You say "that is road racing" but reading your comments, what do you know about road racing? Obviously very little about the role of a true road sprinter. In any case, given a bunch sprint, Cav has already shown in the Tour de France that he can win without a "train". I'd hardly call that "lazy". Unfortunately yesterday wasn't a bunch sprint. None of the other teams wanted a bunch sprint because they knew their sprinters couldn't have won. They would rather come away with nothing than to be beaten by Cav. I think that's testimony enough for the guy. The other teams have paid him the greatest compliment possible!!
How naive can Cavendish and the GB team get?. For most riders in the race it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to win an Olympic medal, and the GB team were disappointed that other riders would not help them set a pace that would put lazy Cav into a potentially winning position so he could use his sprint for the last 200 yards. Vinoukerof won it like like it should be done. What a great way for him finish his career. That is road racing. If Cav is supposed to be the fastest man on a bike he should try track sprinting and see how good he really is without a whole team to do the hard stuff for him.
