SPAIN 6-2 6-3 7-5 - GAME, SET & MATCH! Ferrer sinks to his knee after another epic rally ends with a Berdych forehand into the bottom of the net. The Spaniard serves out to love to ensure this final goes right down to the final match
- -
SPAIN 6-2 6-3 6-5 - BREAK! Berdych saves a first break point with forehand winner from the middle of the court and then also the second with an ace down the centre of the T. But Ferrer earns himself a third chance and this time the Spaniard does sneak back out in front when Berdych sends a forehand long. Ferrer will serve for the match and to push this final into the fifth decisive rubber
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 5-5 - Ferrer bounces back with a love service hold of his own despite Berdych having a golden chance to get a point on the board only to fire his, admittedly slightly tricky, smash well wide completely across court
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 4-5 - Three games in a row for Berdych as he races through a love service hold with back-to-back aces to leave Ferrer suddenly staring at serving to stay in this set, not serving for the match as he might have thought he would be just a few moments ago
- -
SPAIN 6-2 6-3 4-4 - BREAK! Berdych thinks he may have earned himself another break point but the ball is actually well wide, confirmed by a hawkeye challenge by the Czech player. He does get a break point not too long later though and this time he does break, Ferrer whipping a cross court forehand wide into the tramlines for a change. We're back on serve in this third set!
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 4-3 - Running out of words now for Ferrer's play as he ducks down to flick a backhand down the line. It dips viciously as soon as it is over the net and Berdych can only volley back into the net to hand the Spaniard another break point. Berdych saves it with an ace and then goes on to hold without any more drama
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 4-2 - Ferrer has not only been playing at a quite phenomenal level today but he has kept it consistently high as he holds to 30 with a huge first serve, even bigger forehand down the line and then backhand cross court volley winner
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 3-2 - Despite being two sets and a break up and 0-40 down against the Berdych serve, Ferrer still charges around the court like he is break point down. And it works as he produces back-to-back forehand winners to get back to 30-40 down. But a huge first serve and forehand winner combo from the Czech player sees him hold and keep the deficit to just the one break
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 3-1 - Ferrer races through another service game, holding to 30 with another huge serve that Berdych can only return long. Berdych has only once taken Ferrer to deuce, such has been the imperious nature of the Spaniard's serving in this match
- -
SPAIN 6-2 6-3 2-1 - BREAK! A whipped cross court forehand passing shot winner from Ferrer brings up another two break points. But once again he only needs the one chance as he fires a blistering forehand return of serve winner to seal the break. Surely that's the match gone for Berdych now?
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 1-1 - A few uncharacteristic errors creeping in to Ferrer's game now as he first puts a forehand into the net and then squanders a first game point with a forehand long. But he makes amends on the second game point, a blistering forehand approach shot going for a winner
- - SPAIN 6-2 6-3 0-1 - Ferrer's forehand down the line drifts just long to help Berdych with two game points, but he wraps it up on the first with a forehand winner to get off the mark much better than the previous two sets when he dropped his first service game
- -
SPAIN 6-2 6-3 - SET! An ace from Ferrer brings up two set points but he only needs the one, dinking a low forehand volley over the net with such a deft touch that Berdych cannot get there in enough time to get it back up and over the net. Just over an hour and a half on the clock and Spain lead by two sets to love
- - SPAIN 6-2 5-3 - Berdych dances around the ball to drill a forehand winner down the line and deny Ferrer the chance to break for this second set. Instead it's a game point to Berdych and one he takes full advantage of as he finds another forehand winner to hold and force Ferrer to serve it out
- - SPAIN 6-2 5-2 - Ferrer taps a drop shot over the net which Berdych can only return long despite easily getting up to it. And another huge forehand can only be sliced back into the net from Berdych as the Spaniard continues his march towards this second set
- - SPAIN 6-2 4-2 - Berdych flashes a perplexed look over the net after Ferrer again easily gets to everything the Czech player can throw at him. But an unreturnable serve followed by an ace helps him set up two game points. And another ace, called out but overturned on a hawkeye call, sees him hold
- - SPAIN 6-2 4-1 - Another great game from Ferrer as he produces a stunning forehand across court, which Berdych can only return into the bottom of the net.
- - SPAIN 6-2 3-1 - Berdych stops the rot to win his first game in six, setting up a game point with an ace before stepping up and drilling a forehand down the line, a forehand that Ferrer has no answer to and simply returns into the bottom of the net
- - SPAIN 6-2 3-0 - Ferrer races through another love service hold to lead by a set and a break after just one hour. Fantastic stuff from the Spaniard
- -
SPAIN 6-2 2-0 - BREAK! Berdych opens the game with an ace but Ferrer is all over him again and pushes him to deuce before earning himself a break point that he takes with a blistering forehand winner
- - SPAIN 6-2 1-0 - Another quick and easy service hold from Ferrer as he looks to keep the pressure on Berdych and grind him into the ground. This is an incredibly intelligent performance from Ferrer, making Berdych run further for every point and every ball than the one before
- - Well that was pretty emphatic from Ferrer, who is a different man from the one who stepped up against Janko Tipsarevic last week in the final group match of the ATP World Tour Finals in London. Does Berdych have anything left to fight back in this clash?
