  1. 7-5 - FEDERER IS THROUGH TO THE FINAL! The world number one runs around the ball to batter a forehand winner straight down the line and that sees him through to his sixth straight US Open final where he will face Juan Martin Del Potro

  2. 40-0 - Federer comes up with a between the legs passing shot winner off a Djokovic lob and that brings up THREE MATCH POINTS FOR THE WORLD NUMBER ONE ...

  3. 6-5 - Ace number seven from Federer leaves Djokovic serving to stay in the match for a second time after a hold to 15 from the world number one

  4. 5-5 - Djokovic comes up with a great passing shot down to Federer's feet. The world number one gets his racquet to the ball but can't get a real connection and Djokovic holds yet again

  5. 5-4 - Wow, a horrible double fault from Federer at 15-30 down and Djokovic has two break points. Great defence from the world number one saves the first and Djokovic hits a forehand long to squander the second. And Federer goes on to hold after two errors from Djokovic, a forehand long and a backhand into the net. The Serb will have to serve to stay in the match

  6. 4-4 - Djokovic saves a break point with a great first serve that sees Federer hit wide. A poor backhand drop shot on the next point hands Federer a second chance but the world number one shanks another backhand wide before Djokovic goes on to hold and level up

  7. 4-3 - Ever since Federer broke back in the first set, he has looked very impressive on serve and he holds once again to 15 to go ahead by wrong-footing Djokovic on the baseline

  8. 3-3 - Djokovic so far is keeping his nerve well in this set, easing through another service game to stick with Federer. Still he's done that in the previous two sets and Federer won both of them as well

  9. 3-2 - Another blink and you'll miss it service hold from Federer keeps all the pressure firly on Djokovic as he looks to get himself back in this match

  10. 2-2 - The serve continues to be the dominant factor in this match as Djokovic holds once again when Federer hits a forehand return of serve low into the net

  11. 2-1 - Federer holds with ease once again leaping up to batter away a forehand volley winner to seal the game and jogging on back to his chair

  12. 1-1 - Djokovic posts another very solid service hold to stick with Federer - he just can't quite seem to win the big games though which could well cost him tonight

  13. 1-0 - Federer holds for the opening game of the third set with an absolutely stunning backhand down the line winner that pretty much went around the net post

  14. 7-5 - FEDERER TAKES THE SECOND SET! Federer earns himself two set points with a forehand return of serve winner - his 15th forehand winner of the match ... Djokovic saves the first when Federer shanks a backhand well long of the baseline and the world number one sees the second go begging when he hits a backhand into the net. Federer gets extremely lucky with a net cord on a sliced backhand across court that bounces just over the net and makes Djokovic's return (which he hits into the net) very tricky. It brings up Federer's third set point and this time he gets it with an inside out forehand winner

  15. 6-5 - Djokovic will have to serve to stay in the set for a second time after Federer holds when Djokovic hits just long. The Serb is earning himself a lot of fans in New York though as he comes up with some incredible anticipation at the net to fire four volleys back at Federer before turning round and offering his backside as a target mid-point. Needless to say Federer wins the point but the crowd are loving it

  16. 5-5 - Djokovic's confidence must be rising once again as he posts a very solid service hold, concluding with a forehand winner around the net post

  17. 5-4 - Federer races through a love service hold to sling all the pressure back on Djokovic and leave the Serb serving to stay in the second set

  18. 4-4 - Djokovic unleashes a real bullet of a forehand across court - the ball is called wide but the Serb challenges and is proven correct. He did land the ball and holds to 15 to level up once again

  19. 4-3 - Djokovic gets himself into a promising at 0-30 up against the Federer serve but a couple of great first serves see Federer recover before the world number one just incredibly lucky and mis-hits a forehand but still sees it land just inside the baseline for almost the perfect lob before going on to hold when Djokovic misses a forehand across court. But that wasn't an easy game for the world number one, he squandered a number of game points before eventually holding on

