  1. Cobblestone refers to the road. Think if it as uneven­ bricks instead of a flat paved surface. Gaps in the­ stone and uneven from one to the next make it very­ rough on the riders with the chance of the wheels­ getting stuck in a grove and the riders contstantly­ going up and down in the saddle on the uneven stones. ­ There tend to be alot of crashes on cobblestone and if­ a rider gets stuck behind a massive crash, he could­ lose quite a bit of time.