- - SPAIN 6-2 - SET! Another tough service game for Berdych as he is forced to produce a vicious forehand across court to level up at 30-30. A stunning forehand winner down the line from Ferrer though brings up a set point. Berdych saves it when Ferrer hits long but the Spaniard quickly gets a second chance. And this time he does take it, Berdych failing to find the court with a forehand
- - SPAIN 5-2 - Berdych is having a huge amount of success with trips into the net as he comes in to fire down a smash winner for his first point of the game. Another trip in ends with Ferrer's attempting forehand passing shot in the net and two break points. The first is saved by the Spaniard with a cross court forehand winner and the second he saves with a backhand winner riffled down the line. A third break point also goes begging when Berdych hits long and Ferrer holds with his fourth ace
- - SPAIN 4-2 - Just when he looked to be challenging Ferrer, he quickly finds himself two more break points down. He saves the first with an ace and then also the second with a forehand approach shot that Ferrer can only return into the net. A mid-court forehand winner across court from Berdych brings up a game point and he holds on when a Ferrer forehand drifts just long
- - SPAIN 4-1 - Three points in a row from Ferrer after dropping a couple of points against serve for the first time in this match. Berdych is really startign to find his rhythm now as he comes up with a couple of ferocious backhands. But the Spaniard is nothing if not tenacious and he bounces back with a backhand winner of his own before going on to hold
- - SPAIN 3-1 - The crowd is desperately trying to lift what must be a pretty tired Berdych, wildly cheering every single point he wins. And it seems to be working as the Czech player gets on the board with a hold. He steps up to the baseline and batters a couple of huge forehands
- -
I will be here throughout what is expected to be a pretty long day of battling tennis - most likely two epic matches. So why not keep my company and get in touch on Twitter @pippawdavis. Give me your predictions. I reckon Ferrer to take this and level the clash. Then it all comes down to Stepanek v Almagro, which has five sets written all over it! Follow on Twitter
- - SPAIN 3-0 - Ferrer absolutely races through a love service hold to consolidate the break - a huge first serve and forehand approach shot winner opening the game before an ace and a forehand drive volley winner. And then he seals it with an off-forehand winner across court and right on to the sideline. Ferocious from the Spaniard
- -
SPAIN 2-0 - BREAK! Berdych ended a four-match losing streak to Ferrer at the 02 Arena 12 months ago but is taken to deuce in his first service game. And two long forehand sees the Spaniard gifted an early break.
- - SPAIN 1-0 - Hugely impressive opening game from Ferrer who holds to love. Berdych and Ferrer haven’t played each other for over a year, not since the 2011 ATP World Tour Finals.
12:10 - The players just finishing their warm-up at a packed O2 Arena in Prague.
- - Stepanek spent three hours on the court on Friday and Berdych an hour longer. But they waved aside all concerns about weariness before Sunday's rubbers, insisting they would be ready for the climax of the 100th Davis Cup final. "We have the best score we could hope for after day two. We're facing a terribly hard Sunday, but if you want to win the Davis Cup final, you can't expect to be done after Saturday," said Berdych.
- - Spain, missing world number four Rafael Nadal, who is recovering from a knee injury, are looking to lift their fourth Davis Cup in five years, in addition to wins in 2000 and 2004. But the holders need Ferrer to win and then 11th-ranked Nicolas Almagro to defeat Radek Stepanek, the world number 37 in singles, in the deciding rubber.
- - The Czechs are eyeing their first trophy since the country split with Slovakia in 1993, while former Czechoslovakia won the cup in 1980. A win would hand them a rare team double after the women's team defended the Fed Cup here two weeks ago.
- - Tomas Berdych, the world number six in singles, will take on fifth-ranked David Ferrer in a rubber pitting the teams' number one players against each other.
12:00 - The Czechs are one win away from sealing the Davis Cup after going 2-1 up against the holders Spain in the doubles. Watch on the Eurosport Player

@WV, Until the ATP and the WTA are stricter with their testing we may never know who is using what . OT: I would be shocked if the ENTIRE Jamaican track & field teams(men&women) are not on some DOPING program . The way Bolt and Blake are breaking world records with such ease and frequency is mindbogling . BTW, both sprinters are training "partners" and Blake was already caught doping in 2009 . If it is too good to be true , it probably is !!
timbukto01 - Why is roger never tested? who knows maybe the first big name in tennis will be a BIG surprise. Will they ever be caught who knows look no further than Agassi!!
