Vinokourov was banned from cycling for a year in 2007 for blood doping during the Tour de France and returned to Astana before last season's Vuelta a Espana, an event he won in 2006.

The 36-year-old heads an eight-strong line-up for the five day race, from February 10-14, with Australian Allan Davis and Italian Enrico Gasparotto set to challenge the sprints.

The Kazakh-funded team delivered Spaniard Alberto Contador to his second Tour de France victory in 2009 but have since seen a raft of star names, including Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer, depart.

Full Team:

Assan Bazayev (KAZ), Allan Davis (AUS), Dmitriy Fofonov (KAZ), Enrico Gasparotto (ITA), Maxim Iglinskiy (KAZ), Mirko Selvaggi (ITA), Gorazd Stangelj (SLO), Alexandre Vinokourov (KAZ).