  20. 3-3 - Another very solid service game from Djokovic as he holds when Federer is unable to cope with the pace of the ball and hits into the net

  21. 3-2 - Djokovic causes Federer a little more trouble on serve this time as he pushes the world number one to 30-30 before Federer comes up with a great backhand down the line that forces Djokovic to hit a rushed forehand into the net

  22. 2-2 - After a brief period where it looked like Djokovic might implode towards the end of that first set, the Serb has recovered his composure well and now holds to 15 to stick with Federer

  23. 2-1 - Yep, the Federer first serve is definitely back now as he eases through another solid hold to stay in front. He also whips a forehand winner across court which will be encouraging given its his forehand that's letting him down a little today

  24. 1-1 - Djokovic does wll to open up his second set account with a service hold to 15 as Federer misses another couple of forehands

  25. 1-0 - Federer is beginning to fire ominously well on his serve now as he races through a service hold to 15 to open up the second set

  26. 7-6 - Federer only needs the one set point though as Djokovic slaps long to hand the world number one the first set. The Serb then heads back to his chair furious hitting his thighs with his racquet

  27. TB6-3 - Federer riffles a forehand return of serve across court for a winner to bring up three set points, the first two of which will be on his own serve

  28. TB4-2 - Djokovic battles to find his range especially on the forehand which is usually his go-to shot if he's in trouble and Federer takes the mini-break lead into the change of ends

  29. 6-6 - Federer holds to 15 when Djokovic hits long to force the first set tie-break, which on the balance of things is probably a fair result to this first set

  30. 5-6 - Djokovic looks to be cruising through his service game before a couple of errors and a brilliant inside out, angled forehand winner across court leaves Djokovic staring at a break point. But Federer sends a backhand long to squander the chance. The Serb is furious when a serve of his called out is over-ruled by a hawkeye challenge and not given as a winner despite Federer attempting to make a play on the ball and missing before the call. But he recovers to hold when Federer hits long off the backhand wing

  31. 5-5 - Consecutive forehands out, literally out by milimetres, from Djokovic help Federer on his way to another service hold that sees the world number one level up once again

  32. 4-5 - Djokovic gets things back on track, recording a service hold to 30 when Federer fails to find the court with a forehand. And that hold will leave the world number one serving to stay in this first set

  33. 4-4 - Federer has been struggling slightly so far today to get his first serve it but he comes up with ace number one on game point to hold and get things back on level terms

  34. 3-4 - FEDERER BREAKS BACK! If the last game was just about perfect from Djokovic, this one was pretty much the exact opposite as the world number four slaps three straight errors before chucking in a double fault. Poor, very poor from the Serb

  35. 2-4 - DJOKOVIC BREAKS! Djokovic earns himself two break points of his own when Federer slaps a forehand long of the baseline and the Serb draws first blood when the Swiss world number one hits a forehand into the net. Federer was on the back foot right from the start in that rally as Djokovic sent his forehand return of serve right on to the baseline

  36. 2-3 - Novak Djokovic saves a couple of break points - the second with a really intelligent first serve out wide at just 77mph before going on to hold when Federer sends his backhand return into the net

  37. 2-2 - The serve continues to dominate as Federer follows up Djokovic's hold to 15 with one of his own when the Serb shanks a forehand return well wide

  38. 1-2 - Djokovic drops just the one point on his second service game with a forehand into the net. But Federer sends a inside out forehand well long and slightly wide on game point

  39. 1-1 - Federer also gets off the mark with a love service hold when Djokovic struggles to find his range on his forehand

  40. 0-1 - A very impressive start from Djokovic as he holds to love to get off the mark with some huge serving

  41. 0-0 - The players are pretty much ready to go now and with Djokovic having won the toss and opting to serve first, it will be the Serb to get the match underway

  42. 21:31 - These guys already know who they will face in tomorrow's final should they be victorious today. But in case you missed it, or have forgotten (surely not?!) you can catch up on the Del Potro's triumph by clicking here