@Dizzy, We all have our favorite players and clubs but we have to be objective and open-minded . Anything can happen in sports . Who would have thought that Armstrong was such a FRAUD and a cheat ? That is why I would NOT be surprised if some BIG name athletes ( track&field, tennis , etc.) were caught for using PED,EPO,MA's ,testosterone, etc...etc..etc..!!
Go Ferrer!
Timbuktu. Like Murray, you mean? Look at Murray at 18 or 19. Look at him at 21 or 22. I prefer to think that was down to hard work. I would say the same about Nadal. Nadal was profilic and powerful as a TEENAGER at 13 or 14. He had a power game right through the years. He has been tested continuously. What more can he do? This is just bitter Brits who cannot face up to the fact that Spain is a huge powerhouse in world tennis and Britain are really just also-rans with one top quality player with a real world class ranking.
I have my opinions on tennis and sport in general. I like and dislike certain players\teams based only on how they play and to a small degree how they portray themselves throught the media. I have my feelings on how the game should be played or how I like to see it played persionally. What I cannot do is make flippant remarks about individuals which are basicallly illegal and without any facts. I was watching TV last night and some guy made a joke about Freddie Starr and Kids. I thought about it and wondered how this guy could get away with that. As far as I am aware he was questioned and released without charge so why are comedians allowed to get away with making such a joke? I often think society is becoming overly litigious in many ways but certain people seem to have found a niche within which they can spread their filth without punishment.
I don't want to take sides here but I think Mark may have a point . The Spanish doctor Luis Garcia del Moral was banned for life by the USADA for his involvement in setting up a doping program for Armstrong and the rest of the USPS team . Moral's clinic in Valencia was regularly used by some tennis players : Safina , Errani ,etc. There is NO proof that Nadal,Verdasco or Ferrer were connected to Moral . Nevertheless, the significant improvement in the "physical" appearance, power and performance of certain tennis players (men&women) may raise some questions . Any player who keeps pulling out of events on a regular basis claiming injury could raise some red flags . If we have learned anything from the Armstrong scandal is clear: some athletes can get away with doping and cheating for a long time BUT they will eventually get caught . There are people who would rather stay in DENIAL . Don't be surprised if one of today's biggest name athletes get caught sooner than you think !!
Well said Dizzy. You would think they would not waste their time on these boards with non-experts like us but be actually employed by the tennis federation for their 'expert' opinions.
WV - and who are you that you can say this about czech republic??? I´m not czech but I respect them as a country which is th emost succesful in tennis this year.. Such a small country a look, they made it into Fed Cup final and won and Davis Cup final as well..
Well said Dizzy!!
Neither from liverpool or a glory hunter, just hate idiots like yourself who make accusations about certain players without proof or foundation. I love the game and prepared to give the benefit of doubt until proven guilty which happens to be my profession, so don't go spouting stupid remarks and just relax and enjoy the wonderful game these 2 are giving us. David is playing great tennis in this match - he has to for his country but to accuse him of drugs is simply ridiculous so please stop being silly, you are obviously very young and have limited knowledge so let's leave it there. Hate these sly remarks from youngsters.I have suspicions about tennis in general but to put anyone of these in the same category as Armstrong shows your immaturity, - so take a deep breath and enjoy the tennis.
Who the hell do you think you are? What your doing is frankly defamatory. Yo should have your account cancelled by yahoo. How dare you come on here and accuse two professional sportsmen of doping without a shred of evidence. These guys are tested regularly and neither has ever tested positive so where do you get off saying this, you moronic ignoramous? I have reported your comments to yahoo and hope they will do the right thing. All these twitter accounts and online forums are getting out of hand. People coming out and talking absolute nonsense. These guys work incredibly hard and are subject to rigorous testing. You're probably a Murray fan. Is it just that Nadal has 11 GS titles and Murray has one - which he won when Nadal was injured coincidentally? I think Murray is on drugs too. When he was about 19, he was wiry and weedy and then he turned into the incredible hulk with huge calves and arms. What happened there? I have absolutely no evidence to support this claim. Of course, I'm messing but do you realise what a moronic troll you look like?
Sour grapes mark or whoever you are!! What about the swiss chesse and his improved play no comment on him. Time for the gentleman Rafa to come back and show them all how to be gracious. Go Spain, just because you have a great team jealousy creeps in!! What an ignorant lot these czechs' are pity such a country as this can get to the final of a davis cup, but then cheating does pay, where as Spain get there on sheer talent. Go David, you are a perfect gentleman and a credit to the sport and if Roger can beat you 13 -0 what is the swiss cheese on? His energy levela have picked up of late!
Vamos David. Don't let te loud-mothed and unsporting Czech oafs get to you!
