  7. 5-5 - Verdasco again shows immense courage in staving off a break point as Del Potro keeps his opponent under the cosh, and the Spaniard comes through his service hold from deuce with two fierce forehands to level at 5-5.

  8. 5-4 - VERDASCO BREAKS BACK! The Spaniard produces some superb tennis to apply the pressure to his opponent, and Del Potro buckles! The Argentine fires a forehand long to squander his advantage, and we are back on terms in this final set!

  9. 5-3 - Verdasco shows his character and resolve with a determined service hold and the Spaniard puts huge pressure on his opponent now to keep his composure and close out the match.

  10. 5-2 - The Argentine looks set to close out his first victory in the tournament after comfortably consolidating his break of serve to extend his lead to 5-2 in this third and decisive set! Can Verdasco do anything to haul himself back into the contest?

  11. 4-2 - Del Potro forces two break points at 15-40 with an outrageous backhand winner and, although Verdasco hauls himself back to 30-40 with a precise forehand, the Spaniard over-hits a backhand to concede what could prove a decisive break of serve!

  12. 3-2 - A crunching ace down the T from Del Potro begins his service game in convincing fashion! The Argentine does not drop his level throughout and re-exerts his authority at 3-2.

  13. 2-2 - Del Potro plays a ridiculously good backhand down the line, and follows it up with a deft backhand drop-volley to peg Verdasco back to 30-30! The Argentine is unhappy with a bounce as Verdasco moves to 40-30, and a fierce forehand winner closes out the game.

  14. 2-1 - Verdasco is getting very agitated with a few bounces from the court at the O2 Arena, and Del Potro capitalises on his discomfort by holding to 15 to move in front once more in this third set.

  15. 1-1 - Verdasco whips an incredible forehand winner from a very tight angle to lead 40-30, but Del Potro responds with an obscenely good backhand to take the game into deuce! The Spaniard finds another forehand winner down the line before a huge serve down the T to close out the game.

  16. 1-0 - Del Potro shows both sides of his game with two sloppy unforced errors, followed by some inspired strokeplay to hold in the opening game of the third and decisive set. How will Verdasco settle now?

  18. 3-6 - SET VERDASCO! The Spaniard steals in at the business end of the second set to break Del Potro and close out the set with a very composed hold at 5-3 to level the match up at one set all! A huge forehand down the line is enough for Verdasco to clinch the set and he clenches his fist in delight!

  19. 3-5 - Del Potro's seventh ace of the match pegs Verdasco back from 0-30 but, after forcing the game to deuce, the Argentine fires a forehand long to hand his opponent a break point. Verdasco makes a fine backhand return and Del Potro goes long with a forehand once more to break serve!

  20. 3-4 - Del Potro looks to be piling the pressure on Verdasco with two fierce forehand winners, but the Spaniard responds impressively with a pair of huge serves to force his way back to 30-30. A rasping backhand down the line gives him 40-30, but he has to close the game out from deuce.

  21. 3-3 - Despite challenging a very tight call at the end of the game, the Spaniard cannot put Del Potro under any real pressure and he holds serve convincingly once more to stay toe-to-toe with his opponent.

  22. 2-3 - Verdasco appears as comfortable winning points with his second serve as with his first, and he wins two cheap points with deliveries to Del Potro's body as he holds to 15 with a delightful backhand down the line.

  23. 2-2 - It is all too easy for Del Potro and his opponent is furious with himself for assisting him! The US Open champion races to 40-0 with some clinical first serves, and holds to 15 with a crisp volley to level at 2-2!

  24. 1-2 - Del Potro skews a backhand wide as Verdasco swiftly moves to 40-0, but the Argentine clambers his way back to 40-30 with a sublime drop shot. Verdasco holds on with a fine volley to restore his lead at 2-1.

  25. 1-1 - A precise ace down the T from Del Potro takes the game to 15-15, and a sliced delivery outwide to the deuce court enables the Argentine to level the match up at 1-1.

  26. 0-1 - A superbly-worked point from Verdasco, culminating in a forehand down the line gives him 40-0, and a big serve closes out the opening game of the second set - a good sign of intent from the Spaniard!

  29. 6-4 - SET DEL POTRO! The US Open champion is forced to save two break points as he holds on obdurately to close out the opening set 6-4 and stamp his authority on the match! Can Verdasco recover to turn this match around from a set down?

  30. 5-4 - Del Potro has the body language of a player who has received a diabolical bounce off the court as he frames a forehand into the stands at 30-0! Verdasco completest the game to love and forces his opponent to serve out for the first set.

  31. 5-3 - Verdasco is furious with himself for scuffing a forehand into the net under very little pressure from his opponent, who moves to within one game of the first set with a hold to 15 - the Argentine is displaying a very cool head.

  32. 4-3 - Verdasco pummels a forehand down the line to move to 40-15, and a sloppy backhand from Del Potro gives the Spaniard the game as he keeps his opponent on his toes.

  33. 4-2 - Del Potro is utterly ruthless on his serve and restores his two-game cushion with a composed game to 15. The Argentine is not serving with particular ferocity but is being very clinical on his forehand side.

  34. 3-2 - Verdasco fires a fierce ace outwide to Del Potro's forehand from the deuce court, and another to his backhand two points later as he rattles through a convincing service hold to 15.

  35. 3-1 - Del Potro consolidates his break of serve, but it is not plain sailing for the Argentine as Verdasco takes him to 30 with two huge forehands down the line.

  36. 2-1 - A horribly skewed forehand from Verdasco flies into the stands as Del Potro forces two break points! The Spaniard fires a stunning ace outwide to save the first, but slices a forehand wide as the Argentine seizes the early initiative!

  37. 1-1 - Del Potro settles equally as quickly with a hold to love of real conviction, firing two huge first serves down the T to level the opening set up at 1-1.
