    - - CANADA WIN GOLD!! 7:40 into overtime and Sidney Crosby scores. Jerome Iginla with the assist and Crosby, assistant captain of the Canadian team, ends the game with a quick shot to bring Canada its 14th gold medal.

    - - Great pace in overtime. Canada looking the stronger and Miller with a great save to deny Nash.

    - - Jamie Langenbrunner with the set up and Parise had an incredible chance that Luongo stopped. Seven minutes left.

    - - Team Canada have taken their fans on a gut-churning roller-coaster ride to the final by surviving a shootout win over Switzerland, a loss to the US and a heart-stopping semi-final victory over Slovakia but they are now 10 minutes away from gold. Dany Heatley just had the open side of the net after Kane coughed it up but he couldn't bury it as Miller keeps this a one goal game.

    - - Shea Weber fires it off the pipe and then Chris Pronger with a shot from the blue line hits the upright. Canada hit the post twice inside the opening two minutes of the third period.

    - - Canada beat the US on their home ice at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games to end a 50-year gold medal drought. They have 20 minutes left to repeat the trick.

    - - Kane with a chance on the attack then Ryan Suter on the backhand. At the other end Richards fails to make contact in front and Staal gets a rush but misses the net. A frenetic end to the second period but still 2-1 Canada with 20 minutes to go.

    - - A beautiful tip-in from Ryan Kessler as he steers Patrick Kane's shot past Luongo as the USA reduce the deficit with 12:44 gone in the second period. Moments later Zach Parise is stopped at point blank range by Luongo.

    - - Toews called for tripping and finally the USA with a great chance but Luongo denies Jack Johnson coming in from the right side and then is an ice crab to smother the follow-up from Paul Stastny right from the dootstep.

Canada's first penalty as Staal is called for interference but a solid penalty kill from the hosts and then Ryan Getzlaff with a shot and with Patrick Marleau screening, it gives the men in red all the space they need and Corey Miller slams it home after 7:13 of the second period.

    - - Jarome Iginla, one of four veterans of the Salt Lake City gold medal winning team, with an excellent chance off the backhand but is denied by Miller and then Ryan Malone goes into the box for high sticking.

    - - From the face-off, Mike Richards with a shot that bounces off Miller and Johnathon Teays stuffs the rebound into the can and it is 1-0 Canada after 12:50.

    - - The United States is dictating the pace of play and Patrick Kane, arguably USA's most skilled player, is denied by Roberto Luongo on a wraparound. Miller holds a Rick Nash shot.

    - - Great pace in the opening 6:40, no penalties and hardly a stoppage. US netminder Ryan Miller has been the single biggest reason the Americans have reached the final and he makes a good save from Drew Doughty.

    - - GOLD FOR NORWAY!! Axel Teichmann comes from off the back of the group and surges to the front, making his bid for home on the final uphill stretch. He leads coming around the final corner but he has no answer to the blistering pace of Petter Northug who charges down the home straight to win by three tenths. Disaster for Dario Cologna as he crashes coming around the final bend when challenging Johan Olsson for bronze and the Swede takes third ahead of Tobias Angerer and Devon Kershaw with 39-year-old Veerpalu fading to sixth.     - - With 800m to go, Northug is shoulder to shoulder with Anderer, Cologna and Veerpalu.

    - - Lukas Bauer suffered on the climb and is at the very back of those 15 with 3km remaining as Dario Cologna leads the way with Petter Northug looking ominously poised.

    - - A group of 15 together at the bell with 5km to go: Alexander Legkov, Maxim Vylegzhanin, Lukas Bauer, Daniel Rikardsson, Giorgio Di Centa, Dario Cologna, Tobias Angerer, Jens Filbrich, Petter Northug, Martin Johnsrud Sundby, Odd-Bjoern Hjelmeset, Andrus Veerpalu, Devon Kershaw, Vincent Vittoz and Jean Marc Gaillard.

    - - The Russians Alexander Legkov and Maxim Vylegzhanin have stepped on the gas and the Germans Axel Teichmann and Rene Sommerfeldt plus Hellner are struggling to stay in touch with 8.5km to go.

    - - Marcus Hellner has a problem as he changes skis with 10km. The lead group has thinned down to around 17 racers.

    - - Pietro Piller Cotrer falls on a downhill and that could be curtains for the Italian, 2005 world champion over 15km.

    - - Marcus Hellner leads the field through the stadium after the seventh lap of 10. There is a lead group of 27 - home hopes Alex Harvey and Ivan Babikov have not kept in touch with that bunch.

    - - Martin Johnsrud Sundby has made a move and opened up a 12 second lead on the rest of the field. Johan Olsson falls on a tight corner and takes about six men down with him including Lukas Bauer.

    - - An absolute disaster of a ski change for Jean Marc Gaillard with a ski tie stuck to the ski which he throws in the air in disgust. He must lose about 30 seconds on the leaders as Northug leads fellow Norwegian Jens Arne Svartedal out of the stadium at 20km.

    - - Petter Northug, who won last year's World Championship in freestyle, is one of many to changes skis. 20 men come through the stadium at 15km within 10 seconds of leader Rene Sommerfeldt. Russia's Sergey Shiriaev, third in the World Cup pursuit in Rybinsk last month, abandons the race.

    - - The field still very tightly packed at the quarter mark of the race and being led by relay gold medallist Sodergren.

    - - Italy's Valerio Checchi and Anders Sodergren of Sweden lead the field through the stadium for the second time. Aliaksei Ivanou of Belarus takes a tumble on one of the icy downhill stretches as Axel Teichmann becomes the first man to change skis.

    - - Grey still leading the field at 7.1km. Interestingly the last 50km classic race was in Trondheim last March and was won by Sami Jauhojaervi. This is Finland's last chance of a gold medal at these Olympics.

    - - Grey leads as they go through the stadium with another Canadian Ivan Babikov just behind in third. Finland's Ville Nousiainen has to collect a new pole.
