The chance goes begging for the Argentine as he hits into the net and Nadal even has a game point to hold but a forehand just wide followed by a forehand long under real pressure from Del Potro and Nadal hands his opponent an early break in this third set

  11. 2-6 - DEL POTRO TAKES THE SECOND SET! The first goes begging when Del Potro hits a forehand into the net but he quickly grabs the two set lead at the second attempt when Nadal hits a forehand into the net of his own. It's a long way back for the Spaniard now

This time the Argentine is at fault slapping a forehand long when he had Nadal on the run but once again Nadal produces a forehand error, a off forehand out wide, to hand Del Potro another go

  16. 1-4 - Better from Nadal as he crunches a forehand winner across court to bring up an immediate break back point but he just can't maintain his form today and consecutive forehands into the net leave Del Potro with a game point, which the Argentine grabs when Nadal hits long

  17. 1-3 - DEL POTRO BREAKS! Del Potro runs around the ball and thumps a forehand winner staight down the line to bring up a first break point and unfortunately for Nadal, the Spaniard slaps a double fault to concede his serve tamely

Nadal saves a first set point with a cross court backhand winner after he had sent Del Potro wide on the opposite side and a second with an ace out wide but a forehand error from the Spaniard hands Del Potro a second chance and this time he grabs it with both hands, crunching an off-forehand across court for a winner

  22. 2-5 - Rafa comes up with an outrageous cross court forehand passing shot at full stretch and on the run to bring up a break back point. He hits just long with a forehand on the next point but a double fault from Del Potro (how often does that happen?!) and the Spaniard has a second chance. The Argentine quickly redeems himself with a great first serve out wide that Nadal can only return wide before consecutive forehand errors from Nadal seem to hand him the hold. But the second is correctly challenged by Nadal and Del Potro has to come up with an ace four points later to eventually hold

  23. 2-4 - Nadal holds to love when Del Potro slaps a forehand long down the centre of the court and that should get things back on track for the Spaniard. Of course, he needs to break back as well, which is not going to be easy as already Del Potro is serving very well

  24. 1-4 - Del Potro takes a tumble mid-way through another service hold to 30, that consolidates his early break. Its nothing serious but the big man takes his time to get to his feet and is a little tentative with his movement on the next couple of points

  25. 1-3 - DEL POTRO BREAKS! Nadal gets himself out of another spot of bother at 15-30 down with some more heavy hitting off which Del Potro again hits a forehand down the line long. The Argentine earns himself a second break chance with a vicious off-forehand right into the corner of the court ... but he quickly drags a forehand into the net after a solid body serve from Nadal but he earns himself a second chance ... and this time he gets it when Nadal hits a backhand volley long of the baseline after being really tested at the net by the Argentine

I really dont understand some foul brains here,Tennis­­ is all about winning and the better player wins. when­­ Nadal wins,he has recovered and suprisingly he is­­ hitting form or he has hit form.When he loses oOOh is­ his head or mouth or­ stomach.When won the quarters and­ others,he was incredible but­ when he loses it is­ sickness/stomach.There are players naturally­ gifted­ who has played more then him but no injurry.this­ is­ not football, a good tennis player can play 15yrs­­ without injury but when you force your self into it­­ that is when you get injurry,give kudos to the winner­­ after all this is not the first time they have played­­ each.The likes of Federer,Sampras,Agasi are rare to­­ see. No matter how you try to caption it and put Nadal­­ there,he is still far to compare with them,he has­­ tried,he is a good muscle force player,that is obvious­­ but cannot compare Federer in all accept of the­­ game(TENNIS).All the sick in the brian should face­­ reality as history is there to prove.

He wasnt intimidated at all by­ nadal, and one of nadals strongest points is the top­ spin he puts on the ball but thats played to potros ­ strengths since hes soo tall. Dudes got game, yea nadal­ was injured but he got beaten in the mind long before­ the game finished. He was frustrated cos no matter what­ he did potro came back with something. Nadal could be­ back to being 100% fit and he still would have lost. If­ he plays like this in the final then hes definetly good­ enough to win the trophy.

  18. The Federer - Djocovic final was sheduled to be the­ first one today and Nadal wanted to play first(he asked­ for that). That's why the semifinal from the lower­ part of the draw has taken place first. I don't­ think that he has not recovered from the las match he­ had against Gonzales. First of all the match was very­ short, and second of all if he knew he has not­ recovered he had not asked to play first. I think nadal­ was mentaly weak today. And he was a litle injured am­ the abdominal muscles, but that is not an excuse for­ this loss. He had that small injury almost the whole­ tournament. Too bad we can't see a Federer - Nadal­ final. I think Federer whould have won anyway.

  19. hey guys ,do put it in context , players do have peak­ periods and not such peak periods...... remember­ federer last year when every body was writing him off.­ well lets not judge Nadal on this year's­ performance as you have all seen him out of the game­ for a while . judge him on what he does next year , all­ the same well done boy , i do support you win or lose­ and you didn`t play badly today, Del porto just played­ the better power game.you achievement can never be­ taken away from you. you made a one side federer tennis­ interesting that is why people can have these­ discussions.
