other guys, he'll improve and some of you may have to eat your rather bitter words!
