Lance Armstrong will race in the Tour of Switzerland on June 12 in preparation for July's Tour de France.
Armstrong won the nine-day stage race in 2001.
The American crashed heavily at the recent Tour of California, since when he has not raced.
He will return to the saddle in Wednesday's Tour of Luxemburg.
"We are really proud of having Lance Armstrong in the starting line-up," a spokesman for the Tour of Switzerland said.
"Lance is a big star. It's really important to have him."
The RadioShack rider has been the subject of drug allegations from Floyd Landis, who claimed Texan Armstrong donated $100,000 towards a drug-testing machine to hush up a positive test in that 2001 victory.
Those claims were denied by UCI president Pat McQuaid and the cyclist, although McQuaid admitted that accepting the donation from the seven-times Tour de France winner was a mistake.
