Bundesliga - Edu makes Besiktas loan move
Schalke have confirmed that Braizilian striker Edu has joined Turkish side Besiktas on a season-long loan.
The 29-year-old travelled to Istanbul on Wednesday to enter into discussions over a move and the German club has confirmed that a deal has been done.
Edu got his first taste of European football in 2003 when he moved to Bochum from Brazilian side Nautico but he failed to make a significant impact, and after a short spell at Mainz moved to Suwon Bluewings in the South Korean league.
Schalke brought the Brazilian back to Germany in 2010 but his goal scoring record ahs again been poor and he will now try his luck in Turkey.
Schalke's official website made the comment: "Edu has joined Schalke on loan until June 30, 2012.
"The Brazilian, who arrived in January 2010 from Korean side Suwon Blue Wings, won the DFB Cup last season.
"Edu scored five goals in 42 league games. He also played eight Champions League matches, scoring two goals."
