  2. "If you want to win the Euro you have to beat Spain !" --- DUH !!!! What smart comment. How about beating Spain but then losing with all the other countries. !!? Some of these commentators need lessons in 'logical thinking'. ---------------- It is easy to look good if you're not in the group of death If Spain was in the group of death, Spain would not survive Portugal or Germany.... unless of course the referee helped Spain as happened in E-2008 and WC 2010

  6. England vs Italy: now that was boring for someone not rooting for either side. So much wasted possession. England invariably passed to a blue shirt or belted it over the sideline. Italy hardly ever strung 3 passes together before they took a long, predictable, innocuous shot at goal. Result: 120 minutes of sterile error-ridden ball abuse, 70-metre goal kicks and speculators. So many turnovers, so little control, so few real chances. Not only boring but depressing to see professionals with such low levels of basic skills. They simply can't control the ball, so how the hell are they going to play football? Their idea of a deadly attack was to belt the ball from 30 or 40 metres out on the off-chance that it might go in off the melee in the area. Spain, on the other hand, are an absorbing side to watch if you don't care about the result. Every attack is a threat, every pass a potential menace, every player is thinking and scheming about where to find the gap or how to create it out of nothing. These days it takes time. The rival team has learned that these innocent passed conceal a deadly threat and usually has 8 or 9 players crowding the area because they are scared ****less, but in spite of the wall of defenders you know it's just a matter of time before a subtle, elusive pass leaves the defence stranded and some little guy slips through the gap, controls the ball with impeccable technique and leaves it at the feet of a team mate with the goalie stranded to score at will. They don't waste possession with speculators: every shot at goal is a chance. Their football is forged on the street, where muscle is no advantage and barging too dangerous to be acceptable, where teamwork is the key, possession the lock to shut down the rival and strategy the road to victory. Their football is street culture raised to the condition of art.

  8. It still amazes me that people think Spain lack shots on goal. Please look up the stats. They are 3rd or better in shots on goal and shots. And they are second in Goals, by one. So pleeeease someone tell me how they lack offensively?

  9. Spain have been labelled boring but anyone who is that stupid to not admire the skill, tactics, movement, effort, application and intellectual ability of players to interact, alter tactics and still have desire is showing no respect. Yes in the sense of the high possession stats, completion of passes there is a lack of shots and goals BUT what a team and production line as look as the midfield players not in the team and waiting their chance as the next generation. Who in England holds a light to these dynamos? Rodwell and Wiltshire? I don't think so!!!!!
