The transfer window has barely been nudged open but we've already got as juicy and unlikely a story as we'll get all month: Ronaldinho could be on his way to Blackburn.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Brazilian superstar has been offered £130,000 a week to move to Ewood Park on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

It might sound unlikely, but the club's new owners Venky's have made their interest official, while AC Milan have confirmed that Blackburn have made an official approach for the unsettled World Cup winner.

Blackburn also claim to have begun negotiations with Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto de Assis - despite the player himself having just flown to Brazil to try to hammer out a deal with Gremio.

"We have spoken four times with Assis," a Venky's source told the paper.

"The owners know that Ronaldinho was not being used properly in Milan and is dissatisfied and, above all, wants to play in England."

Rovers will face a battle to land the 30-year-old World Cup winner and former World Player of the Year, despite his recent lack of sparkle in Serie A - but such a move would be a massive step for Blackburn's new owners to win over the club's fans.

Manchester City's long-running efforts to sign Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg could either be finalised or scuppered today. The Daily Star claims that the deal will go through on Monday - but the Daily Mail reports that Bayern Munich are to make a late £30 million swoop to keep the player in the Bundesliga.

Chris Hughton is apparently ready to get back into management just a few weeks after being sacked by Newcastle, with The Sun claiming that Crystal Palace have made him their top target to replace recently-fired George Burley.

Manchester United have already confirmed that striker Federico Macheda will probably go out on loan during the second half of the season, with Juventus, Parma, Lazio and Fiorentina all said to be interested in the young Italian.

But he could have an option to go on loan without the bother of moving house, with the Mirror reporting that Everton boss David Moyes is to throw his hat into the ring to land the 19-year-old on a short-term deal.

Newcastle are readying a move for QPR starlet Adel Taarabt, according to the Daily Mail, while The Sun claims West Ham have made a £4m bid for Liam Lawrence - despite the fact that he only signed a free transfer deal with Portsmouth on Sunday!

The move would require FIFA approval as players are prevented from moving clubs twice in one transfer window.

And finally, the latest twist in the David Beckham to Spurs saga is that it all came about because the former England skipper bumped into the son of the North London club's boss in Harrods.

The Sun reports Harry Redknapp saying that Beckham saw former England team-mate Jamie while Christmas shopping, and told him: "I'd fancy playing for Tottenham - I like the way they play."
