  1. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 6-3 - GAME, SET & MATCH! Consecutive double faults from Lisicki do not help the German's cause. And a backhand down the line that catches the top of the tape and lands wide hands Wozniacki three match points. But only one is needed as Lisicki hits into the net. Wozniacki is through to the second round

  2. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 5-3 - Wozniacki is now just one game away from a place in the second round as she eases through a hold to 15

  3. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 4-3 - BREAK! A second straight break for Wozniacki as she pushes Lisicki around the baseline before finding a forehand winner to snatch the break and sneak back out in front once again

  4. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 3-3 - While all that Murray excitement has been going on, Wozniacki has broken back on Hisense and has just held with a forehand winner to get things back on level terms

  5. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 1-3 - Wozniacki recovers some kind of form as she utilises the one-two punch of a solid first serve and a forehand winner across court to seal the hold that gets her off the mark in this final set

  6. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 0-3 - A big first serve out wide followed by an off-forehand winner back into the same corner of the court from Lisicki and she has consolidated the break. Wozniacki back in trouble now

  7. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 0-2 - BREAK! Lisicki moves up to a shorter ball in the mid-court and rattles off a forehand winner to break and get properly ahead once more in this match

  8. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 0-1 - Lisicki eases through an opening service hold to get back in front for the first time since the first set

  9. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 6-3 - SET! Not an easy service game for Wozniacki but she comes through it by the skin of her teeth, Lisicki hitting long down the centre of the court - something she, incorrectly as is confirmed by hawkeye, challeges. This one will be decided by a third set

  10. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 5-3 - Now a test of Wozniacki's mentality as Lisicki holds to force her opponent to serve out this second set, the Dane grimacing after a forehand ends up in the net

  11. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 5-2 - Ouch! Wozniacki slaps down a double fault to hand Lisicki another break back point and it is one the German is unable to take advantage of and Wozniacki goes on to hold when Lisicki hits into the net. The German will have to serve to stay in this set next

  12. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 4-2 - Lisicki has regained focus now it would appear as she steps back up onto the baseline to hold and leave herself just the one break down in this second set. Can Wozniacki steady the ship and stay ahead?

  13. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 4-1 - BREAK! Better from Lisicki as she gets one of the breaks back, allowing Wozniacki only one point, as she eases up to the shorten ball and finds a cross court forehand winner to seal the game

  14. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 4-0 - BREAK! Sabine Lisicki has completely checked out of this match in the last four games as Wozniacki races through another break to make her second set tally very comfortable indeed

  15. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 3-0 - Despite an angry forehand winner from Lisicki, clattered down the line with not just a hint of frustration, Wozniacki holds to consolidate the early break and this match is beginning to look like an epic three-setter in the making

  16. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 2-0 - BREAK! Great stuff from Wozniacki as she steps inside the baseline and dismissively sends a backhand down the line past the flailing Lisicki the other end. That's more like the Wozniacki that we used to see

  17. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 1-0 - Much better from Wozniacki as she holds for just the second time in the clash so far, sealing the game with a forehand winner, to get off the mark first in this second set

  18. - - WOZNIACKI 2-6 - SET! Lisicki leaps all over a shorter forehand from from Wozniacki, stepping inside the baseline and clattering a backhand winner over the net to seal the first set at the first attempt. Wozniacki, the 10th seed, is in all kinds of trouble

  19. - - WOZNIACKI 2-5 - BREAK! Ouch! Wozniacki is looking a step slow on almost every point as Lisicki breaks again by putting a backhand just out of reach of the Dane and drawing the error into the net. The German will serve for the set after the change of ends

  20. - - WOZNIACKI 2-4 - Lisicki is starting to control the rallies now as well as winning the big points as she holds to 30 to consolidate the break and leave Wozniacki is all sorts of trouble

  21. - - WOZNIACKI 2-3 - BREAK! Lisicki backs away from a first serve, giving herself time to run around the ball before battering her forehand return down the line for a winner that sees her break again to take the lead

  22. - - WOZNIACKI 2-2 - The first really comfortable service game of the match goes the way of Lisicki as she eases through to level up and getting things back on track after conceding that early break

  23. - - WOZNIACKI 2-1 - Another tough service game for Wozniacki but this time she comes through it, saving a break point with a forehand winner before going on to hold with another forehand winner, this time off a shorter, mid-court ball

  24. - - WOZNIACKI 1-1 - BREAK! Lisicki saves a first break point of her own with a forehand winner that she riffles down the line. But, just like Wozniacki in the opening game, she can do nothing about the second and sends a forehand wide across court to concede her early advantage

  25. - - WOZNIACKI 0-1 - BREAK! Wozniacki finds herself in early trouble as she hands Lisicki two break points in the first game. And ace saves the first but she can do nothing about the second as Lisicki batters a forehand winner across court

  1. Sabine Lisicki has the loveliest smile in womens tennis....i luv watching her. XXX for you sabine

From Dareman, on Sat 19 Jan 1:41
  2. @Bempah, lol... I think the first step in the right direction for her would be to get rid of her dad as her coach and higher someone who understands what's lacking in her game and can change her style of play. But just like u rightly said she might still not change her game as it seems too late, besides a lot of them goes on the court and eventually resorts to what they are comfortable with once they start struggling with the style taught by the coach. I remember Sharapova's coach asking her "why hiring me then if u won't do.....".

  3. You are right Kingsley, but the truth is you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Defensive has been the hallmark of her game and it's going to take a significant amount of time for her change. She will instinctively switch to her comfort zone (defense) the slightest time she finds her back against the wall. One thing about Wozi is first try and break her and hold on to your serve. If you do this, she starts to play a little aggressive and offensive and because she is not used to that her aggressive and offensive opponents batter her. They just need to cut down their errors.

  4. Bemoan u are right, cos winnig that 1st GS really helps their confidence.

From Kingsley, on Tue 15 Jan 2:12
  5. Wozinicki didn't win, Lisicki lost the game due to inconsistency. Still don't see Wozi winnig a major except if she make significant change to her game. She needs to employ Ivan Lendl who taught Andy Murray to be aggressive and not rely on just defence if he's to win a major and it worked, lol...

From Kingsley, on Tue 15 Jan 2:10
  6. Wozi will definitely survive Lisicki's scare because I have never trusted her.

From Bempah A, on Tue 15 Jan 2:01
  7. Kingsley, Wozi got there by an accident (without wining a slam). In the women's game, it is always dangerous to be number one without wining a slam. When you are finally kicked out, coming back again even to the top ten becomes an uphill battle. If I am lying go and ask Safina and Jankovic.

From Bempah A, on Tue 15 Jan 1:46
  8. Oh! Errani has followed Petrova.

From Bempah A, on Tue 15 Jan 1:43
  9. There it goes! Seeds have started crashing out. Petrova is gone. Will Wozi be the next or Errani?

From Bempah A, on Tue 15 Jan 1:43
  10. Wozniacki surely doesn't have the game to be in the top 15 at all, don't know how she got number 10 in the world. No aggressive play at all. Am sure those little gals like Laura Robson, Sloane Stephen etc will beat d hell out of her just like Lisicki is doing just now.

From Kingsley, on Tue 15 Jan 0:46
  11. soz caro................no chance!

  12. Seems a really bad start for Wozniacki....i willl be pleasantly surprised if i am wrong

  13. Has Caroline decided to be a tennis player yet?

From MickeyHawk, on Sun 13 Jan 16:36
  14. No way! Bad draw!
